We may be witnessing the ongoing destruction of one of the greatest pillars of postwar American global influence and hegemony.
Late last week an astonishing event occurred in American society, and video clips of that incident quickly went viral across the Internet.
A 30-year-old Tufts doctoral student and Fulbright Scholar from Turkey was walking across her Boston-area neighborhood on the way to a holiday dinner at a friend’s house when she was suddenly seized and abducted in the early evening by six masked federal agents of the Department of Homeland Security. The terrified young woman was handcuffed and taken to a waiting car, secretly detained for the next 24 hours without access to friends, family, or lawyers, then shipped off to a holding cell in Louisiana and scheduled for immediate deportation, although a federal judge has now temporarily stayed the proceedings.
Just one of the Tweets showing a short clip of that incident has been viewed more than 4.5 million times, with a much longer YouTube video accumulating another couple of hundred thousand views.
That very disturbing scene seemed like something out of a Hollywood film chronicling the actions of a dystopian American police state, and that initial impression was only solidified once media reports explained why Rumeysa Ozturk was snatched off the streets of her home town. Her only reported transgression had been her co-authorship of an op-ed piece in the Tufts student newspaper a year earlier sharply criticizing Israel and its ongoing attacks on the civilian population of Gaza.
Apparently, one of the many powerful pro-Israel censorship organizations funded by Zionist billionaires became outraged over her sentiments and decided to make a public example of her, so its minions in the subservient Trump Administration immediately ordered her arrest.
CBS News covered a local protest demonstration demanding the young woman’s release, and quoted the remarks of one of the participants:
“The university campus should absolutely be a place for the free and open exchange of ideas and the fact that someone can just be disappeared into the abyss for voicing an idea is absolutely horrifying,” said rally attendee Sam Wachman.
Now supposed that such a scene—for such a reason—had taken place on the streets of Russia, China, Iran, or any other country viewed with great disfavor by our government. Surely that incident would have quickly become the centerpiece of a massive global propaganda offensive aimed at blackening the reputation of the regime responsible. Audiences worldwide would have been forcefully told that the arrest demonstrated the terrible dangers of living in a society lacking the freedoms guaranteed by our own Constitution and our Bill of Rights. I don’t recall seeing any recent propaganda campaigns along these lines, so that suggests that such incidents are extremely rare in those countries.
But unfortunately that is hardly the case in today’s America. A day or two before that Tufts graduate student was snatched off the streets of her city, a 21-year-old Columbia University junior went into hiding to avoid a similar fate after federal agents raided her campus dorm to arrest her. As the Times reported, high school valedictorian Yunseo Chung had moved to the U.S. with her family from South Korea when she was 7, but her permanent residency was suddenly revoked for her public criticism of Israeli policy. She was ordered immediately deported back to a country that she barely even remembered.
This followed the storm of controversy unleashed earlier this month by the very high profile arrest of Mahmoud Khalil, a recent Columbia graduate student heavily involved in last year’s campus protests against the Israeli attacks on Gaza. Seized in an early morning raid on his campus student housing, which he shared with his wife, an American citizen eight months pregnant, he was taken off to detention, first in New Jersey and then transferred to a holding cell in Louisiana, once again with no initial access to his family, friends, or lawyers.
As a Green Card holder—a permanent legal resident of the U.S.—he was considered fully entitled to all the normal rights and privileges of an American citizen, but Secretary of State Marco Rubio declared that his Green Card would be canceled and he would be deported based upon an obscure legal doctrine never previously employed for that purpose, eliciting a strong legal challenge in federal court. Moreover, his transfer from a New Jersey jurisdiction to a different one in the Deep South also seemed to violate normal legal procedures.
A week after that arrest, Ranjani Srinivasan, another Columbia doctoral candidate from India on a Fulbright Scholarship, hurriedly packed her bags and fled the country to Canada when she narrowly missed being arrested by federal authorities who raided her student housing. As the New York Times reported:
“The atmosphere seemed so volatile and dangerous,” Ms. Srinivasan, 37, said on Friday in an interview with The New York Times, her first public remarks since leaving. “So I just made a quick decision.”
A day earlier Rubio explained that he had already authorized the arrest and immediate deportation of more than 300 students around the country for their criticism of Israel, so these particular cases obviously represented merely the tip of a very large iceberg.
In past decades, the academic leadership of a top Ivy League school such as Columbia might have stoutly defended the students in its community. But any such resistance was broken when the Trump Administration suddenly pulled $400 million in annual funding. The demands included full cooperation with the arrest of any students critical of Israeli policies, the creation of a new internal security force to suppress any anti-Israel campus protests, and “receivership” for the university’s prestigious Middle Eastern Studies Program, presumably resulting in firm Zionist control.
Acting President Katrina Armstrong bowed to those demands, sacrificing the academic freedom of her faculty members and the personal freedom of her students. But faced with such enormous conflicting pressures, she then resigned on Friday evening, some seven months after her predecessor had resigned for roughly similar reasons.
That same day newspapers also reported that the top leadership of Harvard University’s equally prestigious Middle Eastern Studies Center had been dismissed, probably ensuring that after more than seventy years this independent academic organization would henceforth become firmly pro-Israel in its orientation. Last year, after Harvard’s previous president had strongly defended academic freedom before a hostile Congressional committee, she was quickly forced to resign.
As I casually examined the home page of the New York Times website on Saturday, I noticed five different articles reporting these striking blows to intellectual freedom at a number of our top American universities, and it’s quite possible that I may have missed one or two others.

For the last several generations, America’s elite academic institutions have been among the most prestigious in the world, drawing top students from across the globe and constituting a central pillar of our country’s soft power. Until last year, no previous case came to mind of an Ivy League president having been abruptly removed for political reasons. But over the last twelve months, four or five different Ivy League presidents have suffered that fate.
Similarly, I had never heard of any previous cases of peaceful college students being arrested by teams of masked federal officers, either seized from their dorm rooms in sudden raids or snatched off the streets of their local city.
Consider an ironic historical comparison. During the early 1950s the Rosenbergs were convicted and executed for their involvement in a Soviet spy-ring that gave our nuclear weapons secrets to Stalin. But as far as I know their arrest was handled in a very subdued fashion, with merely a couple of FBI agents quietly taking them into federal custody despite the capital charges that they faced. So apparently public criticism of Israel is today regarded as a far more serious and dangerous offense than nuclear espionage had been at the absolute height of the Cold War.
Indeed, the closest historical example that comes to mind were the notorious Palmer Raids of late 1919 and early 1920, which led to the deportation of several hundred immigrants. But these round-ups occurred in the wake of the Bolshevik Revolution and waves of terrorist bombing attacks across many American cities, with Attorney-General A. Mitchell Palmer narrowly surviving two separate assassination attempts, including a bombing that destroyed his own Washington, DC home. Meanwhile, most of the immigrants arrested and deported were relatively recent arrivals, generally anarchist or Bolshevik radicals who had declared their intent to overthrow the American government.
Perhaps there have been previous examples of college students arrested merely for writing campus newspaper op-eds advocating peaceful and perfectly legal positions. But I don’t recall reading of any such egregious cases in my introductory history textbooks so I tend to doubt it.
One rather strange aspect of the current situation is that no students seem to have been arrested for voicing public criticism of the American government or even President Donald Trump. Only criticism of the Jewish State of Israel or Jews themselves seems to provoke such severe legal repression. This brings to mind a very shrewd observation, widely misattributed to Voltaire:
To learn who rules over you, simply find out who you are not allowed to criticize.
Since World War II elite American universities have tended to attract the best and the brightest young men and women from around the world, thereby shaping the minds of so many future global leaders. So I suspect that these shocking news stories of harsh ideological crackdowns on academic freedom and sudden dramatic arrests by masked federal agents are already reverberating around the world, severely damaging one of the few remaining pillars of American geopolitical dominance.
Perhaps only small numbers of ordinary Americans have been following the sudden, desperate plight of these top students from Turkey, South Korea, or India, but I think that a very large fraction of the educated elites of those important American allies are fully aware of what has transpired, and they are utterly horrified.
Under the control of its pro-Israel masters, the leading figures of the Trump Administration seem determined to severely wound or actually destroy the foremost institutions of our globally-dominant system of higher education.
Indeed, even before the latest round of these striking incidents, the eminent political scientist John Mearsheimer had declared that the Israel Lobby posed the greatest threat to American freedom of speech, with his views strongly seconded by Prof. Jeffrey Sachs of Columbia University and also former CIA Officer Philip Giraldi:
Although I was deeply shocked by these harsh Trump Administration attacks against freedom of speech and academic freedom, perhaps I should not have been. In many respects, they merely extended what had already occurred last year under his equally pro-Israel Democratic predecessor President Joseph Biden, as I had covered at the time in numerous articles.
For example, almost eleven months ago in early May 2024 I discussed the ongoing waves of university protests and the reasons behind their appearance, as well as the unprecedented crackdowns used to suppress them, a reaction so totally different than what had occurred regarding any previous campus political activism. Given the very harsh legal sanctions now imposed upon many of the participants, I think it’s worth revisiting that history at length:
From the years of my childhood I’d always been aware that political activism and protests were a regular feature of college life, with the 1960s movement against our Vietnam War representing one of its peaks, an effort widely lauded in our later textbooks and media accounts for its heroic idealism. During the 1980s I remember seeing a long line of crudely constructed shanties protesting South African Apartheid that spent weeks occupying the edges of the Harvard Yard or perhaps it was the Stanford Quad, and I think around the same time other shanties and protesters at UCLA maintained a long vigil in support of the Jewish Refuseniks of the USSR. Political protests seemed as much a normal part of college years as final exams and had largely replaced the hazing rituals and wild pranks of traditional fraternities, which were increasingly vilified as politically incorrect by hostile social censors among the students and faculty.
Over the last decade or so, the Black Lives Matter movement raised such nationwide protests by college students to new heights, both on and off campus, often involving large marches, sit-ins, or vandalism, and this may have been propelled by the increasing influence of smartphones and social media. Meanwhile, the mainstream media regularly praised and promoted this “racial justice movement,” which reached its sharp peak following the death of George Floyd in the summer of 2020. That incident triggered a massive wave of generally youthful political protests, riots, and looting that engulfed some 200 cities across America, the worst urban unrest since the late 1960s. But unlike that earlier era, most of our establishment media and political class fiercely denounced any suggestions that the police be deployed to quell the violence. Indeed, in many or most cases local law enforcement stood down and did nothing, even as some of their political masters loudly raised the outcry “Defund the Police!”
During those years many universities became heavily caught up in such controversies. Yale renamed its Calhoun residential college in early 2017 and the list of name changes due to the 2020 George Floyd protests is so long that it has its own Wikipedia page, a list that included some of our most storied military bases such as Ft. Bragg and Ft. Hood. Verbal or even physical attacks against the symbols and statues of America’s most famous presidents and national heroes became quite common and were often favorably reported in the media, with George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, and Christopher Columbus all being vilified and denounced, sometimes with elite endorsement. A lead opinion piece in the New York Times called for the Jefferson Memorial to be replaced with a towering statue of a black woman while one of the regular Times columnists repeatedly demanded that all monuments honoring George Washington should suffer a similar fate. Many observers argued that America almost seemed to be undergoing its own version of the Chinese Cultural Revolution amid widespread claims that much of our entire historical past was irretrievably tainted and therefore had to be expunged from the public square.
Most of these political protests, especially those on college campuses, were widely hailed by those holding the media megaphones as signifying one of the greatest virtues of American democracy. The many elite defenders of such social and cultural upheavals argued that these events demonstrated the great strength of our society, which freely allowed the fiercest public attacks against our most sacred national icons and heroes. Americans accepted the sort of searing self-criticism that would surely be permitted almost nowhere else in the world.
That long history of permitting or even glorifying public protests against perceived injustices had naturally been absorbed and taken to heart by the young college students who began their classes in September 2023. Then within weeks, a remarkably daring surprise raid by the Hamas militants of long-besieged Gaza caught the Israelis napping and surmounted the high-tech defenses that had cost perhaps a half-billion dollars to construct. Many hundreds of Israeli soldiers and security officers were killed along with similar numbers of civilians, with most of the latter probably dying from the friendly-fire of Israel’s own panic-stricken and trigger-happy military units. Some 240 Israeli soldiers and civilians were captured and taken back to Gaza as prisoners, with Hamas hoping to exchange them for the freedom of the many thousands of Palestinian civilians who had been held for years in Israeli prisons, often under brutal conditions.
As usual, our overwhelmingly pro-Israel mainstream media portrayed the attack in extremely one-sided fashion, devoid of any historical context, a pattern that had been followed for three generations. As a result, Israel received an enormous outpouring of public and elite sympathy as it mobilized for a retaliatory attack against Gaza. Within days, our own Secretary of State Antony Blinken flew to Israel declaring that he came “as a Jew” and pledging America’s unwavering support in that moment of crisis, sentiments completely echoed by President Joseph Biden and his entire administration. But the Hamas fighters and their Israeli captives were hidden in a network of fortified tunnels and rooting them out might produce heavy casualties, so Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his advisors decided upon a different strategy.
Instead of attacking Hamas, Netanyahu took advantage of the wave of global sympathy by unleashing an unprecedented military assault against Gaza’s more than two million civilians, apparently intending to kill huge numbers of them and drive the remainder into Egypt’s Sinai desert, allowing Israel to annex their territory and resettle it with Jews. Soon afterward, the Israeli government began distributing assault rifles to the Jewish Settlers of the West Bank, ordering some 24,000 of those automatic weapons for that purpose. Putting such armaments into the hands of religious fanatics would surely lead to local massacres and these might provide an excuse for driving all those millions of Palestinians over the border into Jordan. The ultimate result would be the creation of a racially-pure Greater Israel stretching “From the River to the Sea,” the longstanding dream of the Zionist movement. So if he were successful, Netanyahu’s place in Jewish history might become a glorious one, with his many venal sins and blunders easily overlooked.
As American airlifts supplied an unending flood of the necessary munitions, the Israelis began a massive aerial bombardment campaign against densely-populated Gaza and its helpless residents. Secure in their underground tunnels, relatively few Hamas fighters were killed, but Gaza’s civilians suffered devastating losses, much of it inflicted by two thousand pound bombs, almost never previously deployed against urban targets. Large portions of Gaza were soon transformed into moonscapes, with some 100,000 buildings destroyed, including hospitals, churches, mosques, schools, universities, government offices, bakeries, and all the other infrastructure necessary for maintaining civilian life. After just a few weeks, the Financial Times reported that the destruction inflicted upon much of Gaza was already worse than had been suffered by German cities after years of Allied bombing attacks during World War II.
Although Netanyahu was strictly secular, he played to his religious base by publicly declaring the Palestinians to be the tribe of Amalek, whom the Hebrew God had commanded be exterminated down to the last newborn baby. Many other top Israeli leaders voiced very similar genocidal sentiments, and some of the more zealously religious Israeli soldiers and commanders probably took those statements quite literally.
This gigantic bloodlust was further inflamed as the Israeli government and its supportive propagandists began promoting outrageous Hamas atrocity-hoaxes such as beheaded or roasted Israeli babies, sexual mutilations, and gang-rapes. The notoriously pro-Israel global media credulously reported these stories, using them to deflect attention from the enormous ongoing slaughter of Palestinian civilians. To ensure that the coverage remained one-sided, the Israelis targeted independent journalists in Gaza for death, killing some 140 of them over the last few months, a figure as large as the combined total in all the world’s other wars over the last several years.
With Israel’s leaders publicly declaring their genocidal plans for their Palestinian enemies and Israeli troops committing the greatest televised massacre of helpless civilians in the history of the world, international organizations gradually came under strong pressure to involve themselves in the ongoing conflict. In late December, South Africa filed a 91-page legal brief with the International Court of Justice (ICJ) accusing Israel of committing genocide. Within a few weeks the ICJ jurists issued a series of near-unanimous rulings supporting those charges and declaring that the Gazans were at serious risk of suffering a potential genocide at Israel’s hands, with Israel’s own appointed judge, a former Chief Justice of the Israeli Supreme Court, concurring in most of those verdicts.
But instead of backing off, Netanyahu’s government merely redoubled its attacks against Gaza, tightening the blockade of food shipments by banning the UN organization responsible for distributing them. The Israelis apparently believed that the combination of starvation, bombs, and missiles would be the most effective means of killing or driving out all the Palestinians.
In past decades, these horrifying events might have gone relatively unnoticed, with the overwhelmingly pro-Israel gatekeepers of our mainstream media ensuring that little if any of this distressing information reached the eyes or ears of ordinary Americans. But technological developments had changed this media landscape since video clips on relatively uncensored social platforms such as TikTok and Elon Musk’s Twitter now easily circumvented that blockade. Despite their decades of suffering and oppression, Gaza’s Palestinians were a fully modern people, well-equipped with smartphones, and the scenes they filmed were shared worldwide, quickly attracting huge audiences among the younger Americans who relied upon social media as their primary source of news.
For generations, college students had been heavily indoctrinated with the horrors of the Holocaust, endlessly told that they must never remain silent while helpless men, women, and children were brutally attacked and slaughtered. The images they now saw of devastated cities and dead or dying children seemed exactly like something out of the movies, but they were instead happening in real-time in the physical world.
A couple of years earlier, the Trump and the Biden Administrations had both jointly proclaimed that the Chinese government was guilty of “genocide” against its Uighur minority despite lack of any evidence that significant numbers of Uighurs had been harmed let alone killed. So by that standard, the total destruction of Gaza and the massive slaughter or deliberate starvation of millions of its people obviously constituted an enormous “genocide,” and within weeks student activists all across college campuses had taken up that cry and begun organizing public protests against the horrendous massacre that Israel was committing.
Three years earlier, a lifelong career criminal named George Floyd had died of a drug overdose while in police custody, and a single, highly-misleading video of his last moments had provoked the greatest wave of American public protests since the late 1960s. So it was hardly surprising that the widespread dissemination of hundreds or thousands of videos showing dead and mutilated Gazan children inspired a powerful protest movement. But this time, instead of being praised for their humanitarian commitment, those students—and the university administrators who allowed their protests—were ferociously attacked and punished as I described at the time:
With graphic images of devastated Gaza neighborhoods and dead Palestinian children so widespread on Twitter and other social media outlets, polls have revealed that a majority of younger Americans now favor Hamas and the Palestinians in their ongoing struggle with Israel. This is a shocking reversal from the views of their parents, which had been shaped by generations of overwhelmingly pro-Israel material across broadcast television, films, and print publications, and such trends are only likely to continue now that Israel is being prosecuted in the International Court of Justice by South Africa and 22 other nations, accused of committing genocide in Gaza.
As a consequence of these strong youthful sentiments, anti-Israel demonstrations have erupted at many of our universities, outraging numerous pro-Israel billionaire donors. Almost immediately, some of the latter launched a harsh retaliatory campaign, with many corporate leaders declaring that they would permanently blacklist from future employment opportunities any college students publicly supporting the Palestinian cause, underscoring these threats with a widespread “doxxing” campaign at Harvard and other elite colleges.
A few weeks ago, our uniformly pro-Israel elected officials entered the fray, calling the presidents of several of our most elite colleges—Harvard, Penn, and MIT—to testify before them regarding alleged “antisemitism” on their campuses. Members of Congress severely brow-beat these officials for permitting anti-Israel activities, even ignorantly and absurdly accusing them of allowing public calls for “Jewish genocide” on their campuses.
The responses of these college leaders emphasized their support for freedom of political speech but were deemed so unsatisfactory by pro-Israel donors and their mainstream media allies that enormous pressure was exerted to remove them. Within days, the Penn president and her supportive Board chairman had been forced to resign, and soon afterward Harvard’s first black president suffered the same fate, as pro-Israel groups released evidence of her widespread academic plagiarism to drive her from office.
I am unaware of any previous case in which the president of an elite American college had been so rapidly removed from office for ideological reasons and two successive examples within just a few weeks seems an absolutely unprecedented development, having enormous implications for academic freedom.
I’d think that most of these students were absolutely stunned at such reactions. For decades, they and their predecessors had freely protested on a wide range of political causes without ever encountering even a sliver of such vicious retaliation, let alone an organized campaign that quickly forced the resignation of two of the Ivy League presidents who had allowed their protests. Some of their student organizations were immediately banned and the future careers of the protesters were harshly threatened, but the horrifying images from Gaza continued to reach their smartphones. As Jonathan Greenblatt of the ADL had previously explained in a leaked phone call, “We have a major TikTok problem.”
Indeed, the Israelis continued to generate an avalanche of gripping content for those videos. Mobs of Israeli activists regularly blocked the passage of food-trucks, and within a few weeks, senior UN officials declared that more than a million Gazans were on the verge of a deadly famine. When the desperate, starving Gazans swarmed one of those few food delivery convoys allowed through, the Israeli military shot and killed more than 100 of them in the “Flour Massacre” and this was later repeated. All these horrific scenes of death and deliberate starvation were broadcast worldwide on social media, with some of the worst examples coming from the accounts of gleeful Israeli soldiers, such as their video of the corpse of a Palestinian child being eaten by a starving dog. Another image showed the remains of a bound Palestinian prisoner who had been crushed flat while still alive by an Israeli tank. According to a European human rights organization, the Israelis had regularly used bulldozers to bury alive large numbers of Palestinians. UN officials reported finding mass graves near several hospitals, with the victims found bound and stripped, shot execution-style. As Internet provocateur Andrew Anglin has pointed out, the behavior of the Israeli Jews does not seem merely evil but “cartoonishly evil,” with all their blatant crimes seeming to be based upon the script of some over-the-top propaganda-film but instead actually taking place in real life…
These grim developments have naturally sparked a continuing wave of student protests condemning Israel for committing these monstrous crimes and our own Biden Administration for enabling them with money and munitions. Prof. John Mearsheimer of the University of Chicago is one of our highest-ranking mainstream academics, a very sober-minded scholar of the Realist School, and in an interview last week he expressed little surprise at these matters. After all, he pointed out, Israel was obviously an Apartheid-state currently committing a genocide before the eyes of the entire world so political protests on college campuses were only to be expected.
Throughout these last few months, pro-Israel partisans have regularly denounced the anti-Zionism of their opponents as antisemitic and insisted that it be suppressed. Back in February I had noted the ironic implications of their position:
This is certainly an odd situation, warranting careful analysis and explanation. The word “antisemitism” merely means criticizing or disliking Jews, and in recent years, Israel’s partisans have demanded with some success that the term should be extended to encompass anti-Zionism as well, namely hostility to the Jewish state.
But let us suppose that we concede the latter point and agree with pro-Israel activists that “anti-Zionism” is indeed a form of “antisemitism.” Over the last few months, the Israeli government has brutally slaughtered tens of thousands of helpless civilians in Gaza, committing the greatest televised massacre in the history of the world, with its top leaders using explicitly genocidal language to describe their plans for the Palestinians. Indeed, the South African government submitted a 91 page legal brief to the International Court of Justice cataloging those Israeli statements, prompting a near-unanimous ruling by the jurists that millions of Palestinians faced the prospect of genocide at Israeli hands.
These days most Westerners claim to regard genocide in a decidedly negative light. So does this not syllogistically require them to embrace and endorse “antisemitism”? Surely a visitor from Mars would be very puzzled by this strange dilemma and the philosophical and psychological contortions it seems to require.
It is rather surprising that the extremely “politically correct” ruling elites of America and the rest of the Western world are loudly cheering on the racially-exclusivist State of Israel even as it kills enormous numbers of women and children and works very hard to starve to death some two million civilians in its unprecedented genocidal rampage. After all, the far milder and more circumspect regime of Apartheid South Africa was universally condemned, boycotted, and sanctioned for merely the tiniest sliver of such misdeeds.
An important turning point may have come on April 17th when Columbia University President Minouche Shafik, herself of Egyptian origins, was raked over the coals by a Congressional Committee for permitting anti-Israel protests on her campus. Her interrogators claimed that these were “antisemitic” acts and caused some of Columbia’s Jewish students to “feel unsafe,” a dire situation that seemingly trumped both freedom of speech and academic freedom.
Shafik may or may not have agreed with those arguments, but she surely remembered that just a few months earlier her counterparts at Harvard and Penn had both been summarily purged for giving the wrong answers, and she hardly wished to share their fate. So she firmly promised to root out all such public antisemitism at her university and soon afterward 100 helmeted NYC riot police were invited onto the campus to crush the demonstrations and arrest the protesters, mostly charging the latter with “trespassing,” a rather strange accusation given that they were enrolled students on the grounds of their own campus.
This sort of harsh and immediate police crackdown seems almost unprecedented in the modern history of college political protests. Back in the 1960s, there were a few scattered cases of police being called in to arrest militant protesters who had seized and occupied administrative offices at Harvard, paraded around with firearms at Cornell, or burned down a campus building at Stanford. But I have never heard of peaceful political protesters being arrested on the grounds of their own college merely for the content of their political speech.
Although the crackdown at Columbia demanded by those members of Congress was obviously intended to quell American campus protests, it predictably had the opposite effect. Scenes of burly, helmeted riot police arresting peaceful college students on their own campus went viral on social media, inspiring a wave of similar protests at numerous other colleges across the nation, with police arrests quickly following in most locations. By latest count, some 2,300 students have now been arrested at dozens of universities.
The actions by the Georgia State Police at Emory University seemed particularly outrageous, and a Tweet containing a clip of one of those incidents has already been viewed some 1.5 million times. A 57-year-old tenured professor of Economics named Carolyn Frohlin was concerned at seeing one of her own students being wrestled to the pavement and walked towards him only to find herself brutally thrown to the ground, hogtied, and arrested by a couple of hulking officers led by a sergeant. CNN anchor Jim Acosta was utterly shocked when he reported this story…
Even worse scenes took place at UCLA as an encampment of peaceful protesters was violently attacked and beaten by a mob of pro-Israel thugs having no university connection but armed with bars, clubs, and fireworks, resulting in some serious injuries. A professor of History described her outrage as the nearby police stood aside and did nothing while UCLA students were attacked by outsiders, with 200 of the victims then arrested. According to local journalists, the violent mob had been organized and paid by pro-Israel billionaire Bill Ackman.
I have never previously heard of organized mobs of outside thugs being allowed to violently assault peaceful American student protesters on their own campus, something that seems far more reminiscent of turbulent Latin American dictatorships. The closest example that comes to mind might be the notorious 1970 “Hard Hat Riot” in New York City in which hundreds of pro-Nixon construction workers battled similar numbers of anti-war protesters on the streets of lower Manhattan, an incident so infamous that it has an extensive Wikipedia page of its own.
However, a somewhat different but much closer and more recent analogy may exist. After Donald Trump launched his unexpectedly successful presidential campaign, right-wing, pro-Trump speakers invited to college campuses were regularly harassed and assaulted along with their audiences by mobs of violent antifa, with many of the latter apparently recruited and paid for the purpose.
This sort of very physical “deplatforming” was intended to ensure that their threatening ideas never reached impressionable college students and led conservatives to begin organizing their own groups such as the Proud Boys to provide physical protection. Violent clashes occurred at Berkeley and some other colleges, while similar antifa riots in DC disrupted Trump’s inauguration. From what I remember, most of the organizers and financial backers of these violent antifa groups seemed to be Jewish, so perhaps it’s not surprising that other Jewish leaders have now begun employing very similar tactics to suppress different political movements that they regard as distasteful.
Some years ago a former senior AIPAC official once boasted to a friendly journalist that if he wrote anything on a simple napkin, within 24 hours he could get signatures of 70 Senators to endorse it, and the political power of the ADL is equally formidable. Therefore it was hardly surprising that last week an overwhelming bipartisan 320-91 majority in the House passed a bill broadening the meaning of anti-Zionism and antisemitism in the anti-discrimination policies of the Department of Education by codifying the definitions used in our Civil Rights laws to classify those ideas as discriminatory.
Although I haven’t tried to read the text, the obvious intent is to force colleges to expunge such noxious activities as anti-Israel protests from their campus community or face loss of federal funds. This represents a striking attack against academic freedom as well as America’s traditional freedom of speech and thought, and may also pressure other private organizations to adopt similar policies. In a particularly ironic twist, the definition of antisemitism used in the bill clearly covers portions of the Christian Bible, so the ignorant and compromised Republican legislators have now wholeheartedly endorsed banning the Bible in a country in which 95% of the population has Christian roots.
Israel/Gaza: The Masks Come Off in American Society

Until now, revocation of a permanent residency Green Card could only occur if its holder had committed a serious felony such as murder or rape, but the empowered pro-Israel partisans of the Trump Administration have now stretched that law to include criticism of Israel or Jews, arguing that such criticism undermined the vital American national goal of combatting antisemitism across the world. When combined with last year’s bipartisan Congressional enactment of the Antisemitism Awareness Act, this might set a legal precedent for actually criminalizing such political views, especially if these can be portrayed as “providing material support” to such officially-designated terrorist organizations as Hamas.
Perhaps despite the determined efforts of the ADL and similar organizations, this legal transformation will not occur. But then again I had never expected to see masked federal agents abducting university students for writing campus newspaper op-eds criticizing Israel.
Similarly, consider the mass arrests and long prison sentences of the January 6th protesters in DC. Nearly all of the defendants had been guilty of nothing more than trespassing and perhaps petty vandalism, but their severe punishment demonstrated that strong ideological and media pressure can successfully force American courts to stretch the law in extreme ways in order to severely punish individuals engaging in political activity that has been sufficiently demonized.
From a broader perspective, we have already seen developments that suggest American society and its political life have reached a very strange point.
Max Blumenthal and Aaron Mate are earnest young Jewish progressives who run the Grayzone, a webzine and YouTube channel of their own. In several articles last year, I noted their lengthy discussion of how the pro-Israel donor class had recently crushed any political dissent within the Democratic Party, contrary to the overwhelming views of its voter base.
In that same livestream, Blumenthal and Maté also focused on the methods used to keep American elected officials in line on this issue, noting that a few days ago Zionist billionaires spent an almost unprecedented $8 million to defeat Rep. Cori Bush in her own Democratic primary, angry that the black progressive member of “the squad” had called for a ceasefire in Gaza. Just a few weeks earlier, roughly twice as much money had been spent by similar individuals for very similar reasons to successfully eliminate her close political ally Rep. Jamaal Bowman.
Those two primary races were by far the most expensive in American history, and in their aftermath most members of Congress must surely realize that they only remain in office at the sufferance of AIPAC and its ideological allies. Although leading progressive Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez denounced the role of big money in those primary races, she was obviously too fearful of pro-Israel donors to even mention whose big money had been involved. The Grayzone editors were far more candid and accurately characterized the dollars as being deployed by “the foreign agents of an Apartheid state.”
These incidents seem to suggest a rather peculiar situation. It appears that American elected officials will regularly be removed from office if they are deemed insufficiently loyal to a certain foreign country, hardly the sort of governmental framework usually discussed in our political science textbooks.
Despite their longstanding coverage of the Middle East conflict, I do not think that either of the Grayzone editors had ever contemplated the horrors currently being inflicted upon the suffering Palestinians, nor the totally slavish support for Israel expressed by the entire Biden Administration. These shocking developments prompted ideological reassessments and in May I’d described some ironic statements they had made in an earlier podcast:
This massive suppression of all political opposition to Zionism through a mixture of legal, quasi-legal, and illegal means has hardly escaped the notice of various outraged critics. Max Blumenthal and Aaron Mate are young Jewish progressives very sharply critical of Israel and its current attack on Gaza, and in their most recent livestream video a day or two before that Congressional vote, they agreed that Zionists were the greatest threat to American freedom and that our country was “under political occupation” by the Israel Lobby.
They may or may not have been aware that their angry denunciation closely paralleled one of the most notorious Far Right phrases of the last half-century, which condemned America’s existing political system as nothing more than ZOG, a “Zionist Occupation Government.” Over time, obvious factual reality gradually becomes apparent regardless of ideological predispositions.
By August, I noticed that they had begun explicitly using that incendiary term in their most recent podcast:
That particular article of mine proved quite popular so it’s possible that my remarks may have directly or indirectly found their way to those individuals. Whether or not that was the case, in their current podcast they mentioned that although they’d always dismissed “ZOG” as some ridiculously antisemitic expression, recent events had demonstrated its reality, and Americans were obviously now living in “one nation under ZOG.” I think this marked an important step forward in their understanding of our world.
Soon afterward, their Grayzone channel was temporarily banned from YouTube, and when it returned a week later, the two hosts nervously joked about the acronym they must carefully avoid uttering, using several rhyming words to enlighten their audience. I suspect that many other thoughtful Americans have also recently begun entertaining notions that they would have always previously dismissed as ridiculous.
But over the last six months, these unfortunate trends have merely accelerated. So a couple of weeks ago the initial Columbia University arrest prompted them to release a new Grayzone podcast that they entitled “Shalom, the Occupation’s Home.”
Blumenthal emphasized that Americans were “living under some kind of Zionist occupation” and the two hosts then joked about how useful it would be if someone could come up with a catchy, three-letter acronym to describe our national predicament. They did so again later in the same show as they described the overwhelming Zionist control over the American government.
Such cautious circumlocutions are quite understandable given the very real risk of YouTube deplatforming, but individuals who have long since suffered that fate can afford to speak much more boldly.
As I have emphasized, obvious factual reality produces a certain amount of descriptive convergence even across the most disparate ideological camps. Late last year a fierce right-winger named Stew Peters released a video documentary entitled “Occupied” on many of these same issues and other related ones, running close to two hours. Although it unfortunately contained quite a lot of misinformation, I’d say that at least 70-75% of the material was correct, and it included many video clips that I hadn’t previously seen.
Although it was originally freely released across the Internet, those copies no longer seem available for viewing, but apparently it can still be watched on his website by anyone who registers with an email address.
Last week I published a lengthy article summarizing the strong, even overwhelming evidence that Israel and its American collaborators had been responsible for the assassinations of the Kennedy brothers. One of the leading motives for those killings had been the determination of the Kennedys to break the growing political power of the nascent Israel Lobby.

Now six decades later, that same political force has metastasized to such an extent that it largely controls both of America’s major political parties and nearly all the members of Congress, and may now be on the verge of successfully eliminating our traditional constitutional rights, including freedom of political speech. When university students are snatched off city streets by masked federal agents merely for writing an op-ed in their campus newspapers, matters have clearly reached a very perilous state in American society.

Iran’s academic officials have declared the Islamic Republic’s unwavering support for students and academics who have been targeted by the Trump administration’s crackdown on pro-Palestinian protesters on university campuses.
Officials from Iran’s academic institutions said in a joint statement on Sunday that the country’s universities “take pride in extending their support” to students protesting “the crimes of the Zionist regime” in the US.
“The acts of global arrogance in suppressing justice-seeking students and expelling them from American universities after their peaceful protests against the atrocities committed by the Zionist regime against the oppressed people of Palestine have further unveiled the true nature of those who claim to advocate for human rights,” the statement read.
Iran’s universities, it said, are ready to accept students who are being expelled by US immigration officials for showing sympathy for the Palestinian cause.
Iran’s Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution (SCCR), in collaboration with the Academy of Sciences and the Academy of Medical Sciences, will facilitate the admission of expelled students into Iranian universities.
President Donald Trump has begun following through on a threat to deport all non-citizen university activists with ties to the pro-Palestine protests, which rocked the US last spring, with students staging daily protests in college campuses across the country for weeks.
The crackdown intensified since US immigration agents arrested Mahmoud Kahlil, a graduate of Columbia University, on March 8. Kahlil, who is being held in an immigration detention center in Louisiana, faces deportation for his role in pro-Palestinian campus protests.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who personally signed off on his arrest, said on Thursday that Washington has revoked at least 300 foreign students’ visas.
“Maybe more than 300 at this point,” he said. “We do it every day, every time I find one of these lunatics.”
Trump officials have accused these students of being “adversarial to the foreign policy and national security interests” of the US.
Anti-genocide activists exposed by pro-Israel groups using facial recognition tech

Foreign activists who took part in widespread campus protests against US support for the Israeli genocide of Palestinians in Gaza are being exposed by pro-Israel groups using facial recognition technology and tip lines, according to an investigation by AP.
Zionist organization Betar US has reportedly submitted a list of identified protesters to US federal officials. The list was compiled with the help of Eliyahu Hawila, a New York-based software engineer who built a facial recognition tool called NesherAI designed to identify masked protesters.
“It’s a very concerning practice,” said Abed Ayoub, National Executive Director of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee. “Essentially, the administration is outsourcing surveillance.”
Since the return of US President Donald Trump to power, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) have detained or deported at least nine foreign university students for their activism in support of Palestine and against the US-Israeli genocide.
“Now they’re using tools of the state to actually go after people,” a Columbia graduate student from South Asia who has been active in protests told AP. “We suddenly feel like we’re being forced to think about our survival.”
“It might be more than 300 at this point. We do it every day. Every time I find one of these lunatics, I take away their visa,” State Secretary Marco Rubio said earlier this week when asked about the ongoing crackdown on pro-Palestinian students and academics.
“Please tell everyone you know who is at a university to file complaints about foreign students and faculty who support Hamas,” Elizabeth Rand, president of a group called Mothers Against Campus Antisemitism, said in a 21 January post to more than 60,000 followers on Facebook. It included a link to an ICE tip line.
In early February, messages from a chat group frequented by Israelis living in New York were published online. “Do you know students at Columbia or any other university who are here on a study visa and participated in demonstrations against Israel?” one message said in Hebrew. “If so, now is our time!” the message adds, accompanied by a link to the ICE hotline.
Earlier this week, Axios reported that the White House is threatening to block certain colleges from having any foreign students if it decides too many are involved in protests against Israel’s genocide in Gaza.
Thousands march in Paris against military aid to Ukraine

Thousands of demonstrators marched through the streets of Paris on Saturday, protesting French President Emmanuel Macron’s and NATO’s militaristic approach to the Ukraine conflict.
On Wednesday, Macron announced a new €2 billion ($2.16 billion) military aid package for Ukraine, after weeks of attempting to drum up support for his initiative to send Western troops as peacekeepers to the country. The new arms will include surface-to-air missiles, armored vehicles and drones, the French leader said.
Saturday’s anti-war rally was organized by former right-wing National Rally politician Florian Philippot and his party, The Patriots.
Thousands of protesters could be seen marching through the French capital, chanting slogans such as “Macron, we don’t want your war!” and “Let’s quickly leave NATO!” in video captured by RT.
Many could also be seen waving placards with the motto “Macron, we will not die for Ukraine.”
“A mad crowd for #Peace… Thousands and thousands of French people are shouting ‘Macron, resign!’ in the streets of Paris right now!” Philippot wrote on X on Saturday.
The Patriots protested in the French capital earlier this month after Macron proposed deploying France’s nuclear weapons in other European allied states, citing uncertainty over Washington’s commitment to the continent.
On Thursday, following an international summit in Paris, Macron announced a French-British plan to push for the deployment of troops to Ukraine as a “reassurance force” in the event of a ceasefire between Kiev and Moscow. Macron first touched on the idea of sending Western troops into Ukraine last February.
Russia has categorically ruled out agreeing to NATO troops being deployed to the conflict zone. Troops from the US-led military bloc, even under the guise of peacekeepers, would amount to direct NATO participation in the conflict, according to Moscow.
Oxford city council passes boycott divestment, sanctions motion

The Oxford City Council has passed a motion supporting the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel, in accordance with International Court of Justice (ICJ) rulings.
On Monday, the members of Oxford City Council unanimously voted for an “ethical investment and procurement” process against Israel.
The motion calls on the Oxford City Council to avoid cooperation and trade with entities complicit in human rights violations and international law.
In January 2024, the ICJ delivered an interim ruling that said it was plausible that Israel was committing genocide in Gaza. The court called on Israel to refrain from impeding the delivery of aid into Gaza
Amongst other orders, ICJ also ordered Israel to avoid acts of genocide in the besieged enclave and punish incitement to genocide.
The Israeli regime not only has continued to ignore the ICJ’s rulings but also has committed numerous acts of genocide against the people of Palestine, including the restriction of the delivery of international aid into the besieged enclave.
Given Israel’s disregard for the Court’s orders, Oxford councilor Hosnieh Djafari-Marbini said councilors had “unanimously passed a boycott and divestment motion citing the ICJ rulings on Palestine.”
One of the motion’s proponents, councilor Barbara Coyne, said in a press release, “I hope this motion will be thoroughly implemented, and that its passage may pave the way for other councils to take decisive action.”
In addition, the Council has called on the Oxfordshire Investment Fund to divest more than 157 million pounds from companies complicit in the Israeli regime’s apartheid, genocide, occupation, and settler colonialism.
The people of Palestine have long called for boycott, divestment, and sanctions, including an arms and energy embargo, against the occupying regime.
The BDS movement demands that Israel, under international law, withdraw from the occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, and respect the rights of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes and properties.
The Case Against Mahmoud Khalil: How The Israel Lobby Fueled a Campus Crackdown

The detention of Mahmoud Khalil, a prominent Palestinian activist involved in organizing at Columbia University, is the result of more than a year of pro-Israeli think-tank propaganda and lobbying efforts to tie the students to Hamas and erode free speech protections in the United States.
Since the first anti-war encampment at Columbia University last April, a network of pro-Israel organizations—including lobby groups, think tanks, and private security firms—has worked to dismantle the student protest movement. Their influence has been evident in the rapid and coordinated response to suppress demonstrations.
Despite Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s public claim that Khalil is a “Hamas supporter,” no evidence has been provided to substantiate the allegation. In fact, a White House official admitted in an interview with The Free Press that “the allegation here is not that [Khalil] was breaking the law.”
The Trump administration has offered no evidence of illegal or violent activity to justify its efforts to deport Khalil, a Green Card holder. Instead, his removal appears rooted in political disagreement. Washington has made clear that any speech critical of Israel can be labeled as “pro-Hamas” and “antisemitic” without the need to substantiate such claims.
This absence of evidence has been a defining characteristic of the broader campaign—driven by the Israel Lobby—to curtail First Amendment rights on college campuses. While Jewish student groups were among those leading last year’s anti-war encampments, the Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) chapters became a particular focus of political scrutiny.
A central figure in this push has been the Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD), a neoconservative think tank frequently cited as a source for alleged links between Hamas and SJP. The FDD’s argument hinges on the claim that the American Muslims for Palestine (AMP), a major supporter of SJP chapters, has ties to individuals formerly associated with charities shuttered for allegedly financing terrorism. One such case, the Holy Land Foundation, resulted in convictions that have since been widely criticized as politically motivated.
The FDD first presented its claims publicly in 2016, but they failed to gain traction, mainly due to a lack of substantive proof. Among its chief concerns was that “AMP does not have to file an IRS 990 form that would make its finances more transparent.” That critique is striking, given that the Quincy Institute recently revealed the FDD itself operates with “dark money” funding and holds a zero transparency rating.
In May 2024, the Washington-based Atlantic Council suggested in an article that Iran was involved in the student protest movement. Corporate media quickly picked up on the claim and attempted to build a case around it. Yet, despite the steady stream of coverage, none of the reports were able to muster any real evidence to back up their accusation.
Alex Karp, the CEO of Palantir Technologies—a company with deep ties to the CIA—has taken up a public crusade to reshape discourse on college campuses. His rationale for urgency is blunt: “If we lose the intellectual debate, you will not be able to deploy any army in the West, ever.”
Safra Catz, the Israeli-American CEO of Oracle and one of the highest-earning women in global business has also weighed in on the protests. When asked about the wave of student demonstrations, she framed the issue in starkly militaristic terms:
The reason, in my personal opinion, why they’re out there is because they think Israel is weak. They think the Jews are weak, so they stand up strong. If Israel regains its deterrence capability and America regains their deterrence capability and is strong, they will disperse like they always do. We’ve seen this pattern here in Israel—when the terrorists feel strong, they’re out in the streets. And when Israel comes in hard, they’re hiding under the floor.”
Not only did Catz compare student actions in the United States, framed as part of a “resurgence of antisemitism,” to “terrorists,” but the Israeli-American businesswoman has also contributed to both Donald Trump and Marco Rubio’s political bids in the past. As CEO of Oracle, which owns OpenAI, Catz doubled her company’s investment in Israel following October 7, 2023.
The Anti-Defamation League (ADL), which has repeatedly accused the U.S. student movement of antisemitism and supporting Hamas, has openly called for the deportation of Mahmoud Khalil.
Pro-Israel groups insist that Khalil has ties to Hamas, yet even the Canary Mission—a site notorious for doxxing pro-Palestine university students—could not produce evidence beyond his participation in a protest chant. In its extensive profile on Khalil, the only supposed proof of “support for Hamas” was his involvement in a demonstration where the crowd chanted, “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.” The site argues that the phrase is pro-Hamas solely because Hamas leader Khaled Mashal has used it in the past.
One of the loudest voices behind the crackdown on campus protests is Trump’s UN ambassador, Elise Stefanik, who has openly boasted about her role in forcing the resignations of five university presidents. Even Columbia University’s decision to give in to pressure from pro-Israel lobbying groups did not shield it from White House retaliation. The administration still moved to strip $400 million in federal funding from the university, sending a clear warning to other institutions.
This multi-pronged assault on free speech—built on baseless accusations of Hamas ties and antisemitism—is now being used to justify the deportation of a permanent U.S. resident whose wife and future child are American citizens. The campaign is part of a broader effort to erode First Amendment protections under the guise of national security.

US arrests Georgetown University student for criticizing Israel
Indian citizen Badar Khan Suri has been arrested in the US over criticism of Israel

Indian citizen and Georgetown University student Badar Khan Suri has been arrested by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents due to his criticism of Israel’s actions in Gaza.
Sari, who is a post-doctorate fellow in peace and conflict studies at Georgetown University in Washington, is currently being held at an ICE detention facility in Virginia without contact with lawyers and family.
ICE has detained Sari even though he is a US permanent resident.
After his arrest, the dean of Georgetown University made a statement that Sari had not engaged in any illegal activities or posed a threat to campus security.
In a statement, the University Board of Georgetown Law SJP has called his arrest to be for expressing “constitutionally protected speech,” warning that if such arrests continue “higher education will crumble.”
Sari is believed to have been specifically targeted because of the anti-genocide activism of his wife Mapheze Saleh.
Saleh, a US citizen, is a prominent pro-Palestine activist who has come under attack by pro-Israel political organizations.
Jenin Younes, a lawyer and civil liberties expert, believes that Sari’s arrest is a case of citizens being held guilty by association.
“If they can’t target a Palestinian activist for deportation because they’re a citizen, they’ll target their spouse instead,” Younes said in an interview.
Imprisoning and punishing family members of political dissidents is a common repression tactic used by dictatorial regimes.
Demonstrations in American, European cities condemning Israeli crimes in Gaza

Thousands of pro-Palestinian activists marched through the streets of American and European cities to condemn the resumption of the Israeli occupation’s war of extermination against the Gaza Strip that resulted in the martyrdom and injury of hundreds, most of whom children and women.
The marches began in cities like Seattle in Washington State, San Francisco in California, and Milwaukee in Wisconsin, protesting the U.S. administration’s approval of violating the ceasefire agreement, as shown in footage shared by pro-Palestinian pages on social media.

The protesters called for an end to the war on Gaza, an immediate end to the blockade of the Strip, halting Israeli genocide in Gaza, holding Netanyahu and occupation leaders accountable, and boycotting Israel.
In Italy, clashes erupted between police and pro-Palestinian demonstrators in Milan, where hundreds called for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza amidst stalled ceasefire talks between Israel and Hamas.
Footage shows columns of red smoke filling the air, while the sounds of explosions echoed through the Italian city’s streets. Protesters were seen marching, raising Palestinian flags and signs that read “Hands off the West Bank” and “Glory to the martyrs, freedom for the prisoners,” before being attacked by police forces.
In the Dutch capital Amsterdam, another demonstration was held in support of Gaza and against the genocide being committed by Israel against Palestinians.
Cities like Ankara, Istanbul, Diyarbakır, and other Turkish cities also witnessed demonstrations condemning the Israeli massacres against residents of the Gaza Strip.
Protesters accused Israel of committing genocidal crimes through its ongoing aggression against the Gaza Strip and called on the international community to hold it accountable for these crimes.
Turkish organizations, including the Anadolu Youth Association, the Humanitarian Relief Organization, and the Turkish Institutions Coalition for Jerusalem, called for organizing supportive demonstrations for the Gaza Strip in various Turkish cities and for the continuation of the boycott against Israel and products from supporting companies.

Yesterday, the American enemy announced a new wave of aggression against our country, launching a series of airstrikes and naval bombardments targeting homes and residential neighborhoods in the capital, Sana’a, and several other Yemeni governorates. These attacks resulted in dozens of martyrs and wounded, including women and children.
This brutal and unjust assault is yet another example of US tyranny and arrogance toward our (Islamic) Nation. Its objective is clear: to support the Israeli enemy after our country took a firm stand in support of the Palestinian people against Israel’s starvation campaign in Gaza. Israel has not only blocked the entry of humanitarian aid but has also completely prevented the flow of goods into the besieged strip.
The starvation of two million Palestinians is an immense crime—an unequivocal crime against humanity. No one with a human conscience, no one with sincere Islamic faith, can remain silent in the face of such an atrocity. Yet, it is deeply unfortunate that most Muslim and Arab regimes have responded with indifference. There has been no serious effort to prevent Israel’s deliberate starvation of Gaza’s people. In fact, the situation has escalated to the point where Israel is now actively depriving them of water as well.
The suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza is an immense tragedy, yet many choose to ignore it. Israeli conditioning has set the bar for global outrage so high that only large-scale massacres by bombs and weapons seem to provoke attention. As a result, when suffering takes the form of starvation and deprivation rather than immediate mass killing, many fail to even follow the events unfolding there.
However, the deliberate starvation of Gaza’s people—the complete blockade of aid and goods—is no less than a method of extermination. For fifteen days now, the Israeli enemy has kept Gaza’s crossings closed, intensifying the suffering of its people. Anyone who observes the magnitude of this humanitarian crisis can recognize it as a catastrophe.
In contrast, the responsibility to act falls first and foremost upon our own (Islamic) Nation—upon all Muslims, upon every people and country within our Ummah. Yet, where is the serious action? Where is the political effort beyond empty statements? Where is the economic pressure? Most regimes have taken no real position in any meaningful way. Worse still, they influence their people, suppressing their ability to act, leaving them paralyzed as mere spectators.
This failure to uphold our great religious, moral, and humanitarian obligations poses a grave danger to our entire Nation. The root cause? Fear of America. That is the reality. Fear of America, which stands as a direct accomplice to all Israel’s crimes—protecting it, enabling it, and ensuring it carries out its atrocities without consequence.
This is what has driven much of our Nation—both its governments and its people—into failure and neglect of its duties, whether dictated by faith, morality, or basic humanity. In the holy month of Ramadan, as Muslims increase their recitation of the Quran, they must also reflect on their human, moral, religious, and faith-based responsibilities. At the same time, they must recognize the grave danger of a world where fear of America outweighs fear of divine punishment—where whole countries and peoples abandon their sacred duties to the Ummah out of submission to foreign powers.
What is happening to the Palestinian people—extermination, starvation, killing, displacement, and oppression—without any meaningful reaction from the Muslim world, sets a dangerous precedent. It opens the door for similar horrors elsewhere. Any other Arab or Muslim country could be next. Wherever the Americans and Israelis choose to repeat their crimes—whether in Palestine’s neighboring countries or beyond—the result will be the same. Others will remain passive, shackled by fear, humiliation, and inaction. It is a great danger for the whole Ummah, as it emboldens the American enemy and the Israeli oppressor. Neither of them has a conscience. Neither considers the silence, passivity and inaction of other nations as a deterrent—only as an encouragement to commit further crimes. They have great (hegemonic and expansionist) ambitions and agressive projects against our (Islamic) Nation, as well as ideological foundations (supremacism) as well as foundations rooted in their colonialist inclination and tyrannical behavior.
That’s why Yemen’s stance has been clear. Our decision to support the Palestinian people, including our move to block Israeli maritime navigation, that clearly targets the Israeli enemy and no one else, is aimed solely at pressuring Israel to open the crossings, allow the entry of humanitarian aid, and put an end to the starvation of Gaza.
What is happening in Gaza is outright starvation, compounded by imposed thirst, amid the immense Nakba (catastrophe) the Palestinian people are enduring. After 15 months of relentless annihilation and mass destruction, every aspect of life in Gaza has been systematically erased. This is not a situation where a decision to block aid and goods has a minimal impact—it is devastating. The conditions were already dire; there are no food reserves, no agricultural activity, and no remaining essentials for survival. The entire Gaza Strip has been utterly destroyed.
The reality is evident to anyone paying attention—conditions there are beyond desperate. From the very first moment the Israeli enemy took this step, it inflicted immense harm and suffering on the Palestinian people. And now, after 15 more days, that suffering has only worsened. Yet, as we have said before, there has been no serious response from Arab regimes, nor even from the broader Islamic world—no true action in the full sense of the word.
As for us, a people, our faith compels us. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: “Faith is Yemeni, and wisdom is Yemeni.” Guided by this faith and our human conscience, we cannot simply stand by. Our country has stood with the Palestinian people for 15 months, supporting them in the battle of Al-Aqsa Flood, resisting the genocide committed by the Israeli enemy in partnership with the United States.
Throughout this period, our people have also withstood American aggression—intended to bolster the Israeli enemy—and will remain unwavering in their active support for Palestine, especially as the threat of extermination persists. There are red lines in the Palestinian situation. When the Israeli enemy, with full American backing and protection, perpetrates genocide, that is a red line. We cannot stand idly by. There are legal and humanitarian obligations in this regard—obligations that extend beyond Muslims, enshrined in international law and the UN Charter. Yet all have abandoned them: the international community, other nations—they have forsaken these humanitarian duties. And in our Islamic world, they abandon their humanitarian, religious, and moral responsibilities, even when their own national security and interests are at stake. They forsake everything. It is a total abdication. This emboldens the Israeli enemy, just as it emboldens the American enemy—a full partner in these crimes. This inaction offers no solution to the Ummah, nor does it avert the looming danger, nor does it provide any real solution to the ongoing crisis..
Our nation’s decision to support the Palestinian people—by blocking Israeli navigation and enforcing restrictions against the enemy—comes from this humanitarian, moral, religious, and faith-driven commitment. It is a means to press for the entry of aid and to end the starvation of two million Palestinians in Gaza. This is not a minor issue that can be ignored; it is a grave humanitarian crime against millions of people.
Thus, when the American enemy escalates its aggression through airstrikes, it will not achieve its goal of pressuring us into retreating from our position. The only real solution is ensuring the entry of humanitarian aid, putting an end to the starvation and dehydration of the Palestinian people in Gaza. The situation is beyond catastrophic.
What the Israeli enemy is doing on top of that—targeting Al-Aqsa Mosque, seeking to seize or demolish it, and attempting to forcibly displace the Palestinian people—must be considered as firm red lines by our entire (Islamic) Nation. If the enemy sees that, regardless of his actions, the Ummah takes no decisive steps, makes no real decisions, and adopts no serious stance, he will be emboldened to escalate further. His Zionist agenda is well known, and every major act of aggression and escalation he commits without consequences only paves the way for even greater crimes.
Indeed, his goal is full control over the Palestinian people—erasing their existence and liquidating their cause. This is the shared objective of both the Israeli and American enemies, who fully embrace Zionist ideology, champion its project, and act accordingly.
That is why it is impossible for us to forsake our duties towards these red lines. Even if all remain silent, we will not remain silent. We will do everything we can, considering our resources and capabilities, along with our possibilities. This is a sacred responsibility before God Almighty, and neglecting it invites divine punishment, both in this world and the next. It is far easier for us to stand in opposition to the tyrants of our time, to face their threats, and to sacrifice for the sake of God, than to face the wrath of God Himself. We will not bring upon ourselves His displeasure, anger, and Hellfire—neither in this world nor in the Hereafter.
We are certain that when we take the right stance—one fully aligned with our humanitarian, moral, and religious obligations, as well as the national security interests of our Ummah in —God will be our ultimate supporter. “He is the best of helpers.” We place our trust in God. We believe in His true promise. We rely on God, the Almighty, and He is the best of protectors.
The United States, in their statements and declarations, claim that one of the reasons for their latest wave of brutal, unjust, and criminal aggression against our country is our people’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause over the past 15 months. This support has been in direct opposition to the genocidal aggression carried out by the Israeli enemy with American partnership and protection. The US frames its assault as punishment for our people’s honorable, courageous, and steadfast stance alongside the Palestinian people in resisting genocide.
We say this: That honorable stance—taken for the sake of Almighty God and in fulfillment of these faith-based, humanitarian, moral, and religious obligations—is one our people will never regret. It is a noble position, a great position, a position that brings us closer to God. It has strengthened our people on all fronts, including militarily.
It is a stance of dignity, taken by our dear people with faith and insight. Thus, no matter the extent of American and Israeli tyranny, our people will not waver from their Quranic, faith-driven, moral, and humanitarian course. We will stand firm against this oppression. This American aggression will fail—by God’s will—just as it has failed before. It will not succeed in pressuring our people or our people and country to abandon their principles. This is a fundamental, unwavering commitment, rooted in faith, morality, and necessity in every sense of the word, as we will explain in more detail.
The US will not achieve its goal of weakening our country’s military capabilities—by God’s will—because we are engaged in a jihadist struggle and have been resisting American aggression for many years. This is merely another chapter in that battle. And as in previous confrontations, this new round of aggression will only contribute to further strengthening and developing our military capabilities, God willing.
We will meet escalation with escalation—that is our approach. Yesterday, our armed forces responded immediately to US attacks, launching (18) missiles and drones in retaliation for the American airstrikes and bombings on our land. This is our choice, our decision, our path. As long as the American enemy persists in its aggression, its warships, aircraft carriers, and naval vessels will be targeted by our missiles and drones.
Furthermore, maritime restrictions will extend to US vessels as long as the aggression continues. The US is the one turning the sea into a battlefield, thereby directly impacting maritime navigation and global trade. Our decision was only targeting Israeli ships, and will now extend to US ships, but they are the ones who turn the sea into a battlefield and threaten maritime navigation. It is essential that all nations recognize who truly threatens international waters and the movement of ships.
The United States and Israel are the sources of evil and instability—globally and across the region. They are responsible for aggression, crimes, and chaos. They undermine peace in every sense of the word, plunging the world into crisis and conflict, East and West alike. They are arrogant, oppressive, and hostile.
We have additional escalation options at our disposal. We will respond to American escalation by escalation. We will retaliate to aggression with missile strikes targeting its aircraft carriers, battleships, and naval forces, and target its commercial ships. If the U.S. continues its hostilities, we will escalate further, by God’s will.
Our dear people will mobilize in full force—through general mobilization and across all sectors—just as they have done with strength and honor over the past 15 months in opposing the Israeli genocidal aggression against the Palestinian people, which has been carried out with U.S. partnership and protection. Now, in the face of this aggression against our country and the deliberate starvation and deprivation of the Palestinian people in Gaza, our country will rise once again in a widespread movement to confront tyranny.
We are not acting recklessly or seeking conflict. We are standing on a foundation of faith, morality, humanity, and jihad for the sake of Almighty God. We resist oppression, injustice, and the criminal arrogance of the U.S. and Israel. The US strives to submit the region as a whole to Israel, and it is clear to everybody.
Although the United States is a partner in the agreement to halt the aggression against the Gaza Strip, deliver aid, and end the starvation of the Palestinian people there, and has commitments in this regard, clear commitments. What are the obligations between states, between people for? Agreements are signed with clear obligations, but the United States disregards its commitments by failing to honor its obligations and breaking agreements. The Israeli side, too, violates every covenant and pact, denying any agreement. What the Israeli enemy is doing in Palestine, particularly in the West Bank, are continuous crimes. In the Jenin refugee camp, for example, they continue daily killings, forced displacement, and destruction, as well as in other camps like Tulkarm and others.
What the enemy also does, with regard to the repeated incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque, these are steps, as we said, that are not the end, not the final ceiling of what the Israeli enemy is doing. These are steps within the Israeli enemy’s plan. And every time the Ummah remains silent, it dares to do more. See what Israel does against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip—continuing daily killings, even if not at the pace it was during the daily genocidal extermination. But these are crimes, crimes that the (Islamic) nation must not remain silent about. And the American side is complicit in this; they kill journalists, they kill citizens, they kill those working in humanitarian fields, as if it were a normal issue. These are clear crimes, clear attacks, violations of everything—treaties, laws, ethics, values, and everything.
The enemy’s aggression against the Lebanese people continues. It has failed to honor its agreements, even those guaranteed by the US. It has completely disregarded guarantees concerning South Lebanon and didn’t retreat its forces, and persists in its violations—killing Lebanese civilians and committing countless transgressions. It wages attacks in Syria as well, invading, expanding, and launching relentless airstrikes—40 raids in a single night just days ago! Across many regions, it destroys, kills, occupies, and expands in a blatant display of aggression.
These crimes are flagrant violations with no justification whatsoever, yet much of the world remains silent. This silence only confirms what we have long stated: The US., alongside Israel, seeks to impose a doctrine of domination over our (Islamic) Nation and our peoples. This, by God, is their ultimate objective. They seek absolute freedom in their aggression and crimes—to kill, destroy, occupy, and do as they please without facing any response or serious opposition. This is an extremely dangerous matter, and accepting it carries profound consequences.
If silence were effective, if alternative approaches that refrain from taking a stance against American and Israeli tyranny and aggression had worked, it would have succeeded in Syria. The stance of the groups in Syria is clear: they confirm in all clarity that they do not consider Israel an enemy and will take no action against it. They refuse to respond in any way. It has even been mandated in media circles that the term “Israeli enemy” should not be used in reporting. Yet, this approach has failed. It did not work to declare, “We are not hostile, we will not respond, we are not targeting you.” Reality proves their commitment to this stance. They refuse to adopt any position against Israel, they don’t retaliate (nor condemn). They do not want conflict, confrontation, or any kind of problem. Their only request is that Israel stops its occupation of Syria—not as a firm position, but merely as a plea. They appeal, they beg, they turn to other nations and to the Americans, but to no avail.
Meanwhile, Israel expands its occupation, consolidates its control, and continues to destroy Syria’s resources. It tightens its grip on the territories it has seized in southern Syria—coveting three provinces: Quneitra, large areas of Daraa, and Sweida. It extends its reach to the outskirts of Damascus, nearing the capital itself. There is no justification for this in Syria—no ties to Iran, as the stance of these groups toward Iran is well known. They openly declare Iran as the enemy, not Israel. They have no issue with normalization (with Israel). Yet, none of these strategies have succeeded.
The Palestinian Authority in the West Bank has made its position clear. The agreements it signed with Israel are well-documented. Yet, Israel disregards them entirely, fails to honor any commitments, openly expresses its ambitions, and continues its daily crimes against the Palestinian people in the West Bank. This confirms an undeniable truth: a firm and deterrent stance against Israel is necessary to deter it.
We are not in a futile position; we are in an essential, just, and moral position—one rooted in humanitarian, ethical, and religious obligations. The American agenda in the region is clear: the total subjugation of this land to Israel and the imposition of an equation of permissiveness. Neither of these can ever be accepted. We will never accept the subjugation of this region to Israel, nor will we accept the normalization of permissiveness—neither in our country nor anywhere else. To accept this is to betray the principles of Islam. To accept it is humiliation. And God says: “To God belongs all honor, and to His Messenger, and to the believers.” (Quranic verse)
Submission does not protect the Ummah from killing, occupation, or oppression. It does not shield them from the dangers posed by America and Israel. On the contrary, it enables these enemies to implement their agendas and carry out their aggressive and destructive plans against our Umma.
Our position is one of honor and righteousness—a response to God’s command and a fulfillment of our faith-based, humanitarian, and moral duties. It is inner and authentic, and not dictated by any external force, nor is it an extension of any foreign agenda. Our alliance, cooperation, and coordination with the free people of our (Islamic) Nation within the Axis of Resistance are part of our collective duty as an Umma.
If some fulfill their obligations, it does not mean they are acting on behalf of others, nor does it imply subordination of one group to another. It is a shared responsibility, a duty upon all. Those who fail to uphold this responsibility—that is their choice. But as for us, our stance is in the most noble cause, an honorable position that brings dignity before God, and an essential duty.
We stand against American and Israeli tyranny. We stand against their crimes and their aggression. We are the continuation of the great march of Islam, led by the Messenger of God—may peace and blessings be upon him and his family.
As we commemorate the anniversary of the Great Battle of Badr on the seventeenth of the blessed month of Ramadan, we recall how the Messenger of God (peace be upon him and his family) advanced with divine permission and guidance. As the Almighty says:
“Permission is given to those who fight because they have been wronged, and indeed, God is capable of granting them victory.”
And as He says:
“Just as thy Lord brought thee out of thy home in truth, though a party of the Believers were unwilling, disputing with thee concerning the truth after it had become manifest, as if they were being driven to death while they looked on.”
With unwavering faith, the Messenger of God (peace be upon him) rose in the Battle of Badr against tyranny, confronting the forces of oppression. At that time, the Quraysh embodied tyranny—through their hostility, aggression, ignorance, injustice, and enmity toward Islam and the Muslims.
Today, the front of tyranny has changed, but its essence remains the same. In this era, it is America and Israel—an alliance of evil, disbelief, injustice, and criminality, waging war against Islam and Muslims. Is there any doubt about this? Who else inflicts upon the Ummah what they do? Their objectives are evident, their crimes undeniable, their ambitions exposed, and their Zionist project—aggressive, destructive, and criminal—laid bare for all to see. They are the front of disbelief in our time.
We stand in defiance of this oppression, of this aggression, of the systematic criminality targeting our lands and our Ummah. We move forward in continuation of Islam’s righteous struggle, following the example of the Messenger of God (peace be upon him and his family). He marched forward with only a few in number and limited provisions, yet he relied upon God. He advanced with faith, and those who followed him did so with conviction, responding to the call of belief, placing their trust in God, and in His true promise.
God granted them a decisive victory at Badr—a victory that marked a turning point, distinguishing it from the battles before and after. It ushered in a new era—an era of honor, triumph, and strength for Islam and the Muslims. It was a victory that established truth through both struggle and steadfastness in the field of battle. And we are the continuation of that movement, just as the Ansar (Helpers) stood with the Messenger of God (peace be upon him and his family) when he first consulted them: their words echoed faith, loyalty, courage, honor, and unwavering resolve. This spirit was demonstrated by their stance and jihad in the path of God.
Our dear people follow in the footsteps of those mujahideen ancestors who bore the banner of Islam against tyranny—whether the tyranny of Quraysh or the tyranny of the global oppressors of their time. We are patient in the face of war, and firm in the encounter with the enemy. I swear by God, O Messenger of God, we will not say to you as the Children of Israel said to Moses: ‘Go, you and your Lord, and fight while we remain behind.’ Rather, we say: ‘Go, you and your Lord, and we shall fight alongside you.’”
Our model is the Messenger of God (peace be upon him and his family), who never remained silent in the face of oppression, nor did he submit. So how can it be acceptable to God that the Ummah of Islam—the nation of two billion Muslims—the Arab world with its 300 million people—chooses silence, surrender, and inaction? Can entire countries and peoples resign themselves to this collective choice? This is nothing less than suicide for the Ummah, invoking the wrath of God and empowering its enemies.
Surrender is not an option for a great Ummah. It is not permissible in the religion of God. The Messenger of Allah, whom God described:
“Indeed, in the Messenger of God, you have an excellent example for those who hope in God and the Last Day and remember God often,”
rose with just 300 mujahideen—perhaps a few more or less, depending on different narrations. Yet with this small force, he carried the banner of Islam and advanced in the path of God.
The dangers of submission are immense. The threats facing our Ummah today demand serious action—reliance on God, trust in Him, and unwavering faith in His promise.
We, the Yemeni people, refuse to bow to the enemy or allow them to achieve their aggressive objectives. We march forward, relying on God. We have the greatest source of strength—God Almighty. We trust in Him and place our reliance upon Him. Our choices and decisions are rooted in our faith, our dignity—both as Muslims and as human beings. We stand firm, confronting oppression and aggression with broad and decisive action.
Therefore, I call upon our dear people to take to the streets tomorrow by the millions, on the anniversary of the Great Battle of Badr, in the capital, Sana’a, and across the provinces, in a massive show of solidarity—to reaffirm their steadfastness, their just stance, their faith-driven commitment, and their jihadist resolve in support of the Palestinian people and in confronting American aggression.
The specific time and locations will be determined by the organizing committee and its branches, God willing. However, what truly matters is that the popular turnout is vast—an expression of unwavering determination and deep-rooted belonging on this significant occasion. Because our stance is a continuation of that historic position. Our role model is the Messenger of God. Just as our fathers and grandfathers stood with loyalty, faith, perseverance, dignity, and sincerity alongside him in the Great Battle of Badr and in other struggles against the tyranny of the first Jahiliyya (Age of Ignorance), we, too, move forward as an extension of that legacy—carrying the banner of the Messenger of God, of Islam, upholding the march of Islam, embodying the position of Islam, and engaging in jihad for the sake of God in our time, in this stage of history.
We will never accept the violation of this Ummah, nor will we allow our country or others to be subjugated by the Israelis. We will not remain silent in the face of the arrogance, tyranny, aggression, and crimes of the Israeli and American enemies.
I urge you, dear people—you who are known for your loyalty, who have marched in honor for over 15 months in a manner unmatched anywhere in the world—to make tomorrow’s gathering vast and powerful, a testament to your faith, your unwavering loyalty, your dignity, your resilience, and your steadfastness, all of which stem from your deep belief and your response to God Almighty. You are the true extension of this Ummah, standing firm amidst a sea of submission, weakness, and surrender.
You are the heirs of the authentic Islamic path, the bearers of Islam’s banner, and the upholders of the just stance that God Almighty commands—a stance that brings goodness, honor and adheres to divine law.
Rest assured, dear people, that no matter how circumstances evolve, our position remains strong and unshaken, thanks to our reliance on God. With our trust in Him and our accumulated experience in confronting this enemy—its aggression, its military tactics—we stand firm, fully dependent on God Almighty, and absolutely confident in His promise.
He is the One who says: “If God grants you victory, none can overcome you.” He is the One who says: “If you support God, He will support you and make your steps firm.” We trust in Him, for He never breaks His promise. “He is the best of helpers.” “Sufficient is Allah for us, and He is the best disposer of affairs.” There is no power and no strength except with the Most High, the Almighty.
We ask God, the Almighty, to grant us His victory against the tyrants, criminals and oppressors of our time—America, Israel, and those allied with them—to have mercy on our righteous martyrs, to heal our wounded, and to grant freedom to our prisoners. Indeed, He is the One who hears all prayers.
May God’s peace, mercy, and blessings be upon you.

Harvard Law School moves closer to divestment from Israel following referendum

In the latest move by pro-Palestinian students at US universities, the Harvard Law School (HLS) student body has successfully passed a referendum urging the university to divest from the occupying Tel Aviv regime.
The resolution, which called on Harvard to “divest from weapons, surveillance technology, and other companies aiding violations of international humanitarian law, including Israel’s genocide in Gaza and its ongoing illegal occupation of Palestine,” passed with 72.7 percent of votes in favor, with 842 students participating.
Nearly 2,000 students attend Harvard Law School, according to the university’s newspaper, The Harvard Crimson.
The university’s Palestine Solidarity Committee celebrated the move, calling it a landslide victory that took place “despite federal crackdown and admin’s repression on student activism for Palestine.”
“[US President Donald] Trump cannot repress the student movement for Palestine,” the group said in a statement amid the US president’s crackdown on pro-Palestinian protests across American universities
“The university must answer our call and divest from companies that profit from Palestinian annihilation,” it added.
The referendum was first proposed in a petition by student group Law Students for a Free Palestine (LSFP), which passed the 300-signature threshold needed to trigger a Student Government referendum in February.
In a press release, HLS LSFP organizer Irene Ameena commended the result as a rebuke of Trump.
“The Trump administration’s threats are meant to scare us into submission, but this referendum shows that those efforts only strengthen our solidarity with Palestine,” she said.
Thursday night’s results mark the second time a Harvard student body has voted in favor of divesting from Israel.
The call for divestment generally entails calling on institutions to cut economic and any other relevant ties with Israel as a form of protest against its occupation of the Palestinian territories, and more recently its bloody onslaught in Gaza which has killed over 61,000 Palestinians since October 7, 2023.
In June last year, students at the Harvard School of Public Health voted to demand that Harvard divest from Israel, and governments at the Law School, Harvard Divinity School, and the Graduate School of Design have all made similar calls too.
Yemen resumes naval blockade against Israeli ships in support of Gaza

The Yemeni Armed Forces announced the resumption of their naval blockade on all Israeli ships in the Red Sea, the Arabian Sea, the Bab al-Mandab Strait, and the Gulf of Aden.
Sanaa’s decision comes after the expiration of the deadline set by Ansar Allah leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi for mediators to pressure the Israeli occupation into reopening Gaza’s border crossings and allowing humanitarian aid into the besieged territory.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Yemeni Armed Forces declared the immediate enforcement of the blockade, warning that any Israeli vessel attempting to breach the restriction would be targeted within the designated operational zones.
The military stressed that the blockade would remain in place until the Israeli occupation complies with the demand to reopen Gaza’s border crossings and facilitate the entry of essential food and medical supplies.
The statement reaffirmed Yemen’s unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people, particularly in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, and reiterated its commitment to standing alongside the Palestinian resistance.
Famine looming over Gaza
Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem warned Tuesday that Gaza is facing the early stages of a real famine due to the Israeli occupation’s continued blockade on the entry of food supplies for the tenth consecutive day. He stressed that the humanitarian situation has been dire since the beginning of the Israeli aggression.
In a statement, Qassem highlighted the severe food crisis gripping the besieged enclave, where essential supplies are running out under the ongoing blockade. He noted that the closure of border crossings constitutes a blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement, which stipulates the unrestricted flow of humanitarian aid.
Hamas condemned the Israeli occupation’s actions, calling the blockade a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions.
The movement described it as a flagrant war crime and collective punishment against civilians, warning that the siege has led to soaring food prices and a severe shortage of medical supplies amid an escalating humanitarian catastrophe.
The group also pointed out that the closure of crossings was hindering recovery and reconstruction efforts in Gaza. The ban on the entry of heavy equipment has obstructed relief teams from carrying out their duties.
Yemen pledges to resume operations
Previously, Sayyed al-Houthi said Sanaa was continuously monitoring and observing developments in Gaza amid the Israeli occupation’s complete evasion of its commitments to the ceasefire agreement.
In a late February speech, Sayyed al-Houthi also revealed that Yemen was prepared to intervene militarily had Trump carried out his threat to restart the war on Gaza if Hamas did not release the Israeli captives.
“Yemen remains steadfast in its support for the Palestinian people and Resistance factions in confronting Israel’s attempts to evade the ceasefire agreement and its second phase,” al-Houthi emphasized, warning that if the war is reignited in Gaza, “the entire Zionist entity, starting with occupied Yafa, will come under fire,” amid the Yemeni support and military intervention.
Sayyed al-Houthi reiterated his stance on Friday, giving mediators a four-day deadline to ensure the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza, warning that if the Israeli occupation continues to block aid deliveries, naval operations against Israeli-linked vessels will resume.
Al-Houthi accused the Israeli occupation of delaying its commitments under the Gaza ceasefire agreement, particularly concerning humanitarian provisions. He stated that while Hamas had fully honored its obligations, the occupation had failed to uphold its side of the deal.
“The humanitarian aspect of the agreement includes clear obligations with guarantees from mediators, yet Israel is trying to evade them,” he said.
Al-Houthi also condemned intensified Israeli attacks in the occupied West Bank and al-Quds, highlighting the role of Israeli settlers in escalating violence against Palestinians. He criticized US support for the Israeli occupation under President Donald Trump, saying Washington’s backing had emboldened the regime’s policies of displacement and aggression against Palestinians.
