Israel says US will ‘punish’ those who boycott UN blacklist companies

Israel’s Ambassador to the UN said on Sunday that the US will punish those who boycott companies and individuals on the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) blacklist of those which profit from the occupation of the West Bank.
“This further attests to the strength of the bond of the US-Israel relationship and the alliance between the peoples,” explained Danny Danon at the 2020 conference of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee. AIPAC is the largest pro-Israel lobby organisation in North America.
Danon used his speech to criticise Democratic Party presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders for refusing to address the conference.
Sanders explained his decision by saying that he remains concerned about the platform AIPAC provides for leaders who express bigotry and oppose basic Palestinian rights. “Sadly, tragically, in Israel, through Bibi Netanyahu, you have a reactionary racist who is now running that country,” added the veteran US Senator.
The Israeli Ambassador insisted that nobody wants to see Sanders at AIPAC or in Israel. “Anyone who calls the Israeli Prime Minister a racist is a liar or an ignoramus, or a dangerous combination of the two,” Danon concluded.

Unbelievable ;that any diplomat would venture this information. Of course he wants to scare companies open to cooperating with the boycott. US may attempt to “punish” such firms but it would be illegal and it would violate the right of free speech. A good case can be made that, one’s politics aside, free speech must be retained and nurtured through anti-democratic administrations.

Is there any interest in pursuing some sort of higher profile demonstration, confronting legislators with the facts of Dannon comments? Legislators could be embarrassed in a public setting….just thinking out loud.

I like your “thinking out loud.” Unfortunately, I’m in Hawaii and 76 yo…some 10 years ago I tried to plant a seed for a multi-state demo on the Capitol steps, 3 persons in rotation 24-7 until the MSM and Congress were forced to take note and incur the public’s wrath. I got nowhere (have forgotten the issue…may have been the Zios’ 21-day massacre of Gazans in 2008-9 cleverly sandwiched between the Dubya and Obama administrations). Code Pink has become adept at such organizing and execution…anyone know a contact? I’d like to see a sea of signs headed by “Israeli Zionist Danny Danon doesn’t make or propagate US policy!” and go from there with more signs, handouts, speakers, drums…. Maybe “the Gang” (and/or Tulsi Gabbard?) could be enlisted to have CP’s back? My thought back in the day included soliciting the interest and participation of at least several notables — Ralph Nader, Jimmy Carter, Dennis Kucinich, Cynthia McKinney, Mike Gravel, Prof. Marc Lamont Hill, Prof. Rashid Khalidi, some activist-entertainer folk… — to provide “gravitas” and draw attention. Somebody, somewhere, has to recognize, and act upon, the imperative of MAIG…Making America Independent Again.

It’s fun to hear myself in your comments. I am merely 75 years. Yes, some rotational type thing would do the trick because after a few days the Press would be hard put to ignore reporting this.
It would be all the better for a Jewish peace group to initiate such a protest, say Jewish Voice for Peace or IF NOT NOW.
It is really hard for me to think that our generation of the 60’s should have wrought the Conservative backlash now over decades. Citizens are decidedly less free to meet, act and promote than in our time. Multiple wars going. Trump in the WH. What went so very wrong?? And when?

“What went so very wrong?” Hard to say. My dad was blue collar all the way, labor union all the way, Democrat all the way, thought Ike (!) played too much golf. IMO, something went very wrong just about at the Reagan time: the Dems joined the Repubs in pursuing the almighty dollar, the people be damned. Now we have the duopoly, damned near every one of the thieves money-grubbing and posturing over who can make America “more” “exceptional” — and more entwined with the Zionist monster so-called Israel. Alison Weir has it right in her 2014 “Against Our Better Judgment.” (JVP, by the way, orchestrated a whisper campaign against Alison…causing me to decide never again to consort with it.)

The Amerinds and too, too many others near and far have paid a tragic price…while I sit here wallowing in accustomed luxury.
