49 NASA Scientists Tell The Truth

By Willis Eschenbach | Watts Up With That? | September 10, 2020

Next time someone tells you that scientists all support the “dangerous climate change from CO2” hypothesis, point out to them that forty-nine former NASA scientists have written an open letter to NASA pointing out that NASA is hyping unsubstantiated and unverified claims about climate … posted without further comment.

March 28, 2012

The Honorable Charles Bolden, Jr.
NASA Administrator
NASA Headquarters
Washington, D.C. 20546-0001

Dear Charlie,

We, the undersigned, respectfully request that NASA and the Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) refrain from including unproven remarks in public releases and websites. We believe the claims by NASA and GISS, that man-made carbon dioxide is having a catastrophic impact on global climate change are not substantiated, especially when considering thousands of years of empirical data. With hundreds of well-known climate scientists and tens of thousands of other scientists publicly declaring their disbelief in the catastrophic forecasts, coming particularly from the GISS leadership, it is clear that the science is NOT settled.

The unbridled advocacy of CO2 being the major cause of climate change is unbecoming of NASA’s history of making an objective assessment of all available scientific data prior to making decisions or public statements.

As former NASA employees, we feel that NASA’s advocacy of an extreme position, prior to a thorough study of the possible overwhelming impact of natural climate drivers is inappropriate. We request that NASA refrain from including unproven and unsupported remarks in its future releases and websites on this subject. At risk is damage to the exemplary reputation of NASA, NASA’s current or former scientists and employees, and even the reputation of science itself.

For additional information regarding the science behind our concern, we recommend that you contact Harrison Schmitt or Walter Cunningham, or others they can recommend to you.

Thank you for considering this request.

Sincerely,

(Attached signatures)

CC: Mr. John Grunsfeld, Associate Administrator for Science

CC: Ass Mr. Chris Scolese, Director, Goddard Space Flight Center

  1. “The people will believe what the Media tells them to believe”….George Orwell.

I am 71 yo and I can tell you that the World today is not noticeably warmer than it was when I was a child, and, I live in Australia, a land of endless sunshine(except when it rains!) or you go to the snowfields in the Australian Alps, where it still snows, every winter!

It is the media’s job to keep people in a state of anxiety, or, as H.L.Menken once said,

“The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the population alarmed(and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless supply of Hobgoblins, all of them imaginary”.

We’ve had “AIDS, Bird Flue, Ebola Virus, Horse Flu, Swine flue, Zika virus, etc etc, and other maladies that I cant remember them all, and now Corona Virus, which is no worse than Influenza.

It is the “Media’s” job to keep everyone in a state of anxiety, and they do a “magnificent” job of it.

  2. In the long run, we are sitting on a rock with a molten iron core gradually cooling in Galactic space (at -275 degrees C) and thankfully also kept warm by a ball of burning Hydrogen/Helium which must be losing a few trillion kilowatts per second (given that we receive 1.4kW/m2 at 150 million kilometres in a vector of only a few degrees of the 360 degrees cubed of radiation) and therefore cooling down. But even before that, has there not been an Ice Age every 10,000 years and the last one was about 10,000 years ago? Or more recently, there have been Maunder Minima on a roughly 500-year cycle and the last one was around 1600 when the Thames froze, about 420 years ago.
But closer still, ‘green house effects’ surely only work in green houses, where solid glass reduces the losses from warming? There is nothing more solid than gas (mainly CO2 and Methane) enclosing our Planet, as far as we know. It is understood that Carbon acts as a filter which miraculously lets in a full spectrum of radiation but is opaque to long wave (thermal) radiation. But how dense must this Carbon layer be to prevent heat escaping? And if it becomes denser due to cows and burning fossil fuels etc. will it not also inhibit long wave radiation coming in, thereby reducing Global warming?
However, a benefit of the ‘Global Warming’ charade is that it may help keep the air we breathe cleaner. It also boosts investment in renewable energy conversion devices which save oil and gas for future generations which may depend on them for niche consumption – for lubrication and concentrated energy needs, for example.
So, yes; “the media is doing a magnificent job keeping us in a state of anxiety”! But we can let them keep up the deception while we quietly ignore the fake science.

    • Global warming agenda disregards the environment altogether, most of its “solutions” are much worse for ecology and health than what they replace. Nuclear power being a prime example.

Also, we now know that there are much vaster quantities of available carbon fuels than we were led to believe. In fact, many now theorize that the earth’s core is actually carbon and not iron. Conserving fuel makes less sense than conserving air.
