Netanyahu Accuses Palestinian Leader Abbas of Holocaust Denial

RT | May 2, 2018

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has taken to Twitter to slam Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas who, during a Monday speech, suggested that through their “social role” Jews brought persecution upon themselves.

Netanyahu accused the Palestinian leader of both Holocaust denial and anti-Semitism. “Apparently the Holocaust denier is still a Holocaust denier. I call on the international community to condemn his severe anti-Semitism; the time has come for it to pass from the world,” he wrote.

The embattled Israeli PM was making reference to controversial remarks made by Abbas at a rare meeting of the Palestinian National Council in Ramallah on Monday. During a 90-minute televised speech, Abbas claimed that the historic persecution of European Jews throughout the centuries was due to their “social role related to usury and banks.”

“From the 11th century until the Holocaust that took place in Germany, the Jews – who moved to Western and Eastern Europe – were subjected to a massacre every 10 to 15 years. But why did this happen?” the Jerusalem Post quotes Abbas as saying.

“The Jewish issue that was widespread in all European countries… was not because of their religion, but rather their social role related to usury and banks,” he reportedly added.

Abbas attributed these claims to books written by various Jewish scholars and also said that “such pogroms did not take place in Arab countries, which had Jewish populations.”

Jason Greenblatt, President Trump’s special envoy to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, took to Twitter to respond to the remarks, saying: “They are very unfortunate, very distressing and terribly disheartening. Peace cannot be built on this kind of foundation.”

While US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman said that the comments represent a “new low.”

Abbas has been accused of Holocaust denial for decades stemming from his 1982 doctorate dissertation entitled“The Secret Relationship between Nazism and the Zionist Movement.”

  2. The time has come for Satanyahu to pass from the world…admittedly only a start toward ridding the world of his Zioideology’s brand of parasitism, arrogance and genocide but nevertheless a start. The Palestinians, to a person, would be appreciative.

I hold no brief for Mahmud Abbas whose time has come and should go quickly, but he is right on here! Let the doors be opened and the debate engaged!

    • I agree with you about M. Abbas. He really has wasted so much time and compromised himself over and over in collusive actions with the Zionist entity. As the song says “Too much, too little, too late …”.
There are many capable Palestinians who could take his place with more intelligence and more honour.
It is now past the 11th hour for the Palestinian state – I can see no good outcome for the most persecuted people living in their own land since history began.
Israel is now using the Iranian presence in Syria to spark a war between the US and Iran. Anybody who has studied basic life games in Transaction Analysis knows this is just a hard version of let you and him fight; the only winner is Israel.

  3. ” the time has come for it to pass from the world”
Sounds like Benjamin Mileikowsky is paraphrasing the former president of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, ” will disappear from the pages of time.”
Those that are not truly great must remain pale copies; those that are irredemably dispecable will steal and lie even unto profaning their enemies choicest sound bites.

  4. “I call on the international community to condemn his severe anti-Semitism;”

What a hippocrite Netanyahu is. He spews bile about Iran, Syria, Iraq, and anyone else who stands in his way of taking over the Middle East to establish something called “Greater Israel. And then he calls anyone who stands up to him as an Anti-Semite, as if everything is their fault.
What a disgusting piece of human excrement he is. When is he going to jail, by the way, he’s also a criminal.

That quote by Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was directed at the “Regime in Israel”, but was seized by the corrupted American Media and turned into “Israel should removed from the pages of time”, a complete lie…..But, what have people come to expect from the MSM?
