Video: Soldier and settler terror in Hebron
Defense for Children International – 30 April 2010
Today, DCI-Palestine is launching a short film which tells the story of Jameel, a 16-year-old boy from Tel Rumeida, Hebron. On 13 July 2009, Jameel was detained and beaten by soldiers near his home for no apparent reason, tied and blindfolded at a checkpoint nearby and allowed to be beaten by settlers and soldiers as well as have stones thrown at him, while his parents watched on nearby but were prevented from helping him.
Over the past two years, DCI-Palestine has documented 40 such incidents, in which Palestinian children were shot or physically assaulted, in an unprovoked manner, by settlers or soldiers. None of the victims who filed complaints with the Israeli authorities received notice of whether or not the complaint was followed up. This demonstrates the overall culture of impunity prevalent inside Israel with regards to crimes against Palestinian civilians. According to data released by Israeli human rights organisation, Yesh Din, in 2008 and 2010, respectively, just 8% of investigations into incidents against Palestinian civilians by Israeli settlers led to an indictment, whereas only an aggregate average of 6% of all investigations conducted in 2000-2009 with regard to incidents against Palestinian civilians by Israeli soldiers or security forces led to an indictment. DCI-Palestine will soon be releasing a report featuring stories of children directly injured or killed during the above-mentioned incidents of settler or soldier violence documented by DCI-Palestine from March 2008-February 2010.

Latvia urging UK to ‘prepare for war’ with Russia
By Lucas Leiroz | March 18, 2024
The Baltic countries continue their “preparation for war with Russia.” Now, as if it were not enough to engage in a suicidal militarization campaign, Latvia is also demanding that the main NATO countries, such as the UK, also begin adopting radical measures to prepare for the “inevitable” confrontation with Moscow. The main Latvian criticism of the British concerns the military service, with the Baltic country asking the UK to immediately resume conscription policies to increase the size of its forces.
Latvia’s foreign minister, Krisjanis Karins, stated that all NATO countries should follow the Latvian example when it comes to military preparation. According to him, it is necessary to implement special militarization measures and improve defense capacity in the face of the supposed “Russian threat”, which is why Western countries should unite in a common military policy. Karins believes that not all NATO states are efficiently engaged in this military preparation process. In this regard, he criticizes even the stance of key countries in the bloc, such as the UK.
Karins was asked by a journalist from The Telegraph about whether London should adopt mandatory military service for its citizens. He resolutely responded that Latvia “strongly recommends” such an attitude. According to Karins, Latvia is developing a system called “total defense”, in which all the country’s efforts are directed towards expanding military capacity. Efforts include all sectors of civil society, thus requiring a system of total mobilization within which mandatory military service is vital. … continue

Be aware, this is all part of the new ‘wait them out’/’kick them out’ plan by Israel. They will negotiate when all the areas they really covet are in their hands and the Palestinians have gone.
Bargaining from a position of strength it is called and its all with the approval and assistance of the US. Have no doubts about that.
Hoe proud they must feel in their treatment of an unarmed country of mainly women and children.
The US will never recover its credibility in the eyes of the world. Such perfidy!

2006, My 18 years old son and I entered Eilat from Aqaba heading to Hebron (my birthplace). It took us 12 hours to get to Hebron. We were told to take bus # 161. It was the last stop, it was dark (after 9:30 PM) and it was very scary. I have never been scared as muck as I was then. We were told this was the last stop. Guess what! it was Tel Rumaideh. Spend 45 minutes trying to get out of that damn place, then we end up climbing over a dirt barrier to a Palestinian family home who received us with open arms. I’ll never forget that moment. I have never in worse state of fear but in Tel Rumaideh and never felt so happy but when I yield ‘Is anybody home?” The Bakkrie family replied “tafadhal” I did not know them and they did not know me. Remember it was past 10:00 PM.
