Russia responds to seizure of state property in Finland

The Russian Embassy in Finland has demanded an explanation after restrictions were placed on Russian state property in Helsinki.
“A demand has been lodged to the Finnish Foreign Ministry to explain how the actions of the bailiffs are compatible with the norms of international law about the immunity of the property of a (foreign) state,” the embassy said in a statement on Wednesday.
According to Russian officials, the Finnish authorities cited EU sanctions when they imposed restrictions on the Russian Science and Culture Center building, the surrounding plot of land, and the apartments of diplomats who work there.
The Helsingin Sanomat newspaper reported on Tuesday that Finland’s debt recovery agency placed temporary restrictions on the Russian building a week ago at the request of the Finnish Foreign Ministry. Officials now have three weeks to determine if the property can be linked to blacklisted individuals or entities. The injunction forbids the owner from making deals involving the real estate.
The newspaper added that the seven apartments in question are owned by Rossotrudnichestvo, a Russian federal agency for foreign cooperation which was blacklisted by the EU last year.
Last month, the Finnish authorities froze the Russian Science and Culture Center’s account at national bank Nordea, TV channel YLE said.
The EU, together with the US and Britain, has imposed sweeping sanctions on Russia in response to Moscow’s military operation in Ukraine. The Kremlin has argued that the sanctions are illegal, while the Russian Foreign Ministry has likened the freezing of assets abroad to theft.

The Curious Case of the Missing Professor Mifsud

In The Times newspaper on July 30th, appeared a short and succinct article, easily missed were it not for its intriguing headline: ‘Missing academic Joseph Mifsud at heart of Mueller investigation’. The academic in question, one may or may not have heard of, depending on the extent to which one is reliant on mainstream media for keeping abreast of the news. But anyone attempting to keep up with the complex and murky world of the Mueller investigation, may be familiar with the name of this mysterious and elusive figure.
For it is none other than Professor Mifsud, affiliated with both the Universities of Stirling and East Anglia in the UK, that was identified by the FBI as being the source of the information that Russia had ‘dirt’ on Hillary Clinton. And intriguingly, the same Professor Mifsud who disappeared in October 2017 and has been missing ever since.
It was in April 2016 that Mifsud, who was qualified in education but somehow managed to find his way into the world of international diplomacy (becoming director of the London Academy of Diplomacy in 2012), reportedly met George Papadopoulos, foreign policy advisor to the Trump campaign, where he is said to have told him that the Russian government had ‘dirt on Hillary Clinton’. This information was then allegedly passed by Papadopoulos to the Australian High Commissioner in London, before being repeated to US authorities; that effectively Papdopoulos had known about the DNC hack prior to it being carried out. Were sanctions imposed on the United States for invading Iraq based on reports falsely accusing Saddam Hussein of harboring WMD? Turns out it was a big fat lie spread by Tony Blair and that idiot savant W. Bush! Both knew the truth and yet they invaded anyway.
And what about Obama and Hilary Clinton? These two ordered a NO FLY ZONE over Libya while arming al-Qaeda-affiliated groups that eventually overthrew and murdered Gadaffi. Lybia is now a failed state run by warring tribes. Even more deadly, the 2 decades-long Vietnam War took 3.1 million Vietnamese on both sides during the US occupation together with 58,200 Americans. Eight of whom were from my unit in Phu Bai and half of them worked or lived next to me when I was there.
One million Iraqis were killed along with 6000 Americans.
War in Afghanistan claimed 70,000 civilians together with 2500 Americans.
If killing approximately 4 million human beings doesn’t warrant sanctions or at least accountability, tell me, what does?

I’d add — my personal passion — What about the millions of Palestinian Muslims and Christians who have suffered and died for decades due to the machinations of (writ large) colonialism that currently has its locus in military/political Zionism practiced by the so-called “chosen people” and their godless ideology that has corrupted observant Judaism irreparably…aided and abetted principally/reflexively by the colonial USA plus its fawning/complicit client states?
