Arab poll: Obama worse than Bush, German poll: US bigger peace threat than Iran

A recent survey conducted in Germany has revealed that the people of the European country perceive the United States as a more serious threat to global peace than Iran.
Results from the opinion poll carried out by the German social research and statistical analysis, Forsa, indicate that 45 percent of those surveyed believe that the US is a more serious threat to world peace than Iran.
Twenty-eight percent of the respondents deemed Iran a bigger threat than the US, with 27 percent unable to choose between the two.
The survey, which questioned 1,500 German adults on June 17-29, 2011, did not include other choices such as Israel, which analysts introduce as a better-known threat to peace in the world’s public opinion.
The results of the Forsa study come at a time when the US, the only country to have ever used nuclear bombs against another nation, is attempting to put mounting international pressure on Iran to force the Islamic Republic to halt its peaceful nuclear program.
Meanwhile, a new poll released on Wednesday cast light on the dissatisfaction of a vast majority of the people in the Arab world with US President Barack Obama and his administration’s policies in the Middle East.
The poll conducted by the Arab American Institute in the six Arab nations of Morocco, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) demonstrated that the Obama administration is viewed less favorably in much of the Arab world today than that of his predecessor George W. Bush during his last year in office.
Only 5 percent of Egyptians surveyed said they have a favorable opinion of the US and its president. The same figure was 10 percent in Jordan and 12 percent in the UAE.
The poll also found that 88 percent of Moroccans think that Obama has not met the expectations laid out in his 2009 “Cairo speech.”
Disappointment with the US was highest in Lebanon, where 99 percent of the respondents disapproved of Obama’s policies. In Saudi Arabia, 77 percent of the respondents said they felt betrayed by the US.

Ronald Reagan’s Torture

The 2004 CIA Inspector General’s report, released in August 2009, referenced as “background” to the Bush-era abuses the spy agency’s “intermittent involvement in the interrogation of individuals whose interests are opposed to those of the United States.” The report noted “a resurgence in interest” in teaching those techniques in the early 1980s “to foster foreign liaison relationships.”
The report said, “because of political sensitivities,” the CIA’s top brass in the 1980s “forbade Agency officers from using the word ‘interrogation” and substituted the phrase “human resources exploitation” [HRE] in training programs for allied intelligence agencies.
The euphemism aside, the reality of these interrogation techniques remained brutal, with the CIA Inspector General conducting a 1984 investigation of alleged “misconduct on the part of two Agency officers who were involved in interrogations and the death of one individual,” the report said (although the details were redacted in the version released to the public).
In 1984, the CIA also was hit with a scandal over what became known as an “assassination manual” prepared by agency personnel for the Nicaraguan Contras, a rebel group sponsored by the Reagan administration with the goal of ousting Nicaragua’s leftist Sandinista government.
Despite those two problems, the questionable training programs apparently continued for another two years. The 2004 IG report states that “in 1986, the Agency ended the HRE training program because of allegations of human rights abuses in Latin America.”
While the report’s references to this earlier era of torture are brief – and the abuses are little-remembered features of Ronald Reagan’s glorified presidency – there have been other glimpses into how Reagan unleashed this earlier “dark side” on the peasants, workers and students of Central America. … continue

I think the polling results would and should be the same in the United States as to Obama being the greatest threat of world peace.
And I am impressed by the 99% disapproval of Obama’s policies in Lebanon. That makes the Lebanese the most politically enlightened people in the Middle East, and the world unless 100% is achieved somewhere in the world.
Polls need to be converted in binding ballot propositions or plebiscites worldwide to at minimum impose at complete and total ban of aid, trade, investment, travel (to and from), loans, grants, sales, and political recognition of Israel as anything but a rogue bastard state that has consistently and perversely violated the terms of its lease to part of Palestine erroneously by the United Nations.
The real horror is the weapons of mass destruction (WMD) Israel has unjustly acquired, and must be disarmed as a clear and present danger to instigation of mounting threat of a thermal-nuclear world war that would engulf the Northern Hemisphere, creating a true holocaust and global consequences of a million Fukushimas in a matter of minutes.
Obama is not only worse than George Bush Jr., he is the worst head of state in the world, past and present, for he is pushing the world to the edge of that otherwise less possible World War III since the madness of the Kennedy administrations criminal aggression against Cuba. About which JFK stated he had committed an impeachable offense and would have been if was head of state of an European country.
