US government plans to force all new vehicles to have a “kill switch”

If the US government gets its way, it will require car manufacturers to install kill switches in all new vehicles (cars, trucks, and SUVs) from 2026. The kill switch will have a backdoor that can be accessed by law enforcement.

But, as House Representative Bob Barr noted in an article last year, legislation can change unexpectedly to work against law-abiding citizens.
The kill switch will not only remotely shut down a vehicle but the technology will also “passively monitor the performance of a motor vehicle to accurately identify whether that driver may be impaired.”
The bill, which was tucked away in the infrastructure bill that Biden signed, will give law enforcement the opportunity to monitor how people drive and shut off their car if they do something that has been deemed driver impairment.
Perhaps the worst part about the kill switch is that it would have a backdoor, allowing the police and other law enforcement agencies access. The speculation is that a warrant would not be needed to access the kill switch. The other problem with backdoors is that they are accessible to hackers.
Barr points out that the law is a violation of privacy. Additionally, the law does not define “impaired driving,” leaving it open to the interpretation of government agencies.

Revisionist History Books Banned by Amazon

On August 13, 2018 Amazon banned Judaism’s Strange Gods: Revised and Expanded, which was published in 2011 and sold by Amazon for the past seven years. Along with the much larger study, Judaism Discovered, (sold by Amazon since 2008), it has had an international impact both as a softcover volume as well as a digital book circulating on the Amazon Kindle.
Sales to India, Japan and the Middle East were rapidly growing. The digital Kindle format is particularly important for the free circulation of books because it bypasses borders and customs and hurdles over the prohibitive cost of shipping which the US Postal Service imposed on mail to overseas destinations several years ago (eliminating economical surface mail).
Amazon has also banned The Great Holocaust Trial: The Landmark Battle for the Right to Doubt the West’s Most Sacred Relic (sold by Amazon since 2010).
These volumes maintain a high standard of scholarly excellence, had a majority of favorable reviews by Amazon customers, are free of hatred and bigotry and have sold thousands of copies on Amazon. Out of the blue we were told that suddenly “Amazon KDP” discovered that the books are in violation of Amazon’s “content guidelines.” Asking for documentation of the charge results in no response. It is enough that the accusation has been tendered. The accused are guilty until proved innocent, although how proof of innocence is presented is anyone’s guess. There is no appeals process. This is what is known as “Tech Tyranny.”
There is a nationwide purge underway that amounts to a new McCarthyism — blacklisting and banning politically incorrect speech and history books under the rubric of “hate speech” accusations, initiated in part by two Zionist thought police organizations, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) and the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). It’s a flimsy pretext for censoring controversial scholarly books that can’t be refuted.

Your concern is well taken, Brian…surely in Australia and other locales around the globe in addition to the US-aka “Corruption Inc.” But, from my minute piece of “life,” the words “violation of privacy” above were what grabbed me. My phone is monitored; I think there’s a connection between my TV and the internet; “big (and small?) commerce has invaded us in ways uncountable/unknowable; why shouldn’t government join the gravy train?–if the public allows it without protest while voting scofflaw “lifers” back into elective office for decades of feathering their nests? My example of the day: 10 days or so ago, I visited a site recommended by a family member for possible purchase of some rather fancy bars of bathing soap. I figured “why not try it?” so ordered five bars with free shipping and a price that didn’t scare me…and a gift(s) is a possible option. So I got the usual e-mail “Thanks for your order; here are details”; “Your order has shipped…anticipate it!”; and at least two other e-mails exhorting me to order other and more items from the “store,” with possible related items (body wash, creams…) to tempt me. I idly opened to one of the mails and scanned a couple of items for pure curiosity, with no intention of further enriching the online retailer…all of a sudden, within hours, I get another e-mail: “We noticed that you’ve been looking through our inventory…don’t just stop at ‘looking’: BUY SOMETHING (MORE)!” (paraphrase). I was and am outraged at such an invasion of my privacy. I guess my point is that whether it’s retailers, banks, gummint, Big Pharma, other rapacious sectors [Google, Facebook, cell-phones, media, etc….?!)…they’re all out to spy and exploit and prey on us…and “we the people” have allowed this Information Technology Age to wash over us like the tsunami generated by the off-Tonga volcanic eruption the other day. Isn’t “passively monitoring performance” (above) just part of that “big picture”? We have met the enemy and it R us….
Oh well: at my advanced age, by the noted “2026” I might well be outta here…. Can one possibly imagine what this world will look and function like in 50 years or less–if “humanity” makes it that far? I can’t….
