Military Action Should Be Excluded as Response to N. Korea – Russian Envoy to UN

Sputnik – 05.07.2017

Military action should not be an option considered in possible responses to North Korea’s recent launch of an ICBM and its continued work on a nuclear program, Russia’s Deputy Envoy to the United Nations Vladimir Safronkov said during a UN Security Council meeting on Wednesday.

“The possibility of taking military measures to resolve the problems of the Korean peninsula should be excluded,” Safronkov stated.

He also said any attempt to economically strangle North Korea in response to its missile test would be unacceptable.

“Attempts to economically strangle North Korea are equally unacceptable, as millions of people are in humanitarian need,” Safronkov said, after warning the Security Council countries against pursuing any military option.

Instead, the situation around the recent missile launch by North Korea requires close examination, he argued.

“The situation requires a thorough investigation and clarification,” Safronkov said.

He acknowledged that Pyongyang’s most recent missile launch is unacceptable and violated the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

“We find this action from the DPRK to be inadmissible and to be running counter to relevant Security Council resolutions,” Safronkov said. “Russia and China have urged the DPRK to firmly comply with the provisions of set resolutions. We share the concern regarding the evolving situation in the Korean peninsula and escalation of military and political tensions on the peninsula.”

  1. The USA didn’t win the “Korean War” in the ’50’s, and it didn’t win the “American War” in Vietnam in the ’60’s and ’70’s. It would be the height of stupidity to go to war over a ‘missile test’, but such is the state of the M.I.C. that it is a possibility.
The USA should stop ‘exporting” war, and clean up its own mess at home.

  2. We know that, for the monolith, exceptional-nation USA, “all options are on the table.” How dare this Russian fool fool with the USA’s choice-of-the-day-every-day bluster? Nikki Haley baby, what will be your response?

  3. Just like Israel the USA has been at war since its inception…and has not stopped since.
The best thing to happen for the escalation to stop is for the US to get out of South Korea…and let all of Korea decide their fate. What? Democracy? But the stubborn US/ISRAEL/NATO need a HARD KNOCK on their door before that will happen. GTFO USA! One thing is for certain…Kim Jong-un supports Palestinians and their plight…nuff said.
[“”Israel is the only illegal possessor of nuclear weapons that enjoys the support of the United States, but Israel is attacking North Korea for possessing nuclear weapons,” the statement read, adding that this was a move intended to distract from Israeli “occupation” and “crimes against humanity.”]

          • Thanks for the links and these telling videos, Wallflower. The South Korean regime, knowing upon which side its bread is buttered, of course has no truck with BDS — enriching the Zioatrocity so-called Israel by multi-million$ as we dissidents celebrate the most minor BDS “victory” here and there. I’d like to think the advent of the new Moon government in Seoul will effect some changes for sanity, peace talks, reconciliation and reunification on the Korean Peninsula but am not holding my breath….

Maybe I missed it: I wish all videos such as these were affixed with dates of production/issuance in the very first image so that the viewer might gain a solid time context.

Viva Palestine! Viva an independent Korean Peninsula!

            • My pleasure roberthstiver…and “amen” to all you’ve said. At least we have a few things to grasp onto to get the message “straight”. When dealing with arrogance (US/ISRAEL), in their boasting…the truth is revealed. One day true people of all nations will unite against this evil. I am witness to being pushed into a corner…survival takes over.

              • I wasn’t aware of North Korea’s support for the Palestinians, but it helps to explain why the USA is ‘sabre rattling’ against NK, urged on, no doubt, by AIPAC in Washington.
