The Unbearable Hypocrisy of US Sanctions on Iran

By Daniel McAdams | Ron Paul Institute | January 26, 2020

On November 22nd of last year, the US government announced it would impose sanctions on Iran’s information minister for his alleged role in limiting domestic Internet access while protests raged in that country over increases in gas prices.

At the time, US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin condemned the Iranian government for censoring information that Iranian citizens could view online, stating that, “Iran’s leaders know that a free and open internet exposes their illegitimacy, so they seek to censor internet access to quell anti-regime protests.”

The Iranians were evil, said the US government official in charge of economic sanctions, because it restricted what its citizens could read in the international press.

Our government would never do that… right?

Wrong. Yesterday, the US government knocked Iran’s state news agency, FARS, off of the Internet entirely, citing US sanctions against the country.

What that means is the Iranian news service is being censored by the United States government and that Americans will therefore no longer be able to see anything from this foreign media outlet.

Exactly what Mnuchin accused Iran of doing back in November.

Zero Hedge writes, “as Iran’s Press TV describes further“:

The news agency said that it had received an email from the server company, which explicitly said that the blockage is due to an order by the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and its inclusion in the list of Specially Designated Nationals (SDN).

The agency attached to its post a screenshot of its website with the message “www.farsnews.com’s server IP address could not be found.”

This latest US censorship of Iranian media is nothing new. Iran’s Press TV has been removed from YouTube and other US social media with “US sanctions on Iran” being given as the reason.

Americans are not allowed to see the Iranian perspective on the Middle East because the Beltway bombardiers and their bosses in the military-industrial complex depend on successfully demonizing all Persians so that Americans will accept their annihilation in another neocon war. If Americans are allowed to see the Iranian perspective they might not be so supportive of the slaughter the neocons are cooking up.

The bottom line is this: the US Administration cites Iran’s restricting of outside media as evidence of the evil nature of the Iranian government, all the while scrambling to restrict American citizens’ access to Iranian media outlets.

Pot. Kettle. Black. Hypocrisy.

  1. McAdams, sadly, doesn’t go to the root of America’s problem. When he cites “…Americans are not allowed to see the Iranian perspective on the Middle East because the Beltway bombardiers and their bosses in the military-industrial complex depend on successfully demonizing all Persians…,” he fails to include his aforementioned “US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin” — a Jew and 100 percent sure a Zionist zealot — and Mnuchin’s “Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC)” — which was set up in 2005 [on behalf of the Ziomonster…crippling sanctions on anything and everything and everyone Arab or Muslim with a few alternates like Cuba, Venezuela, Russia and North Korea to show “balance, impartiality”] and has been chiefed and staffed exclusively by rapacious Jew-Zionist zealots from the get-go.

We’ve been had, folks. When will (even) the Ron Pauls of patriotic bent begin to grow a set of balls and tell it to us straight?

“Pot. Kettle. Black. Hypocrisy.” Yes, and more, like “shhhhh…silence…don’t piss off the Zionists as they exercise full-spectrum dominance over us.” (And let us not forget “frustration”…also “shame.”) So let me recapitulate: Pot. Kettle. Black. Hypocrisy. Silence. Frustration. Shame.

    • I note that I was a bit deficient above. OFAC has been around for at least decades, but it was in 2005 that the (something like) “Anti-Terrorist Financing Unit” within OFAC was Ziogoosed/Zioestablished/Ziomanaged. I can remember when the first Ziozealot chief of office (Cohen? Leavy?) regularly trooped over to Zioland to “consult” with his masters…I’m sure that continues these 15 years later…taxpayers, of course, pay the airfare and per diem, not to mention the Ziosalaries.

Also, my revulsion and hatred of “militant/political Zionistm” extends not only to the JewZio crowd. If possible, I find the all-too-numerous ‘Christian’ Zionists even more odious and unChristlike/satanic/inhuman. But of course the original Theodore Hertzl Zionism was Jew-birthed…. Just want to make that a bit clearer.

Pity the Palestinians, the ultimate victim. But we’re all Palestinians now.

  2. “The Iranians were evil, said the US government official in charge of economic sanctions, because it restricted what its citizens could read in the international press”.

Restricting what its citizens could read is a specialty of the MIC/American MSM. The “Terrorists” who attacked the Twin Towers(all 7 of them) were whisked away to Guantanamo Bay Cuba, and NO Public examination of what really happened(by trying the so called Terrorists under American Law in an American Court of Law) was allowed.

The USA(and The American People) have been completely swindled in relation to What Really Happened IN the USA.
