  1. When I went to school some considerable time ago, IQ was ‘defined’ as the ratio of mental age to chronological age. Duh.. So it was a measure of developmental progress. Implicit in that is the idea that as one aged, any developmental advantage held by the smarties (high IQ) would taper off and die the death of all pseduo-scientific concepts promoted by the psychologists of the time, struggling as they were with self-promotion as a ‘real’ science – you know, the rot where stuff needs to me measured so it can be allowed to exist.
    I can assure the reader that the stupid people I knew then are just as stupid now. Likewise, the smart people I knew then are just as smart now. Interestingly, roughly the same numbers of each category fell in a quivering heap attempting to stare down computers as they rose up to overcome us all.

    Still laughing, after all these years.

  2. IQ is indicative of a brain structure in which mental speed, persistence, error checking and “circuit” switching are factors; all determined by gene DNA arrangement at conception.
