Will sanctions against Iran work?

There seems to be a near-universal consensus that sanctions won’t persuade Iran’s leaders to abandon the Islamic republic’s uranium enrichment program — but maybe that’s besides the point. Maybe by now what would be the most cynical interpretation of the Obama administration’s objectives can also be treated as the most credible view.

In this instance, what does that mean? It means that the drive to impose sanctions on Iran has less to do with Iran than it has to do with calming the fears of the Democratic Party’s wealthiest Zionist donors ahead of this fall’s midterm elections.

Unnerved by the repeated warnings that Israel faces an existential threat, these donors won’t sign their checks until they’ve heard a sufficiently soothing answer to the question: “What are you doing about Iran?”

“We’ll do whatever it takes.” “We’re pushing for tougher sanctions than the Bush administration did.” “We’re absolutely dedicated to preventing Iran acquiring a nuclear weapons capability.”

  1. In the short time that Obama has been President he has been elevated to the #2 position in the rankings as the most digraced President, the number one position clearly going to Johnson and his cover up of the USS Liberty.
    No one, in my reckoning, can ever say Johnson served the people of the US while he served the parasitic Israeli cause even more so. The same applies to the senior public servants around him. May the memories of the American people expunge any details of this totally disgraced man.
    As for Obama, he has totally hoodwinked the people who, after 8 years of the buffoon George Bush, gave him their support to make changes and they are still waiting. He has become a slave to the New World Order, the Zionists and Jews generally, whatever their colour and inclinations. If they are Jews they have his undivided attention. He had a grand chance to force these insidious people to becoming a loyal group, one passport, one flag and patriotic. Instead he has wallowed in the AIPAC dictates, bowing and scraping, day in day out until US foreign policy has become a sick joke around the world.
    How can he trash the feelings and enthusiasm of the American people by immediately succumbing to the Jewish media cries for war, this time in Afghanistan when we had the previous incumbent, bumbling Bush, indulging himself in a Jewish-inspired ‘shock and awe’. Now, of course, he is on the way to placating the Israelis yet again, in relation to Iran, a country without nuclear weapons, a signatory to the NPT and who have tolerated the slings and arrows, malice and hatred of the Israelis, the most hated country probably in the history of the world.
    I doubt if any country would shed a tear if Israel vanished off the face of the planet.
    As for sanctions, what hypocrisy! Why? Russia, for one has said that they do not agree to such an action as will China, hopefully. It is time that the US with its powers of veto has a taste of the vetos from other countries. And today we have the Israeli puppet Clinton off to South Korea to stir up further trouble in that geography.
    A never ending journey of alienation and power plays.
    Given time, Obama could make #1 on the disgraced list. He is certainly on the way there right now.
