Taliban Claim Control of Some 90% of Afghanistan’s Border Areas
Sputnik – 22.07.2021
The Taliban controls approximately 90% of Afghanistan’s border with neighbouring countries, Zabiullah Mujahid, the movement’s spokesman, told Sputnik on Thursday.
“The borders of Afghanistan with Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran — about 90% of the borders are under our control … The border with Turkmenistan and the border with Iran are completely under our control. The borders of Pakistan (with the exception of a few small sections) are also under our control”, Mujahid said.
The statement comes after Moscow noted earlier in the day that the hasty US withdrawal from Afghanistan had resulted in a major shift, with the Taliban taking almost complete control of the Tajik border.
The war-torn nation has been witnessing major clashes between the Taliban movement and government forces in recent months. The militants gained momentum as American troops started pulling out on 1 May, in accordance with an agreement that the Taliban and the United States struck in Doha in February 2020.
According to the Taliban, its forces are now in control of nearly 85 percent of Afghanistan.

Cover-Up Is an Indispensable Chronicle of American Overreach
New documentary about journalist Seymour Hersh uncovers the pathologies of US imperialism
By Leon Hadar | The American Conservative | January 2, 2026
Laura Poitras and Mark Obenhaus’s new film Cover-Up is more than a documentary about the legendary journalist Seymour Hersh—it is an inadvertent chronicle of the pathologies of American empire. As a foreign policy analyst who has long advocated for realist restraint in U.S. international engagement, I find this film both vindicating and deeply troubling. It documents, through one journalist’s extraordinary career, the pattern of deception, overreach, and institutional rot that has characterized American power projection for over half a century.
What makes Hersh’s reporting invaluable from a realist perspective is that it consistently exposed the gap between stated intentions and actual policy outcomes. CIA domestic surveillance, the My Lai massacre, the secret bombing of Cambodia, Abu Ghraib—each revelation demonstrated what realists have long understood: that idealistic rhetoric about spreading democracy and protecting human rights often masks cruder calculations of power, and that unchecked executive authority in foreign affairs inevitably leads to abuse.
The documentary’s treatment of Hersh’s Cambodia reporting is particularly instructive. Here was a case where the American government conducted a massive bombing campaign against a neutral country, killing tens of thousands of civilians, while lying to Congress and the public. This wasn’t an aberration, but the logical consequence of what happens when a superpower faces no effective constraints on its use of force abroad. In exposing the scandal, Hersh also documented how empire actually functions when stripped of its legitimating myths. … continue

“According to the Taliban, its forces are now in control of nearly 85 percent of Afghanistan”.
Well, THAT has to be a major defeat(again) for the USA/MIC. ALL of the Trillions of dollars spent over 20 years, has achieved NOTHING.(Except, crippling debt)
The USA is being gradually “BLED DRY”, by the parasitic “dual passport holders” within its own Government, who clearly have enormous power, via the Richest people in the USA, the “1%”, who always seem to come out of every situation, on Top.
And, nobody in the USA has noticed, what has happened……..

This interesting post noted — with a sense of acceptance of its basic veracity…and a parallel sense of (speaking of) 85-90 percent personal inevitability based on the accruing horrors of the past 20 years-plus. What in hell else should we would-be hegemonic/bent on “full-spectrum global dominance” (Zionist-occupied and MIC-goosed) Americans have expected, given the sweep of history, geography, etc.?
I can only wish the Afghani people well, with acceptable bi- and multi-lateral relations vis-a-vis those on their borders and beyond. I can also only wish/hope that new or evolved geopolitical and economic alignments (China!) will accrue to Afghanistan’s benefit over the course of its interaction with the “global village.”

How is the USA now going to ‘work down’ its National debt? $29,000,000,000,000 should be the USA’s number 1 priority, but no one seems to be even noticing it??? And, if, as it seems, it is ‘not important’, can someone explain why?

Brian, is China waiting in the wings to be our (US’) savior?!

Maybe???……I think that China will overtake the USA “Empire” sometime in the future, because The USA has already been taken over, from within. There are “White Ants” in the Woodwork, and no one is able to treat the problem.
Someone tell me if I’m wrong?

They have already overtaken us. We fed ourselves right into their hands.
