Schumer, ‘guardian of Israel,’ calls anti-Zionism a form of antisemitism

Sen. Chuck Schumer marches in the Celebrate Israel Parade in the rain on June 5, 2016 in New York City
If Americans Knew | July 18, 2017
In a recent speech on the Senate floor, New York Senator Charles Schumer said that anti-Zionism is a form of anti-Semitism. (In a 2010 speech Schumer said that God made him a ‘guardian of Israel’ – see below).
Schumer, the Senate minority leader, made his remarks at the end of a speech on health care. Schumer said he wanted to thank French President Emmanuel Macron for his recent comments claiming that anti-Zionism was antisemitism.
Schumer claimed that the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, an extremely diverse movement that includes many Jewish individuals and groups, is “antisemitic.”
Schumer said: “The global BDS movement is a deeply biased campaign that I would say, in similar words to Mr. Macron, is a ‘reinvented form of anti-Semitism’ because it seeks to impose boycotts on Israel and not on any other nation.”
The Jewish Telegraphic Agency’s report on Schumer’s remarks notes that Schumer is the Senate’s “highest-ranking Jewish lawmaker.”
The claim that criticism of Israel is antisemitic has been promoted by an international campaign working to embed this as a new definition of “antisemitism.”
Schumer says he is a ‘guardian of Israel’
In 2010, Schumer told an AIPAC convention: “As some of you know, my name is a Hebrew word. “Schumer” comes from the Hebrew word “Shomer,” which means “guardian,” “watchman.”
Schumer said his name was given to him “for a reason”:
“For as long as I live, for as long as I have the privilege of serving in the Senate from New York, I will unflinchingly, unstintingly and with all of my strength be Shomer Yisrael, a guardian of Israel. Ladies and gentlemen, Am Yisrael Chai, in Israel and America, the Jewish nation lives now and forever.”

A New Era Of Mass Armies Approaches
BY IAN WELSH | SEPTEMBER 29, 2023
The army, or a part of it at the war college, has perked up and noticed some of the lessons of the Ukraine war, and that it’s a war that the US military could not fight. They’ve missed a lot of things, or felt they couldn’t/shouldn’t write about them, but they’ve figured some stuff out and written about them in a new report, “A Call to Action: Lessons from Ukraine for the Future Force” by Lieutenant Colonel Katie Crombe, and Professor John A. Nagle.
The entire thing is worth reading, but I’m going to pull out three of the main points. The first is that a volunteer US military can’t fight a real war.
The Russia-Ukraine War is exposing significant vulnerabilities in the Army’s strategic personnel depth and ability to withstand and replace casualties.11 Army theater medical planners may anticipate a sustained rate of roughly 3,600 casualties per day, ranging from those killed in action to those wounded in action or suffering disease or other non-battle injuries. With a 25 percent predicted replacement rate, the personnel system will require 800 new personnel each day. For context, the United States sustained about 50,000 casualties in two decades of fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. In large-scale combat operations, the United States could experience that same number of casualties in two weeks. (emphasis mine)

It’s easy to see where Schumer’s loyalty lies, and it is clearly NOT the USA. And, given that just about everyone in the Western World who has ever been critical of Israel’s actions , has been branded as “Anti-Semitic”, maybe they are right, in their criticism. We can’t ALL be wrong. Schumer needs an attitude adjustment.

In these strange days someone who is anti-war, in other words anyone who wishes for peace on Earth, is now perceived by those like Charles Schumer as anti-semitic. Ask members of the Rothschild family for their opinions – go to the source of the irrationality.

When senior New York State Senator Chuck Schumer defines anti-semitism the way he did on the US Senate floor yesterday, he was not quoting a universally accepted and applicable definition from a standard dictionary. He was reciting a self-serving definition offered by AIPAC as well as by those currently ruling Israel who equate Israel’s security with continued occupation of the disputed Palestinian territories in the absence of a final status agreement and, consequently, necessitate ruling over the Palestinians in those territories, Gaza in particular, as less than humans, because their self-determination, as Schumer sees it, is less important than Israel’s which, by the way, pursues policies which are of Zionist orientation, rather than Jewish because Schumer’s definition conflates the two terms and suppresses meaningful debate about these terms.

As a New Yorker, I along with my compadres have tried to get this man voted out of office for years. But, the sheep are asleep. We as a nation have allowed the 1-2% of the population take control of our nation. Stop putting these Zionist, communist, progressives and neoconservatives in office. Did I cover all of them. It’s tough living in Jew York. I will add, cut Israel foreign aid, make them claim their borders, make them sign the nuclear proliferation act. Investigate all war crimes since 1947…

Equating anti-Zionism with anti-Semitism is both false and unethical. It hijacks the right of non-Zionist and anti-Zionist Jews to freely define their political identity, labels them with a political ideology they reject and casts doubt on their allegiance to their countries.
