Mark Duggan Lawful Killing Appeal Rejected

The family of Mark Duggan –the man whose death sparked the UK riots in 2011 – have lost their bid to have the inquest verdict that ruled his death ‘lawful’ overturned. Lawyers acting for the Duggan family had argued that the coroner had blundered in his summing up and lead the jury to conclude that Duggan was unarmed at the time but the police’s shooting of him was still lawful. Amina Taylor has more from London.

It was a killing that was the spark for one of the worst periods of civil unrest seen in the UK for a generation. The inquest into the death 29-year old of Mark Duggan at the hands of a Metropolitan Police marksman in August 2011, was ruled ‘lawful’.

The Duggan family disagreed but on Tuesday lost their appeal to have the inquest verdict set aside. The family was not in court to hear the decision of Lord Justice Levenson and two other high court judges.

In Tottenham where Mark Duggan used to live, among his friends, family and wider support network there will be an overwhelming sense of disappointment at the court’s decision because so many of those who protested against the way in which Mark was killed by Metropolitan polices marksman they’ve argued that for so long that his death was tantamount to ‘state-sanctioned murder’

Those involved in the Mark Duggan justice campaign say they believe the coroner and the jury were mislead and that police corruption may be involved.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission is continuing its investigation into the shooting.

Mark Duggan, is a state killing, for political purposes, the London, police have on their employment roll, those who are ex-service men, who are killers from being employed in over seas, war, similar to dogs who kill sheep, the taste of blood remains, in the animals case are put down, with being demobbed, they have a place in MI5, to be hired as a opportunity of using past skills, the general public of Britain, have no idea as to who and how ruthless the British, establishment really are, unless they become a victim of the police killer squad, or are seen as a threat to the culture of the repressive regime.
    We have to remember, in the main the police force are made up from low grade material, here I also refer to special squads such as MI5, although often referred to intelligence, is far from this noble attribute, but the establishment can pervert language as the are as a general observation, perverse.
    The problem with British, culture has throughout history of this country, is a violent, perverse, and hypocritical, as establishment demands this strategy is and has been in the past successful as a ruthless, vindictive society, having said that, their are some lights of compassion and some who would be seen as a Messiah vision, these few would not come out as the fate of death would be soon, not only would death be a possibility of certainty, but also existential death as the media would have a field day, not that Lennon was in this category, but relative to the time he lived in, was not long before he was murdered by establishment.
    Duggan, was expendable as a victim of sacrifice, he just did not look British, the coroner would be in on establishment thinking to summarize, a cover up.
