New so-called ‘Ministry of Truth’ actually just a ‘Disinformation Governance Board’, which is precisely the opposite: DHS

The newly-unveiled ‘Disinformation Governance Board’, operating within the Department of Homeland Security, has triggered a massive pushback, forcing DHS chief Alejandro Mayorkas to make several appearances on national TV in an attempt to clarify how this unit will operate.
Many critics, including top Republicans, blasted the initiative as a “Ministry of Truth,” directly from the pages of George Orwell’s dystopian novel “1984.”
Speaking on CNN’s State of the Union on Sunday, Mayorkas deflected this criticism by claiming such thought policing is “precisely the opposite of what this small working group within the Department of Homeland Security will do.”
“What it will do is gather together best practices in addressing the threat of disinformation from foreign state adversaries from the cartels and disseminate those best practices to the operators that have been executing in addressing this threat for years,” he explained, after CNN’s Dana Bash said it was still not clear “how this governance board will act.”
The new body is headed by Nina Jankowicz, whose resume includes advising the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry and overseeing the Russia and Belarus programs at the National Democratic Institute lobby group. Detractors also scrutinized her for dismissing the New York Post’s suppressed ‘Hunter’s laptop’ story as a fake “Russian influence op,” only for it to be later verified by major media outlets.
In a separate appearance on ‘Fox News Sunday’, Mayorkas defended the qualifications and objectivity of Jankowicz, calling her “eminently qualified” and a “renowned expert in the field of disinformation.”
“I don’t question her objectivity. There are people in the department who have a diverse range of views and they’re incredibly dedicated to mission. We’re not the opinion police.”
The new “anti-disinformation” push was announced on Wednesday, just two days after billionaire Elon Musk reached an agreement to buy Twitter for $44 billion and vowed to restore freedom of speech on the platform.
Responding to news of Musk’s Twitter takeover, Jankowicz said, “I shudder to think about if free speech absolutists were taking over more platforms, what that would look like for the marginalized communities, which are already shouldering disproportionate amounts of this abuse.”

I’ve been wondering for quite some time about whether we are in a War and the resolution of my thoughts on the subject has recently improved.
Oddly enough, I have some standing on the subject.
I lived in Iraq between 1981 to 1991, a period that covered almost all of the Iraq/Iran War and all of the Gulf War, the original, not the sequels.
It was an old school type of war, with two parties fighting over territory and trying to redraw a border. A lot of people died over 8 years and the border stayed the same. But weapons were sold, and internal power was consolidated.
That’s really what war is about, territory. You have something that I want, and I will fight you for it.
So, if this is a war, who are the warring parties and what is the fight over?

Gee, sounds good. But, will this “Disinformation Governance Board” take action to suppress “DISINFORMATION” being poured over the American people, by the Mainstream Media?? I doubt it !

Not sure I have my arms around this issue. The quotation pasted by Brian isn’t helpful/confused me in its very language/syntax…while reading the article’s text, I couldn’t sort out M’s use of “executing,” and I still can’t. Is his English “English”?
I imagine there are imaginary/faux-problem units like this all over the federal bureaucracy (CIA, FBI, NSA, DoD, Commerce, Treasury…). E.g., the State Department position + staff set up (during the Obama reign?) to sort out and compile “anti-semitism” data on behalf of the “victimized” Jews: isn’t it first-and-foremost a platform intended to ensure that those like me — who despise and work to ensure that the conflation of “anti-Zionism” and “anti-semitism” is perverse and anti-free speech — are intimidated and relegated to the fringes of legitimate dissent against serial human-rights abusers (Zionists!) avid to erase the Palestinians from the pages of history? Such, it seems to me, is quintessentially anti-democratic and plays right into the areas of suppression, censorship, and ultimately the entrenchment of “dumbed-down
Americans” incapable of independent thought and freedom of action. Such, it further seems to me, is the essence of the Zionist playbook: *disinformation*, manipulation, diversions, innuendo, clever conniving (e.g., infiltration into the legislative process at fed/state/local levels), lies, corruption of the justice (sic) system via sham lawsuits and lengthy/money-draining trials…and voila!– *control* of the action in furtherance of Zionism’s agenda/enterprise!
We don’t need this encroachmen/dangerous “police state” mentality/reality, driven by any/all with agendas [typically with hidden/malign components] and money and influence, over all sectors of our polity and (fractured) society….
