Day 8: Death toll from Israeli war on Gaza climbs to 2,269, including over 700 children

At least 2,269 people, including over 700 Palestinian children, have been killed as the Israeli war on the besieged Gaza rages on.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza announced in a statement on Saturday that 2,269 Palestinians lost their lives and another 9,814 were injured ever since the Israeli strikes began on October 7. More than 700 children are among the fatalities.
This comes as more than 420,000 people are displaced within the Gaza Strip. A total of 270,374 out of 423,378 internally displaced people are now in UN shelters and schools.
At least 15 hospitals have been damaged by Israeli shelling and air raids.
The UN agency for Palestinian refugees says its shelters in the enclave “are not safe anymore” and warns that water is running out for the 2.3 million residents of the blockaded territory.
Israeli strike at school in Jabalia kills at least 27 Palestinians
Renewed Israeli airstrikes near a school on Saturday afternoon have killed more than 20 Palestinians.
According the media office of the Gaza-based Interior Ministry, The attack targeted areas adjacent to al-Fakhura School in Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza, leaving at least 27 civilians, including children, dead.
The Israeli air raids also resulted in the injury of more than 80 people.
Gaza hospitals given final warning to be evacuated or bombed
Furthermore, a Palestinian doctor said the Israeli military has given them a final notice to leave hospitals in northern Gaza before they start bombing them.
Sohaib al-Hems said staff of al-Awda Hospital in Jabalia and the General Services Hospital in Gaza City are refusing to leave.
“We will die in the hospitals. More than 27 ambulances have been targeted just now, and dozens of medical staff and patients have been killed,” Hems said. “Do not stay silent over what’s happening in Gaza. We will not forgive you.”
UN: Water runs out in Gaza
The United Nations also said more than two million people are risk in Gaza as water runs out.
It has become a matter of “life and death,” Philippe Lazzarini, the commissioner-general of UNRWA, the UN’s Palestinian refugee agency, said.
According the UNRWA, no humanitarian supplies have been allowed into Gaza since last Saturday.
“Fuel needs to be delivered now into Gaza to make water available for 2 million people,” Lazzarini said.
“If not, people will start dying of severe dehydration, among them young children, the elderly and women. Water is now the last remaining lifeline. I appeal for the siege on humanitarian assistance to be lifted now,” he added.
Clean and drinking water is running out, forcing people to use dirty water from wells and increasing risks of waterborne diseases, the UNRWA noted.
Water supply has also been impacted by the total electricity blackout imposed by Israel since October 11.

Israel’s military indoctrination of children

The modern roots of Zionism go back to its founding at the First Zionist Congress in Basle, Switzerland, in 1897, its programme being the “establishing for the Jewish people of a publicly and legally assured home in Eretz Yisrael”. Five decades later, this was accomplished by dispossessing indigenous Palestinians, denying them the right to their land, creating a new Jewish identity, legitimising Jews as rightful owners, and using superior military force to support the state against defenceless civilians who were no match against their powerful adversary.
Leading up to and after its war of independence, Israel stayed politically and militarily hard line, negotiating from strength, choosing confrontation over diplomacy, and naked aggression as a form of self- defence and occupation in order to seize as much of historic Palestine as possible and secure an ethnically pure Jewish state. These policies were called “Israelification [and] De-Arabisation” to preserve a “Jewish character”.
In his book, The Making of Israeli Militarism, author Uri Ben-Eliezer says writing about Israeli militarism involves “ventur(ing) into an intellectual minefield”, given Jewish history under the Nazis and the perception of Israel as a safe haven. Yet, decades of Arab- Israeli conflict have produced seven full-scale wars, two Intifadas, and many hundreds of violent incidents.
Ben-Eliezer believes that, beginning in the 1930s, militarism “was gradually legitimized within the Yishuv, the Jewish community in Palestine, then within the new state [it was] crystallized into a value, a formula, and an ideology.” Over time, it acquired a dynamic of its own, and then, during the 1948 war, it “acquired full legitimacy” and became decisive in setting policy.
Politics and militarism were wedded to create a militaristic view of reality. Thereafter, it was institutionalised to the point that “the idea of implementing a military solution to [political problems] was not only enshrined as a value in its own right, but was also considered legitimate, desirable, and indeed the best option.” … continue

Today on a local Australian TV news report, an Israeli apologist claimed that Hamas attacked and killed civilians, while the IDF selectively and carefully took out the terrorists. Obviously, in the IDF’s eyes, 700 children are terrorists. But will anyone, from Bibi down, stand trial for war crimes?

Biden like Mussolini before him, can be classified a war criminal for defending Israel after Israel bombed defenseless Palestinians huddled in their homes in Gaza. The brutality of inflicting death and destruction on the civilian residents of Gaza must be stopped! If the Israeli regime goes through with a ground assault on Gaza, it will be worse than the Nazi Blitzkriegs of World War two that killed thousands of innocent eastern Europeans caught in the conflict between Germany and Russia.
Gaza is densely populated with 2.3 million Palestinians living on a 140 sq km strip of land. To put it into perspective, Gaza is 1/5th the size of NY City’a 783 sq km. An Israeli ground assault by the IDF against the civilian population in Gaza therefore, must be prevented. While Israel has vowed to annihilate Hamas, IDF forces will not only be confronting Hamas fighters, they will be facing families huddled together in buildings that are still standing after Israeli bunker buster bombs rained down on Gaza, already killing thousands of innocent Palestinians. If the shoe were on the other foot would Biden be supporting Hamas? Of course not. Biden is not a principled man. Biden will do whatever his advisors believe is politically correct. And because his foreign policy advisors Nuland, Blinken, and Sullivan advised him to blow up Nord Stream II, they could all be standing before a judge for blowing up Nordstream 2 should Biden lose the next election.
