Russia explains retaliation for Ukrainian ‘terror attack’

Russia’s military has conducted a string of high-precision missile strikes targeting Ukrainian military facilities and officials in response to the Ukrainian strike on Belgorod on Saturday that left more than 20 civilians dead, the Defense Ministry has said.
In a statement on Sunday, the ministry said that Moscow’s forces had struck decision-making centers and other military targets in the city of Kharkov, not far from the border between the two countries.
It noted that a high-precision missile strike on the building formerly housing the Kharkov Palace Hotel eliminated “representatives of the Main Intelligence Directorate and the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who were directly involved in the planning and execution of the terrorist attack in Belgorod.”
The building also housed up to 200 foreign mercenaries who were gearing up for “terrorist raids” into Russian territory, officials added.
Other strikes hit the building of Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) and a temporary deployment area of Ukrainian nationalists. “Representatives of the SBU leadership, foreign mercenaries and fighters of the Kraken unit, who were directly preparing sabotage on Russian territory, have been taken out,” officials said.
In addition to this, an attack was carried out on a branch of the national space control center in western Ukraine, which had been used by Kiev for reconnaissance. Fuel depots in Kharkov and the Kiev-controlled part of Russia’s Zaporozhye Region were also destroyed, according to the statement. At the same time, the ministry stressed that the Russian military “only strikes military targets and infrastructure directly associated with them.”
Ukrainian officials in Kharkov have confirmed the barrage, saying that there had been six strikes that damaged “civilian infrastructure,” with 28 injured.
The new attack comes in response to a Ukrainian bombardment of Belgorod that killed at least 24 people, including four children, with 108 injured. Moscow has said that the barrage used both cluster munitions, as well as Czech-made projectiles. On Saturday, Vassily Nebenzia, Russia’s envoy to the UN, accused Western countries of complicity in the attack, warning that those who orchestrated it would be “punished.”

The army, or a part of it at the war college, has perked up and noticed some of the lessons of the Ukraine war, and that it’s a war that the US military could not fight. They’ve missed a lot of things, or felt they couldn’t/shouldn’t write about them, but they’ve figured some stuff out and written about them in a new report, “A Call to Action: Lessons from Ukraine for the Future Force” by Lieutenant Colonel Katie Crombe, and Professor John A. Nagle.
The entire thing is worth reading, but I’m going to pull out three of the main points. The first is that a volunteer US military can’t fight a real war.
The Russia-Ukraine War is exposing significant vulnerabilities in the Army’s strategic personnel depth and ability to withstand and replace casualties.11 Army theater medical planners may anticipate a sustained rate of roughly 3,600 casualties per day, ranging from those killed in action to those wounded in action or suffering disease or other non-battle injuries. With a 25 percent predicted replacement rate, the personnel system will require 800 new personnel each day. For context, the United States sustained about 50,000 casualties in two decades of fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. In large-scale combat operations, the United States could experience that same number of casualties in two weeks. (emphasis mine)

Escalatory attacks on Russia by NATO followed by Russia’s retaliatory strikes, only brings the world that much closer to WWIII. Everyone knows, although they may not admit, that Ukraine is a pawn of the US. Biden and like thinkers such as Lindsey Graham care not how many Ukrainians are killed by Russia. Zelenskyy is so desperate he is ordering pregnant women and old men to the front, where the average age is 43.
If Putin would halt the SMO and declare full scale war on Ukraine with the intention of ending the war quickly with total victory on the battlefield, lives would be saved and Ukraine would have no choice but to accept surrender and negotiations. The longer Zelenskyy waits the less leverage he is going to have. Total Russian military victory will force Washington to see the futility of it all in trying to conquer Russia. Forcing Blinken, Sullivan and Austin and consequently Joe Biden into a corner. For a Ukraine defeat means NATO is defeated. And that spells the end not only of this war but the potential end of the Hegemon mentality that propels it. It will also end the spending of billions of dollars to prop up the Military-Industrial-Financial complex and a reallocation of funds for real physical economic recovery. Ukraine will need a Marshall Plan level of rebuilding in order to recover. NATO/US defeat in Ukraine must also effect the end of genocide in Gaza. Peace through peaceful diplomacy has to end the last 70 years of geopolitics that have led to one after the other of endless wars. Don’t give war mongers in the West the satisfaction of coming back into power either. That will fall on the shoulders of the millions of people who are outraged by the actions of Israel in Gaza. Therefore it is my opinion that Putin should commit his country to fighting a total war now instead of waiting for Ukraine and NATO to continuing the war of attrition will save lives and deal a fatal blow to the M-I-F complex.
