An Eye for An Eye

By Missie Beattie | CounterPunch | July 4, 2014

A broad moral gulf separates us from our enemies. They sanctify death; we sanctify life. They sanctify cruelty, and we mercy and compassion. That is the secret of our strength. –Benjamin Netanyahu, at the funeral of three slain Israeli teenagers.

WTF?

Israel shows no morality, no mercy, and no compassion for Palestinians. Israel’s strength is not a mystery. Their power is dependent on their belief that they are God’s Chosen, on sophisticated weaponry, US tax dollars, and bipartisan Congressional support of Zionism that renders any “peace process” a charade.

During the funeral, right-wing protestors screamed for blood, “Death to Arabs.”

“There is no forgiveness for murderers of children,” said Israeli Economy Minister Naphtali Bennett. “Now is a time for actions, not words.” And action it was, has been for years, and is. Without due process, the Israeli military exploded family homes of two suspects—an uncivilized reaction that continues a cycle of retribution. Go door-to-door, terrorizing men, women, and children. Destroy homes. Bomb them. Strike Gaza. Don’t investigate to determine who’s responsible for the kidnapping and deaths of Eyal Yifrach, Naftali Fraenkel, and Gilad Shaar. And announce with chutzpa, as Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Avalon just did, that settlements will be built to memorialize the three slain teens. Yes, they’d have taken this measure regardless, any excuse, but now it’s exceedingly opportune—exploiting the deaths of the young as a sacrosanct right to seize more land.

Of course Barack Obama issued a statement:

As a father, I cannot imagine the indescribable pain that the parents of these teenage boys are experiencing. The United States condemns in the strongest possible terms this senseless act of terror against innocent youth.

Interesting. Seems Obama’s forgotten Abdulrahman al-Awlaki, the teenager and US citizen on his Kill List, incinerated in a CIA-led drone strike. Obama can’t imagine the indescribable pain that this young man’s parent (singular) feels. That’s singular because the boy’s father, Anwar al-Awlaki also was on Obama’s Kill List and droned two weeks before the death of his son. The attack in Yemen on Oct 14, 2011 that killed the young al-Awalaki also killed his teenage cousin and at least five other civilians as they sat in a restaurant. Abdulrahman al-Awlaki was 16, the same age as two of the Israelis, but the murder of al-Awlaki was, well, sensible, to Obama.

Earlier today, Tuesday, I was in the lobby of my building where a TV is tuned daily to CNN. I stopped to view the faces of the three Israeli teenagers.

In May, two Palestinian teenagers were shot and killed in separate incidents by Israeli troops. Later, film from a surveillance camera was examined, providing evidence that neither teen posed a threat. Did world leaders speak to this horror? Call for justice? Of course not. Never do we see the faces of Palestinian children kidnapped and killed by the IDF—at least not on mainstream news networks. Nor do we see the wretchedness, the inhumanity, of Gaza.

Identical to American exceptionalism’s sadism, Israel’s violent acts are legitimized by righteousness and a response to the aggressor’s (?) viciousness.

The message is hypocritically clear: Some lives are more valuable than others. We hear the cries of the Jewish parents, the family members, their friends, and we feel their suffering. But let us understand that mothers and fathers, whether they’re Palestinian, Iraqi, Afghan, Syrian, Yemini, in the lands ravaged by US greed, anywhere, love their children as much as we love ours. Let us love not only the children of those we call our allies and our own but all children. Let us value all life.

Let us value all life was supposed to be the closing sentence in this piece. I should start over, but I won’t. Instead, I’ll just add more paragraphs.

The death of 16-year-old Muhammad Abu Khdeir, a Palestinian, has been reported by US mainstream news venues. On Wednesday morning, the teenager was kidnapped, his burned body found a couple of hours later—apparently a reprisal killing. His cousin has demanded that the Israeli police and Israeli government do what they did in Hebron: “Demolish and blow the settler houses who have done this crime.”

Netanyahu, fearful of individual retaliations, this time has called for an investigation, issuing a statement that Israel is a country of laws and “Everyone is ordered to act according to the law”—despite the lawlessness unleashed after the kidnapping of the Israeli teens and further lawlessness after their bodies were discovered. Despite no inquiry to determine who killed them but instead a rampage of terror against the Palestinians.

Reading a New York Times article, I gasped that a Facebook group was created to promote revenge for the deaths of the Israeli teens. A photo was posted of two girls, holding a sign: “Hating Arabs is not racism, it’s values!”

This is eye for an eye. And everyone will be blind.

  1. The Murder of Iman al-Hams

The soldier in the watchtower radioed his colleagues after he saw Iman: “It’s a little girl. She’s running defensively eastward.”

Operations room: “Are we talking about a girl under the age of 10?”

Watchtower: “A girl of about 10, she’s behind the embankment, scared to death.”

A few minutes later, Iman is shot in the leg from one of the army posts.

The watchtower: “I think that one of the positions took her out.”

The company commander then moves in as Iman lies wounded and helpless.

Captain R: “I and another soldier … are going in a little nearer, forward, to confirm the kill … Receive a situation report. We fired and killed her … I also confirmed the kill. Over.”

Witnesses described how the captain shot Iman twice in the head, walked away, turned back and fired a stream of bullets into her body. Doctors at Rafah’s hospital said she had been shot at least 17 times.

On the tape, the company commander then “clarifies” why he killed Iman: “This is commander. Anything that’s mobile, that moves in the zone, even if it’s a three-year-old, needs to be killed. Over.”

  4. It is not “libel” if it is TRUE: Since September 2000, Israel’s military has “sacrificed” one Palestinian child every four days, using American tax dollars. The WAR god worshipers DO “sacrifice” Gentile Children.
Exodus 29:25 And thou shalt receive them of their hands, and burn them upon the altar for a BURNT OFFERING, for a SWEET SAVOR before the Lord: it is an offering made by fire unto the Lord……… A “burnt offering”,
Exodus 29:42 This shall be a continual burnt offering throughout your generations ….

  5. I can’t wait to see these cowardly little cockroach child killers try to fight against an actual moral army of real men like Hizb-allah. Gonna be awesome fun to watch the IDF cockroach army run like fkn hell from the real bullets and missiles of an army that has every Moral Right on earth to wipe the little illegitimate racist terrorist “state” from the map. And just for 9-11 alone, the U.S. (if it had a real government) should land about 10,000 Marines on the shores of Israhell to take the actual fight against terrorism right into the heart of the terrorist state that has attacked American soldiers and citizens on TEN separate historical occasions from 1947 onward. Israhell is America’s and the world’s NUMBER ONE ENEMY. Time to fight a real war against terrorism – It’s time for the world to unite and fight Israhell until it is just a large burning carcass and sad horrific memory of history gone wrong. God Himself will drive this cursed immoral deluded people into the Sea. The Land, ALL of it, shall be returned to the Palestinian People! The global backlash against all of Israel’s numerous sick crimes is only just beginning. The Tsunami wave of righteousness will wash them all away very soon.

  7. This is classic “Orwellian Speech.” It seems like the entire world is being saturated with such rhetoric. Can’t wait until I hear one of these Zionist proclaim that death is good for you, (not unlike a “little” radiation is good for you, or, “we must pass the bill to find out what’s in it”). World-wide, people do not want war. Only the so-called “leaders” that are shielded from it. Think about it. Time to bring war to the “Leaders”?

  8. Israeli licence plates are different in colour and are of different number block to that of Palestinian licence plates, allowing a checkpoint guard to spot the different colour from 50yds away – yellow/orange for Jews, blue/green for Palestinians.

As this was a high security Jewish area, how then did the Hamas car get through checkpoints ?
It couldn’t have, and had it ignored the motion to halt, and instead kept on boring through, it would have ended up full of holes, wouldn’t it ?
And even if nothing drastic like that had happened, then why didn’t at least one of the three boys spot that this was a Palestinian licence plate when the offer of a lift home was made by someone speaking Hebrew in a Arabic accent ?

Look again at the three sets of flag draped remains at the funeral service, do they look as if they are in coffins, as the SBStv Australia narration stated that they were ?

As the covered remains were, in parts, of low and varying profile, then most certainly the flags were not covering coffins – you call them caskets, what then were they covering, since the outline and dimensions and contour did not indicate human remains underneath ? More like bundled straw – with weights, so as not to appear insubstantive on being stretcher carried.

Perchance, are the photos of the three young Israelis, allegedly abducted, actually photos on file of unknown boys from a earlier generation plucked out of a anonymous crowd scene, and then blown up a little ?
If these three boys were friends, how come the three photos are of each of the boys, but there’s not a group photo, and if one appears now, i think it’ll be an add on ?

So i don’t think they were friends, but, either way, does this mean that the Hamas guy was going to do, a door, to door, to door drop off ?
Wouldn’t that in itself get the antennas quivering ? To give a lift to three youngsters is a nice gesture, but then to offer to take the three of them to their separate addresses, and in a car with Palestinian licence plates ???

Just, just, too too good to be true.

So, for all of the above, at the risk of sounding outrageous, the event alleged of 12/6/2014 did not happen.

To continue, what of the names, then, of the three teens ? Where from ? That’s the easiest part to figure out of their whole invented narrative; their names were also invented.
The father at the funeral oration was an actor, which also explains why the ‘mothers’ seemed not under any distress when on camera during the period of the ‘search’.
