Man Killed by LAPD said to be Street Performer with Plastic Prop Knife; Cops Accused of Planting Real Knife

Los Angeles police gunned down a man at a busy Hollywood intersection Friday night, claiming he had been trying to attack them with a knife, causing them to fear for their lives, which is why they fired several rounds, leaving his body laying on a corner as shocked witnesses looked on.
But some locals are saying the man was merely a street performer known as “J” who would pose with tourists holding a prop knife made of plastic.
The area of Hollywood Blvd where he was killed is near the famous Walk of Fame and is renowned for its street performers who dress up in costumes and play roles to the amusement of tourists. Many of the performers dress up as characters from Hollywood movies, who pose with tourists for photos in exchange for tips.
The man shot was said to be impersonating the character from Scream, a 1996 horror movie, about a masked man with a knife who murders teenagers with a knife as pictured below.
LAPD is not releasing any information on the shooting, except for tweeting a picture of a folding knife laying near the body, perhaps a Swiss Army Knife, carried by boy scouts everywhere.
But some skeptics are saying the knife was planted because it is not clearly visible in the video recorded in the immediate aftermath of the shooting and posted to Facebook.
I’ve watched the video several times and cannot make out a knife, but I cannot say with certainty it is not there.
However, the first several minutes of the video, which is posted below, show police clamoring all over the area where the knife was eventually photographed.
And at 4:44, a man dressed in blue wearing gloves bends down and appears to lay something on the ground.
Jordan White, the man who recorded the video, said the man was unarmed.
So this could potentially be a huge scandal for the scandal-ridden LAPD.

The prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test has screened 30 million American men annually for over three decades. The man who discovered PSA in 1970, Richard Ablin, now calls mass screening “a public health disaster.” Two landmark 2012 studies found no survival benefit from radical surgery compared to watchful waiting. The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force concluded PSA screening does more harm than good. Yet the $3 billion annual industry continues largely unabated.
These revelations emerge from three insider accounts: Ablin’s The Great Prostate Hoax, urologist Anthony Horan’s The Rise and Fall of the Prostate Cancer Scam, and oncologist Mark Scholz’s Invasion of the Prostate Snatchers. Together they document how a test meant to monitor existing cancer patients became a screening juggernaut that has left millions of men incontinent, impotent, or dead from unnecessary treatment.
The numbers are staggering. Since 1987, when PSA screening exploded nationwide, over one million American men have undergone radical prostatectomies. Studies show 40 to 50 men must be diagnosed and treated to prevent one death from prostate cancer. The other 39 to 49 men receive no benefit but face permanent side effects. Medicare and the Veterans Administration fund most of this treatment, pouring billions into a system that prominent urologists privately acknowledge has failed.

That’s LAPD. I recognize one of them from when I lived in LA, as not abiding to the details of complaints. He’s the one looking at things and then shuffling, in the back while the others point. If there was planted proof, that creep did it. The meatpile on the corner, father of 5, merry Christmas kids, dang.

Even if the knife WAS there, good grief.. kill someone for something you could barely peel a potato with? I’m so sick of these stories. Something has to change.

Knife was not planted. Was probably beneath body where it fell in street since witnesses reported that police were yelling that he still had the knife. This would also explain why they waited more than a minute to move in – so they didn’t get stabbed if the assailent was still conscious. They would have moved the knife away from the body at this time, both for safety’s sake and to protect the chain of custody. It would have been placed (not planted) on the sidewalk later to be photographed.
BTW, the dead man was not dressed in his Scream costume that evening, nor did he display his fake prop knife. No witnesses reported seeing that, only a real knife. Did he make the mistake of trying to play his character without the usual props? Mental issues? Suicide by cop? Sad.

Funny that “suicide by cop” has only become an idiom since police began being trained by Israelis.
One wonders at the urgency to shoot this individual. I’m not trained in martial arts, but if I were armed and encountered an incoherent individual with such a knife I would not feel threatened enough to take his life.
