Israel pushes US on military action against Iran

Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi has called on the United States to develop new “operational plans” to take on the Iranian military, urging top US defense and intelligence officials to “accelerate” joint efforts to counter the Islamic Republic.
Kochavi held a series of meetings with Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan and CIA Director William Burns, the IDF said in a press release on Tuesday, noting that he discussed the “Iranian threat” with each of the officials he spoke with since landing in the US on Sunday morning.
“We are at a critical point in time which requires the acceleration of the operational plans and the cooperation against Iran and its proxies in the region,” Kochavi said after the meetings. “On the one hand, Iran is under many economic, military and internal pressures, and on the other hand continues to advance the nuclear project.”
During his sit-down with General Milley, the two officials discussed “strengthening cooperation between the [US and Israeli] armies against threats in the region, chief among them the Iranian nuclear threat,” according to the IDF. Sullivan, too, said the White House would carry out its pledge to “prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.”
While Israel has offered little evidence supporting the existence of an Iranian nuclear weapons program, officials have claimed for decades that Tehran is on the cusp of developing its own bomb. The Islamic Republic has denied any plans to build nuclear weapons – with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei issuing a fatwa (religious decree) against all weapons of mass destruction in 2003 – and passed numerous inspections by the UN’s nuclear watchdog under a major deal signed with world powers in 2015.
However, after Washington unilaterally withdrew from the nuclear deal under President Donald Trump, Tehran has steadily scaled back its compliance, boosting its enrichment of uranium and building new advanced centrifuges while demanding an end to US sanctions. Iran has nonetheless insisted that such steps do not indicate it is seeking a nuclear weapon, despite continued allegations from the United States and Israel.

For over 25 years, Israel and the U.S. have been waging war on Iran accusing it of all sorts of alleged actions. The constant being Iran attempting to build a nuclear weapon. As anyone would know, it doesn’t take 25 years to master the tech to build a nuclear bomb, if Iran wanted to do this, they would have done it wellbefore now. We have Iran building their defensive military technology, they build their ow aircraft, missiles, defensive air protection and lately, we are told they have climbed on board of succeeding in building missiles 5 times faster than the speed of sound. Something the U.S. can only dream about. I can understand Israels fears. But if they didn;t demonise the Iranians to the extent that they do, they wouldn’t have anything to fear then would they ?

Who is the problem in the Middle East? Iran? which hasn’t attacked any of its neighbours, or Israel, which manipulates it’s “pet Donkey”, the USA?

Given the disproportionate and relentless pressure this tiny entity exerts on the US Administration to wage its criminal wars – against the Arab World, Iraq, Libya, Syria and the Islamic World in general – Iran is justified in building defensive weaponry. And given the Zionist’s nuclear arsenal and its constant sabotage of Iranian nuclear research and murder of her scientists, it is reasonable to assume it is conspiring with the US to launch a nuclear attack on Iran. Not only will it kill and maim millions of innocent Iranians and destroy valuable historic cultural assets but contaminate the Middle East interminably. The Zealots must be reined in.

George Carlin was awesome, still is. Israel has dirt files all over because they make them. I read a confession statement about a clean honest influential man that papa Bush wanted compromised. Idly scrolling, I found no references to Middle East, Palestine, EU/NATO, Russia, China, Cuba, Venezuela, Iran, Syria, DPRK, or any other focus on foreign affairs, which is my (amateur/unschooled) passion. I did note and copy this elegant statement that includes “…human rights” and “…around the world”:
“The Rutherford Institute has emerged as one of the nation’s leading advocates of civil liberties and human rights, litigating in the courts and education [ed. note: educating!] the public on a wide spectrum of issues affecting individual freedom in the United States and around the world.”
Do “human rights,” to RI, encompass the human rights of the Palestinian people? If not, I’m not interested. At the end of every day-cum-decades, I’m a one-issue guy….

I feel the same, Brian, at the same age. But we may have an unexpressed effect. As you know, the ‘Occupiers’ are past masters at delusion and silencing opponents. One day the Great American Public and the rest of the World will rise up to over-throw the self-possessed, avaricious, aggressive and arrogant dictators. Unfortunately, it is likely to take “a cataclysmic event” to trigger it and we’ll all suffer. The peaceful solution would be to use the law to incarcerate the ‘High Priests’ of war, finance, political manipulation and syndicated media. As if they haven’t occupied the legal system too.
