Israelis admit pushing long-term contraceptives on Ethiopian women

Al Akhbar – January 27, 2013

An Israeli official acknowledged the practice of injecting women of Ethiopian descent with long-acting contraceptive Depo-Provera, Haaretz reported Sunday.

The birth-rate of the Israeli Ethiopian community had declined by over 50 percent in the past 10 years.

Sharona Eliahu of the Israeli Association of Civil Rights in January wrote a letter saying an investigation into the practice should be launched and that the injections should cease.

In response, Health Ministry Director General Prof. Ron Gamzu asked translators to volunteer their time so that doctors might communicate with their patients.

He also told four health maintenance organizations to stop the injections if the women do not fully understand the consequences of the drug, according to the Israeli daily.

State agencies and ministries had previously denied knowing of the practice which had been reported for the first time five years ago.

Depo-Provera is administered every three months and clinical trials show a near-zero percent failure rate in preventing pregnancies.

Many of the women experienced abnormal uterine bleeding however, which interferes with sexual intimacy.

It has also been said to decrease women’s sex-drive.

Fifty percent of women on hormonal birth-control are said to stop having their period after a year. Even after discontinuing the medication, it can take a year for a woman’s period to regulate.

Beyond making the woman sterile for as long as they are on the drug, a common side-effect of the contraceptive is significantly decreased bone density.

Depo-Provera has also been used with male sex-offenders as a form of chemical castration, as it greatly reduces the male sex-drive.

  1. There is not enough can be said about this truly wicked scheme…it’s not as if there wasn’t enough information about Depo’s impact on African women and including Puerto Rican and Haitian women. When I was an undergrad I researched and wrote about this very topic and that was in the 70s when all sorts of health risks were associated with DP for women of color. Surely the medical geniuses in apartheid Israel knew what they were doing.

Here’s an excerpt from an article about this very issue:
In 1992, over the objections of organizations such as the National Black Women’s Health Project, the Food and Drug Administration finally gave the green light for use of Depo-Provera in the U.S.

In the early 1970s, the attempted introduction of this injectable contraceptive met with a firestorm of protest from the feminist movement because of its health hazards and the coercive way it was prescribed by public officials (who disregarded the lack of FDA approval). Now, after lobbying intensively for more than 20 years, the giant Upjohn Company has succeeded in getting Depo-Provera on the U.S. market.

Norplant, in contrast, won quick acceptance by the FDA in 1990.

Both drugs are being heavily promoted by HMOs, government-funded programs including Indian Health Services, and Planned Parenthood. Just as with the genocidal history of forced sterilization, the primary targets for these poisons are women of color and poor women.

What the Surgeon General isn’t telling you.

Depo-Provera is the brand name for a synthetic hormone, progesterone, which is injected. The progesterone gradually releases into a woman’s body, causing changes in the uterine lining that prevent pregnancy. The effect of one shot lasts for about three months.

Norplant also uses progesterone, but encased in small silicone rubber tubes inserted into the arm. Norplant works for up to five years and must be removed surgically. Distributed by Wyeth-Ayerst Laboratories, a subsidiary of American Home Products, Norplant was developed by the Population Council. Based in New York, the council is eugenicist – i.e., it seeks to lower the birth rates of “unfit” women of color, welfare mothers, and women in poor nations.

The side effects of these drugs, about which women are chronically uninformed, are often devastating, sometimes permanent, and have led to deaths.

Norplant users can experience headaches, heavy and continuous menstrual bleeding, blood clots, nausea, excessive weight gain, abdominal pain, breast tenderness, depression, and vision impairment – problems that have prompted more than 400 lawsuits representing 50,000 women nationally. In late August, American Home Products offered paltry cash settlements of $1,500 each to 36,000 of these women. (AHP, which raked in $2.47 billion last year, is also the maker of the disastrous diet treatment fen-phen.)

Depo-Provera can cause most of the above conditions and possibly osteoporosis and cancer as well.

Women of color treated as guinea pigs.

In a superb book, Killing the Black Body, Dorothy Roberts reviews the horrendous ways in which these drugs have been tested and used.

In the 1970s, even as the FDA barred the general marketing of Depo-Provera domestically, programs funded by the U.S. and United Nations continued to experiment with it and promote it in countries such as Thailand, India, Kenya, Colombia, and Mexico. Under South Africa’s apartheid regime, Black women were offered free injections; some were threatened with being fired from their jobs if they refused them.

Testing also continued at home. In Atlanta, 7,000 African American women were part of clinical trials, and some were not advised as to just what they were taking.

Meanwhile, the Population Council received millions of dollars in U.S. aid to distribute Norplant, too, throughout developing countries. During the 1980s, a U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) project in Peru, where abortion is illegal, gave women who wanted birth control a “choice” between Norplant and sterilization. In Indonesia, coercive measures such as withholding paychecks and denying jobs are utilized to spread the drug.

  2. Additionally….the US Supreme Court in a landmark decision in 1927, when Wm H. Taft was chief justice and Oliver Wendell Holmes wrote the decision… (Carrie) Buck Vs Bell in which the state decided that it was best to sterilize those they deemed to impact the “state” in a negative way. This particular legal case is SO degenerate that I recommend everyone interested to google Buck v Bell to see the dirty details..but perhaps more significant was the fact that the DEFENSE for the nazis used the SCOTUS decision to justify their clients concentration camp medical ‘sterilizations’ etc. They referenced the United States “eugenics” policy!…Nor was this only time the GOI (govt of israel) stooped to this degree of racism …in this case amongst “jews” of North African ethnicity in the early 50s using xrays to the skulls of children to eliminate “lice” without advising their parents first. 100,000 children were ‘treated’ and 6000 died within a matter of months from the zealous use of outdated uncalibrated Pickering xray machines “given” them by the managers of the old “eugenics/sterilzation” program in the United States. Reference the israeli documentary Ringworm’s Children.

  3. Sounds like the perfect solution to the demographic problem. There are different schools of thought among the Zionists on what to do with all those grunting subhuman goyim with which the country is infested: “exterminate ’em”, say some, “expel ’em”, say others, but there’s a third school that says “sterilize ’em”, and evidently that view is gaining ground.

  4. This is a case of seeing evil being done to another human being and thinking that the group committing the evil will exclude other groups. An injustice against one human being is an injustice against the whole of mankind. The Ethiopians ought to learn from that.

  5. The same Depo-Provera scam was going on in the US. I worked for
the health dept in a mountainous area where the clients were all
White and the contraceptive method of choice was Depo-Provera.
No side effects or long term risks were explained. I, being a nurse,
was obligated to inform the clients of said risks unlike the other
professionals who contrived to hide the risks. Another conspiracy
out of many against the American people.

    • Dear Willpower:
I’m glad to know that there was at least one “professional” with conscience and ethical boundaries which
led you to inform clients. Amen to that deed!

……another conspiracy of the many…..against HUMAN KIND

      • Yep, that is true, this is a global crime against humanity. And
I am pretty sure the best is yet to come.
