Syrian Foreign Minister: US to Conduct Airstrikes Against IS for 3 Years

The United States has informed Syria that it will conduct airstrikes against the Islamic State (IS) for three years, Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem said Saturday.
“They [the United States and its allies] said they will strike for three years. They informed us but this doesn’t mean they have our acceptance,” Muallem said.
Earlier in September, the United States announced the formation of an international coalition aimed at fighting IS militants. Washington and its allies have already conducted a number of airstrikes on IS positions both in Syria and Iraq.
The United States has been carrying out airstrikes against the IS on the Syrian territory without any formal permission from Damascus.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Friday that the coalition should seek consent of the countries, in which the airstrikes are conducted.

British propaganda campaign incited mass slaughter of communists in Indonesia in 1960s, declassified papers reveal

British spies played a part in the mass murder of Communist Party of Indonesia (PKI) members in the 1960s, urging locals, including army generals, to “cut out” the “communist cancer,” declassified papers have revealed.
The Indonesian Army’s brutal clampdown on the PKI in 1965 and 1966 is considered to be one of the worst mass murders of the 20th century. Between 500,000 and three million supporters of the Communist Party were slaughtered, according to various estimations.
Declassified Foreign Office documents, which were recently released by Britain’s National Archives and seen by The Guardian newspaper, indicate that the UK isn’t without fault in those shocking events.
The British Foreign Office had always denied the country’s involvement in the brutal clampdown on those blamed of communist links in Indonesia. … continue

Each time the US has set deadlines for military conflicts, it has not been able to keep those deadlines. There is something strange in the way in which the US conducts itself in the community of nations. Why would the US create groups to fight proxy wars on its behalf. For example, in Nicaragua, Afghanistan, etc. In the case of Syria, the US armed the “so-called moderates” against the legitimate government and overthrew functioning governments in Libya and Iraq. With these countries experiencing internecine conflicts, the US then says to them: establish democratic governance while at the same time touting its own experiment in perfecting its own democracy. How long did the US Civil War last — 13 years? How long was the US infrastructure bombed intermittently? There is something strange in the psyche of the men who seek to set the agenda of the Middle East.
