Homs attack: Iran says US complicit in Daesh crimes in Syria

Press TV – February 18, 2023

Iran has condemned Friday’s brutal attack by the Daesh terrorist group in the central Syrian province of Homs, saying the United States is complicit in the continuation of the acts of terror in the war-ravaged country.

“The current policies and approaches of the American regime indicate the continuation of this regime’s double standards in dealing with international issues, including the battle against terrorism,” Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kan’ani said on Saturday.

He reiterated the importance of providing the Syrian government with effective international support to help it fight the remnants of Daesh and other terrorist groups.

“The US government, as one of the founders and supporters of the Daesh terrorist group and a government that has an illegal military presence in a part of Syria’s territory, is complicit in the continuation of the crimes by this group and the continuation of insecurity in Syria,” Kan’ani said.

At least 53 citizens, who were truffle hunting, were killed in the Daesh attack on the southwest of the town of al-Sokhna in the desert east of the city of Homs on Friday, state television reported.

The victims included 46 civilians and seven soldiers, said Dr. Walid Odeh, director of the General Authority of Palmyra National Hospital.

The Friday attack was the deadliest attack by the outfit since January last year when the terrorists stormed a prison in the northeastern Syrian city of Hasakeh in a bid to free fellow Takfiris.

  2. Yes, the US is more than guilty of the crimes its terrorist recruits commit. There would be no Daesh aka ISIS in existence today if the British and US intelligence communities who created them were prevented from doing so. But unfortunately, when governments back such operations who else is there to prevent the outcome? The US and Saudi governments recruited and trained the Muhajadeen Jihadis to fight the Russians in Afghanistan. The US then worked with the British to recruit and train more jihadi fighters in the war on secular governments in Egypt, Libya, and Syria. They skipped Turkey due to its NATO membership and the fact they have a well-trained standing army. Another secular state, Jordan, was spared and used as a training ground training terrorists to fight Assad’s Syria. Just look at what the US and Britain have done to destabilize the entire region of Southwest Asia! Libya is a broken nation with warring warlords vying for power. Syria is destroyed and occupied by the US. Fortunately for Egypt it had the leadership of al Sisi and al Sisi had the backing of the majority of the people. Otherwise the Muslim Brotherhood, the same group that assassinated Egyptian President Sadat. would be in power today.

My government is run by fascists today. We have been sliding into totalitarianism for more than three decades beginning with GHW Bush. The run-up to that period involved the assassinations of JFK, Malcolm X, MLK, and RFK, in the US. Together with the assassination of DRC President Patrice Lumumba, several attempts on DeGaulle and Pope John Paul II, all of which followed the ouster of Mossedegh in Iran, begged the question: Who in the hell was behind it all?

To answer that question one has to look at the special relationship between the British and USA after WWII. Churchill revealed what was intended with one of his famous quotes. When asked after WWII, what is to become of the British Empire, Churchill responded by saying “the empires of the future are the empires of the mind”. It was in that vein that British writers associated with the British ruling class, set to work writing books on population control. George Orwell’s Animal Farm and 1984, together with HG Wells’s “Time Machine” before them, were written more as trial balloons for what was intended than fictional tales.

Think about it for a moment. Wasn’t it British MI6 that was behind the spying on Trump from 2015 on? And wasn’t it wasn’t John Brennen, Obama’s CIA Director who farmed out to the Britis the spying and frame up of Donald Trump? Yet Britain was never held accountable for spying and framing Trump up. Not by Trump and not by Congress or any US government agency. Not one of them demanded accountability for Britain’s interference in the election nor what could have been considered an act of war by the British government against a duly elected sitting President.
Why? I kept asking myself why didn’t Trump use the occasion to break from Britain’s special relationship with the United States. Surely Trump and his people had cause to do so. I believe that someone delivered a message to him that convinced him not to do anything that would jeopardize the “Special Relationship”. You know, according to British sources the so-called Special Relationship is based on “British brains and American brawn.” The London Chatham House represents the brains. The US Pentagon the brawn. Together they represent global Imperialism, a financial Empire modeled on the 6th-century Roman Empire. They think of themselves as the New Centurians dedicated to ruling the world in a rules-based order of their liking.

My oh my, no wonder they have made so many mistakes. They are so full of arrogance that they even blew up the Nord Stream Pipeline! A set of pipelines that were as much a part of Germany as they were Russia. Let’s hope it causes their downfall.
