Pentagon: Turkish Unilateral Action in Northeast Syria Would Be ‘Unacceptable’

WASHINGTON – A Turkish unilateral military operation in northeast Syria if launched would be unacceptable and Ankara should consult with the United States to address the security situation, Defense Department spokesperson Cmdr. Sean Robertson told Sputnik.
Earlier, Ankara announced that the Turkish military would launch an operation against Kurdish forces.
“Unilateral military action into northeast Syria by any party, particularly as US personnel may be present or in the vicinity, is of grave concern,” Robertson said on Wednesday when asked about Turkey’s announcement. “We would find any such actions unacceptable… coordination and consultation between the US and Turkey is the only approach to address issues of security concern in this area.”
The United States believes that the High Level Working Group on Syria with its Turkish partners is the only way to secure the northeastern border area in a sustainable manner, Robertson said.
Uncoordinated military operations will undermine the shared US-Turkish interests in Syria, Robertson said. As a NATO ally and key partner in the Global Coalition against Daesh terrorist group*, both countries have solemn obligations to each other’s security, he added.
The United States remains committed to Turkey’s border security, he said.
US-Turkish relations have suffered a setback amid Ankara’s concerns over US support for the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG). Ankara has also repeatedly accused Washington of failing to fulfil its promises regarding the withdrawal of the YPG from Syria’s Manbij.
Ankara regards YPG as an affiliate of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), outlawed in Turkey.

On January 26, The Dissenter covered how the CIA funded unethical experiments on Danish orphans for at least two decades from the early 1960s onwards.
These grim trials were conducted as part of the mind control program MKULTRA, which was secretly farmed out overseas as it wound down in the United States due to the threat of exposure.
A 1963 CIA Inspector General report shows that the expansion worldwide had unfolded for some time.
“It does not follow termination of covert testing of MKULTRA materials on unwitting U.S. citizens will bring the program to a halt. Some testing on foreign nationals has been occurring under the present arrangements,” the document stated. “Various U.S. deep cover agents overseas would appear to be more favorably situated than the U.S. narcotics agents to perform realistic testing.”
As such, it’s reasonable—and indeed vital—to ask, where else in the world did the CIA support unethical human experiments on vulnerable and defenseless youths?
West Germany, the country forged in May 1949 from the military occupation zones of the U.S., United Kingdom, and France, could be one place where the mind control program expanded. … continue

Maybe the USA should withdraw its Forces from Syria, as demanded by the legitimate President, Mr Assad would be a good idea, so that there can be no ‘accidental’ American deaths…….

Syria is a sovereign state. Turkey needs to consult with Syria before it crosses into its border. That is an act of war. I would also like to remind people that Syria had the no.1 economy in the region until the IMF/World Bank decided to look in their direction. The US had good relations with Syria up until 2010. Syria has zero foreign debt and is no.3 in oil. The American-Israel-Saudi pact doesn’t help. These oil and gas pipelines don’t help. Israel clearly wants to extend its border and acquire more oil. Saudi does not like secular states in the region. Our NeoCons desire world domination through Israel and the Petro-Dollar. Our neoliberals desire the destruction of Russia/China for global conquest. When will the people wake from their slumber.
