US Used Military Bases in Afghanistan to Keep Watch on Entire Region, Russian Diplomat Says

MOSCOW – Russia’s special presidential envoy for Afghanistan, Zamir Kabulov, said on Thursday that nearly half of the US military bases in Afghanistan were used to keep strategic tabs on the wider region.
“Of the 19 [US bases] that we know of, somewhat about seven or eight had nothing to do with Afghanistan and had nothing to do with the situation there”, Kabulov told the Echo of Moscow radio station.
The diplomat emphasised that the American contingents were conveniently placed in Afghanistan to be closer to the Middle East, Russia, Central Asia and China.
“[The US military] kept an eye on the Pakistani and Indian nuclear arsenal”, Kabulov added.
The United States and NATO began pulling their ground forces out of Afghanistan on 1 May. The withdrawal resulted in a flare-up of tensions between the government forces and the Taliban. The radical movement stepped up the territorial advances and is believed to have captured large rural areas in the country’s north.

Statistically, what happens to U.S. troops is almost nothing. In human terms, it’s overwhelming.

Jones presents the choice before us in the clearest terms in the introduction:
Contrary to common opinion in the United States, war is not inevitable. Nor has it always been with us. War is a human invention — an organized, deliberate action of an anti-social kind — and in the long span of human life on Earth, a fairly recent one. For more than 99 percent of the time that humans have lived on this planet, most of them have never made war. Many languages don’t even have a word for it. Turn off CNN and read anthropology. You’ll see.
What’s more, war is obsolete. Most nations don’t make war anymore, except when coerced by the United States to join some spurious ‘coalition.’ The earth is so small, and our time here so short. No other nation on the planet makes war as often, as long, as forcefully, as expensively, as destructively, as wastefully, as senselessly, or as unsuccessfully as the United States. No other nation makes war its business.

Noted with interest. The map: Good god–such a mishmash of nations and geography! One obtains a renewed sense of the historic folly of all the USraeli/MIC Zionist-driven colonial/imperial hubris and machinations…utter failure (and the waste of Trillions of Benjamins and deaths/misery of multi-millions of human beings) guaranteed for all sentient and objective observers. As a Father, the Lord knows that simply “whisking away” our problems and mistakes in the blink of an eye will teach us nothing and be of little benefit, especially when they are the same repeated mistakes that we have made for generations. He takes care of things in His perfect Will and Time, not ours.
