Trump orders expulsion of 60 Russian diplomats, closure of Seattle consulate

RT | March 26, 2018

President Donald Trump has ordered the expulsion of 60 Russian diplomats and the closure of the Russian consulate in Seattle. It comes in response to the poisoning of Sergei Skripal in Salisbury, which the UK has blamed on Russia.

The move follows major diplomatic pressure by the UK on its allies to follow their lead in expelling Russian diplomats. The Russian embassy in Washington had previously urged Trump not to heed the “fake news” on Skripal’s poisoning.

British Prime Minister Theresa May has accused Moscow of being behind the poisoning of the former spy Skripal and his daughter in the town of Salisbury in early March.

Of the 60 diplomats expelled, 12 formed part of the Russian mission to the United Nations. In a statement, US ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley said the 12 Russians in question had “abused their privilege of residence” in the US and had “engaged in espionage activities that are adverse to our national security.”

Haley said that the Russian diplomats had used the UN as “a safe haven for dangerous activities within our own borders.”

During a summit in Brussels last week, the 28 EU leaders agreed with Britain’s assertion that it is “highly likely” that Russia was responsible for the attack on Skripal.

Members of the EU numbering 14 have also decided to expel Russian diplomats following Britain’s lead.

Canada has also jumped on the bandwagon, announcing that it will expel four Russian diplomats “in solidarity” with the UK.

The timing of the expulsions by the US, EU and Canada appears to have been coordinated between Washington and Brussels. Eight EU countries confirmed within 15 minutes of each other on Monday afternoon that they would expel a number of Russian diplomats. Canada’s announcement followed shortly after.

Moscow has always denied playing any role in the attack, and offered to cooperate with the investigation into the incident. Britain has declined, however, to send samples of the chemical agent used on Skripal and his daughter to Moscow.

“Engaged in espionage”? I think that America’s “Great Friend” Israel has been caught red handed on a number of occasions doing exactly the same thing, and gone completely unpunished. And, given the number of Dual Passport holders at the very Top of the American Political and business, ensures that espionage continues to this very day.
What is America’s, is also Israel’s……

  2. Seattle???–rhymes with battle, slippery-slope-sliding to war on a third-world-war level. Is this what the world wants? When will the world stand up to the crazed, Zionist-dominated US regime? Demonstrably, we laypeople in the U.S. are beyond any hope of helping ourselves: we are “entanglingly” and irretrievably occupied by Jewish-Zionist forces of infiltrated evil from whose guiding operational “chosen ones” platform in Tel Aviv (improbably but truly) mankind is menaced.

As the latter-day prophet Paul Craig Roberts often cries in the wilderness of today, won’t Russia stand up and be…Russia, an independent and proud Russia, before it is too late?

BTW, Palestine Is Still THE Issue!! I.e., solve Palestine in favor of justice and international law; then begin to tackle, one by one, the other inequities and morasses that are all too abundant in this suffering global village.

That’s like asking Sheldon Adelson to clean the toilets at one of his Casino’s….It ain’t going to happen.

      • Perhaps you see reality and truth more clearly than I, Brian. But to me that doesn’t mean that, e.g., Russia — or Australia! — shouldn’t act like adults in the room and take a lead to “clean the toilets…” Or is this hope-vs.-hope simply another “It ain’t going to happen” moment? (How about Australia, a full-fledged co-equal UNGA member, taking the lead toward an international-consensus resolution demanding sanity and statesmanship, not brinkmanship, in the interest, everyone’s but Zionism’s interest, of avoiding WWIII…? I’ll bet she’d get a full-throated near-unanimous roar of agreement.)

        • Australia?….taking a lead?…..Our politicians are held in utter contempt by the Australian people. WE do what America and Britain tell us to do…….We’ve already had one Prime Minister ‘removed from office’ in a coup d’état in 1975 and another Prime Minister mysteriously disappeared in monsterous surf, in 1967, and was never seen or heard from again……

          • Sigh … https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/the_americas/the-latest-australia-expels-2-russian-diplomats/2018/03/27/d65abb70-3173-11e8-b6bd-0084a1666987_story.html?utm_term=.5d9bbcdee334&wpisrc=nl_az_most&wpmk=1 .

            All reason has been lost….

(But isn’t it soooo comforting to note this? — “Meanwhile, U.N. deputy spokesman Farhan Haq said Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is closely following the developments and will ‘engage as appropriate with the governments concerned.’ ”)

Brian, to be a bit serious in a potentially calamitous international situation portending WWIII, your “Our politicians are held in utter contempt by the Australian people.” mirrors the public’s view in the U.S. of “our” politicians. But most of the dumbed-down U.S. public don’t even know WHY politicians, non-elected/appointed cabinet and bureaucracy-heading “elites,” the embedded MSM, Zionist think tanks and lobby tentacles, financial vultures et al deserve contempt.

I value our interaction…would appreciate a helluva lot more [any!!] input by other readers….
