Haniyeh to Iranian People: You Are Partners in Arab Victories

Palestinian Prime Minister in Gaza Ismail Haniyeh took part Saturday in Iran’s commemoration of its 1979 Islamic Revolution in Tehran. After thanking the Islamic Republic for supporting the resistance movements, he assured in a speech he delivered before the millions of participants in the celebrations that Hamas “will never recognize Israel”.
“They want us to recognize the Israeli occupation and cease resistance but, as the representative of the Palestinian people and in the name of all the world’s freedom seekers, I am announcing from Azadi Square in Tehran that we will never recognize Israel,” he said.
Haniyeh further emphasized that resistance and jihad are the strategic choice for this nation and the only path for liberating Al-Quds.
“The resistance will continue until all the Palestinian land, including Al-Quds, is liberated and all the refugees return,” he said.
Indicating that the Iranian people are a partner in the Arab victory against the Zionist entity, the Palestinian prime minister rejected the American and Zionist threats to the Islamic Republic, and the Western interference in the Arab and Islamic region, and stressed the importance of Islamic unity.
“The Islamic Revolution in Iran, the resistance, and the Arab spring assure that this is the period of the people, and that no one could stand against the will of the people,” he added.
Moreover, Haniyeh continued addressing the Iranian people saying: “We come to you, o Muslim people, on this day, to embrace the victories from the blessed land of Palestine to the Islamic revolution in Iran.”

6 MAJOR US foreign policy failures of the post-Cold War era

In the 1990s, US officials, all of whom would go on to serve in the George W. Bush White House, authored two short, but deeply important policy documents that have subsequently been the guiding force behind every major US foreign policy decision taken since the year 2000 and particularly since 9/11.
These documents include the Defense Planning Guidance for the 1994–99 fiscal years (more commonly known as the Wolfowitz Doctrine). This document, as the name implies was authored by George W. Bush’s deeply influential Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz as well as I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby, who served as an advisor to former US Vice President Dick Cheney.
The other major document, A Clean Break: A New Strategy for Securing the Realm, from 1996 was authored by former Chairman of the Defense Policy Board Advisory Committee in the administration of George W. Bush, Richard Norman Perle.
Both documents provide a simplistic but highly unambiguous blueprint for US foreign police in the Middle East, Russia’s near abroad and East Asia. The contents of the Wolfowitz Doctrine were first published by the New York Times in 1992 after they were leaked to the media. Shortly thereafter, many of the specific threats made in the document were re-written using broader language. In this sense, when comparing the official version with the leaked version, it reads in the manner of the proverbial ‘what I said versus what I meant’ adage.
By contrast, A Clean Break was written in 1996 as a kind of gift to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who apparently was not impressed with the document at the time. In spite of this, the US has implemented many of the recommendations in the document in spite of who was/is in power in Tel Aviv.
While many of the recommendations in both documents have indeed been implemented, their overall success rate has been staggeringly bad.

“Hamas can’t be beaten. Obviously President Obama shouldn’t join it, but he may have no choice to work with it…. According to the Prophetic Traditions – The true Believers would never be deated but by the munafiqoon (hypocrites) within. An there has never been shortage of such back-stabbers in the Islamic history. The latest one is PA Guru Mahmoud Abbas. On October 1, Israel’s ambassador at Geneva, Aharon Leshno-Yaar admitted that he will never have enough votes to postpone debate on Goldstone Report at the UN Human Right Council. But then on the very next day, PA withdrew its resolution to adopt Goldstone’s recommendations (independent inquiries by both Israel and Hamas or the findings go to ICC). Now, I don’t have to explain why PA did it. Your guess is good as mine!!
Reaction to PA treachery from pro-Palestinian resistance groups, as expected, was shear disappointment and furious. A senior member of democratically elected Hamas government, Mahmoud al-Zahar told Al-Jazeera: “He (Abbas) is encouraging Israeli military leaders to attack Gaza, to kill Hamas, and to kill people because they voted for Hamas, to postpone a very important report concerning the Israelis committing crimes against human-beings. He should resign and he should seek a fair trial. He is not representing any of the Palestinian people.”
Thousands of Palestinians protested against PA betryal in the West Bank and Jerusalem. Thirty-two Palestinian groups in Europe too, called Abbas to step down from office immediately. Abbas’ prime minister Salam Fayyad and his planning minister Ali Jarbawi, both were reportedly ‘surprised’ on Abbas’ consent to postpone the vote. Syria on its part has postponed Abbas’ scheduled visit to Damascus in protest.
The joke is now Abbas is blaming his anti-Islamic Resistance – the western-puppet Arab and Muslim regimes – while they’re blaming him for the betryal.
Interestingly, Israel’s vice-prime minister and strategic minister, Moshe Yaalon, has just postponed his visit to London – fearing that he maybe arrested for his involvement in the 2002 murder of 15 people including Hamas leader Salah Shehadeh, his wife and eight children by droping one tonne bomb in Gaza city.
James Gundun wrote: “President Obama and Israel have no chance of marginalizing Hamas through wars, blockades, diplomatic exclusion, or military and economic support for the Fatah. Their only hope is advancing the peace process and robbing Hamas of its cause to resist. Otherwise stalled negotiations play right into Hamas’s hands, who is using the delay to reposition itself as a necessary component of Palestinian statehood and champion the resistance in the face of Israeli obstinacy.”
And then James Gudun concludes: ”Herein lie President Obama’s choices. He can continue to let Israel act unilaterally and with impunity in the West Bank and Gaza – and risk a Third Intifada. He can continue to let Israel dominate the peace process and control who America negotiates with – and risk a Third Intifada. The path least headed towards a Third Intifada is objective handling of Israel and engagement with Hamas, ironic as that may seem to America. 2010 could catapult Hamas back into the West Bank and the peace process, at which point exclusion will no longer be possible.”
