Iran spent $1 million to wipe out $30 billion in data center plans, and take down Amazon in the ME
Inside China Business | September 16, 2026
“Compute Diplomacy” was a US strategy to dislodge Chinese companies in the Middle East, and compel cooperation with Silicon Valley AI developers. Bahrain and the UAE hosted large Amazon Web Services data centers, and planned a $30 billion, 5-GW Stargate project. But Iran targeted AWS facilities in the earliest days of the war, knocking them offline for months. Cloud Services is Amazon’s primary profit driver, and is a “dual-use” company that serves a wide range of military and commercial clients. The Stargate project in the UAE is now under review, as the managers wrestle with how to protect the facilities from attack by drones and missiles. China’s “Token Outbound” economy is ramping up, and is ironically in the best position of all to benefit from Iran’s attacks on data centers in the Gulf. Closing scene, Zhejiang, near Wenzhou

Zionist billionaire pressure to silence Macklemore sparks exodus from Ed Sheeran tour
MEMO | September 16, 2026
Ed Sheeran’s backing band and three supporting acts have withdrawn from his tour after Macklemore was dropped following pressure from billionaire Robert Kraft and other stadium owners over the rapper’s pro-Palestinian performances.
Irish band Beoga, singer-songwriter Aaron Rowe, Danish band Lukas Graham and US musician Finneas announced their departures yesterday.
Macklemore said Kraft, the pro-Israel billionaire whose company owns Gillette Stadium and the New England Patriots, told Sheeran he would not be allowed to perform at the stadium. The rapper also accused Kraft of rallying other stadium owners to issue an ultimatum.
Kraft confirmed that he opposed Macklemore’s participation at Gillette Stadium, citing his performances and what he described as anti-Semitic rhetoric and imagery. Promoter Messina Touring Group separately confirmed that multiple venues would not permit concerts with Macklemore on the bill.
Sheeran said venues had threatened to pull upcoming shows and attributed Macklemore’s removal to the promoter. He said he had spent the week attempting to resolve the dispute.
“Artists must not be silenced when they speak up for the oppressed,” Finneas said.
Beoga accused “Zionist lobbies” of silencing Macklemore. Rowe and Lukas Graham also confirmed their withdrawals while expressing affection for Sheeran.
The dispute follows another instance of Kraft using financial pressure amid pro-Palestinian activism. In April 2024, he said he was no longer comfortable supporting Columbia University “until corrective action is taken”.
Kraft’s intervention was part of a pressure campaign by wealthy supporters of Israel weaponizing their donations to press institutions over their response to pro-Palestinian solidarity.
Macklemore announced his removal on Monday after saying “Free Palestine” during performances at MetLife Stadium earlier this month. He denies being anti-Semitic and argues that conflating criticism of Israel with anti-Semitism shields Israel from accountability.
In his statement, reproduced on Reddit, the rapper urged readers to keep Palestinian suffering at the centre of the controversy.
“The victims are the Palestinian people,” he wrote, referring to those killed, starved and displaced.
He also challenged claims of political neutrality: “There is no neutral position between the oppressor and the oppressed.”
Macklemore has repeatedly advocated for Palestinian rights, including through his 2024 protest song Hind’s Hall.
Critics sharing Macklemore’s statement claimed that this was another example of how the “US is in the grip of a foreign power.”
House Votes to End Iran War for Third Time
By Kyle Anzalone | The Libertarian Institute | September 16, 2026
The House of Representatives passed a third War Powers Resolution calling on President Donald Trump to end unauthorized hostilities against Iran. The following day, House Speaker Mike Johnson canceled the chamber’s remaining votes and sent lawmakers home early for the midterm recess, delaying a potential vote on Congressman Thomas Massie’s articles of impeachment against Secretary of War Pete Hegseth.
The House passed H. Con. Res. 93 220-204 on Tuesday, with seven Republicans joining nearly all Democrats to pass the legislation. H. Con. Res. 93 directs President Donald Trump to end hostilities against Iran.
H. Con. Res. 93 invokes the War Powers Act to assert Congress’s power over war-making. President Donald Trump took the US to war against Iran earlier this year without any Congressional authorization.
Following the vote, Speaker Johnson announced the House would begin its midterm recess ahead of schedule. Massie responded to the news on X. “And there it is. Just as I predicted. They’re canceling Congress tomorrow to avoid the vote on IMPEACHING [Hegseth],” he wrote.
The Republican Congressman argues the impeachment of Hegseth is necessary as the US has been in an undeclared war with Iran for over 90 days.
“By engaging in hostilities in Iran for more than 90 days without congressional authorization, Secretary Hegseth is breaking the law and must be held accountable,” said Massie. “Secretary Hegseth’s constitutional violations extend beyond the illegal war in Iran. He is abusing the power of his office to ignore congressional war powers resolutions, to kidnap foreign leaders, and to intimidate critics of the Trump administration by retaliating against them for exercising free speech.”
He continued, “If we are to remain true to our oath to ‘support and defend the Constitution of the United States,’ Congress must not turn a blind eye to Secretary Hegseth’s unconstitutional and illegal actions.”
In addition to waging an undeclared war against Iran, under Hegseth, the US has also bombed vessels in the Caribbean Sea and Pacific Ocean, Nigeria, Yemen, and Venezuela without any approval from the Legislature.
North Korea Slams US Plan for ‘AUKUS 2.0’ with South Korea and Japan
By Kyle Anzalone | The Libertarian Institute | September 16, 2026
North Korean state media published an article slamming the US for encouraging South Korea and Japan to acquire nuclear-powered submarines. The author argued the move justified North Korea building up its nuclear deterrent.
In a commentary published by KCNA, international affairs analyst Choe Ju Hyon accused the US of instigating South Korea and Japan to acquire nuclear submarines. “The reality goes to prove that Washington’s plan for ‘AUKUS 2.0,’ which allows the transfer of nuclear technology for munitions to non-nuclear allies, has entered the phase of full-scale expansion,” he wrote.
AUKUS is a trilateral pact between the US, the UK, and Australia. Under the deal, the US and UK agreed to help Australia build a fleet of nuclear submarines. China has also criticized the transfer of nuclear-propulsion technology under AUKUS. The Chinese Foreign Ministry said AUKUS “undermine[s] strategic stability and provoke[s] an arms race in the region.”
In his article, Choe argued that North Korea must increase its nuclear deterrent in response to South Korea and Japan acquiring nuclear submarines. North Korea must “bolster up its nuclear war deterrent means both in quality and quantity without the slightest stagnation and stalemate.”
Tensions between the US and North Korea are rising just weeks after President Donald Trump said he wanted to meet with Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un by the end of the year. Since Trump’s statement in August, the US has engaged in two rounds of war games in the region.
Last month, the US and South Korea held bilateral Ulchi Freedom Shield (UFS) war games. Trump scaled back the drills, arguing they were unnecessarily hostile against North Korea. Earlier this month, the US, South Korea and Japan held the trilateral Freedom Edge war games.
While Trump cut the UFS drills in half, the Freedom Edge war games have gone forward as planned. North Korea has conducted multiple missile tests amid the exercises, including several short-range ballistic missile launches immediately after Freedom Edge concluded.
Prolonging US-Iran Conflict Not Meeting Interests of Int’l Community – China’s Wang Yi
Sputnik – 16.09.2026
BEIJING – The continuation of the conflict between the United States and Iran does not meet the interests of the two countries or the international community, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Wednesday.
Earlier in the day, Wang Yi held talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
“The continued prolongation of hostilities between the United States and Iran does not meet the common interests of either the parties to the conflict or the international community,” the Chinese minister was quoted as saying by CCTV.
He also noted that China has been consistent in its policy towards Iran, advocating for justice in the UN Security Council, opposing the use of force and defending the norms of international relations.
On February 28, the United States and Israel launched strikes against targets in Iran, prompting Iranian retaliatory strikes. In mid-June, Iran and the US signed a memorandum on the cessation of hostilities, but hostilities resumed shortly afterward.
The conflict remains unresolved, with hostilities resuming sporadically. Washington, however, has opted to increase economic pressure on the Islamic Republic in an effort to end the conflict by imposing additional financial hardships on Iran.
US destroying international space law
By Lucas Leiroz | September 16, 2026
It appears that international space law treaties have completely lost their effectiveness. In a recent statement, an American official acknowledged that the US maintains weapons in outer space. This move comes at a time of heightened tension between NATO and the West’s geopolitical adversaries, raising fears about the potential start of an arms race.
The statement on the subject was made by US Air Force Secretary Troy Meink. He revealed specific information regarding American space weapons during his opening address at the Air & Space Forces Association’s 2026 Air, Space & Cyber Conference at National Harbor, Maryland. Meink emphasized the US’ readiness to militarily neutralize any threats to Washington’s interests – a move supposedly aimed at “legitimizing” the use of space-based weapons.
Meink stated that the US possesses several weapons stationed in Earth’s orbit, in a state of absolute operational readiness for the case of a potential emergency need to intervene in support of US armed forces. Meink declined to provide further details regarding these weapons and their operational capabilities, stating that his words were carefully chosen in order to reveal the truth without sharing information that could harm US national interests. However, he made it clear that Washington has strong space-based capabilities for both defense and offense.
“Today, we continue to ensure we remain ready to meet the challenge of evolving threats wherever they exist (…) This is why the Space Force now has on-orbit space control weapons capable of defending the joint force against hostile adversary action (…) It’s important from a deterrence perspective (…) [My remarks were] very well thought out (…) It is critically important that we maintain our dominance, not only in the air but in space,” he said.
Although there had long been reports in specialized military media regarding the possible presence of American weapons in space, the matter remained unconfirmed until now. For the first time, US authorities have decided to comment openly on the subject, putting an end once and for all to doubts about whether or not the US possesses weapons beyond Earth.
The “Treaty on Principles Governing the Activities of States in the Exploration and Use of Outer Space, Including the Moon and Other Celestial Bodies”, better known as the Outer Space Treaty, established in 1967 expressly prohibits the deployment of weapons in outer space. The document especially bans, among others, nuclear weapons and weapons of mass destruction. Created during the Cold War – a period of high tension and risk of nuclear confrontation – the treaty succeeded in establishing an efficient mechanism for space cooperation, despite political differences among the various signatories.
“Recalling resolution 1884 (XVIII), calling upon States to refrain from placing in orbit around the earth any objects carrying nuclear weapons or any other kinds of weapons of mass destruction or from installing such weapons on celestial bodies, which was adopted unanimously by the United Nations General Assembly on 17 October 1963 (…) States Parties to the Treaty undertake not to place in orbit around the earth any objects carrying nuclear weapons or any other kinds of weapons of mass destruction, install such weapons on celestial bodies, or station such weapons in outer space in any other manner. The moon and other celestial bodies shall be used by all States Parties to the Treaty exclusively for peaceful purposes. The establishment of military bases, installations and fortifications, the testing of any type of weapons and the conduct of military maneuvers on celestial bodies shall be forbidden,” the document reads.
In fact, all major military powers possess significant space weapons. There is a wide range of modern arms that can be described as “space weapons,” including ballistic missiles and laser weapons. These systems cross space or interact with objects in orbit in some way, even if they operate primarily from Earth. However, what the US is now revealing is not merely the existence of space weapons, but their presence directly in space – something condemned under international law.
In practice, this means the US is deliberately dismantling the global space security architecture. By announcing the deployment of weapons in space, the US is also giving the green light to its geopolitical adversaries to do the same. To make matters worse, this is happening amidst heightened global tensions, where a single ill-advised military move could easily escalate into a full-scale conflict.
If the US truly wishes to dismantle international space law, it must be prepared, given that its primary adversaries – Russia and China – possess extremely advanced space and military technology and could likewise deploy weapons in space at any moment, having refrained from doing so until now due to diplomatic considerations and respect for international agreements.
The US needs to understand that its actions have consequences. Starting a space arms race against Russia and China seems like a highly anti-strategic move for Washington. Adhering to treaty norms may be a way to avoid triggering a race in which the US would hold no advantage.

‘40,000 tons of bombs’: Report shows Trump planning ‘largest bomb transfer in modern US history’ to Israel
Press TV – September 15, 2026
The Trump administration is preparing a $2.8-billion package to provide the Israeli regime with 40,000 2,000-pound bombs, a report says.
The package includes 20,000 MK-84s, 20,000 BLU-117s, and 20,000 I-2000 penetrator warheads, The Washington Post reported on Tuesday, citing a US official.
Although described as a sale, it would be financed through the US Foreign Military Financing program, under which Washington provides the funds the regime uses to purchase American weapons.
‘Trump pressing Congress to rubber-stamp package’
The proposed transfer has been informally notified to congressional committees, with the Trump administration pressing congressional officials to approve it.
Remarking on the report, conservative commentator Tucker Carlson sharply criticized the planned transfer, focusing particularly on its unprecedented scale.
“This appears to be the largest transfer of conventional explosive ordnance from the United States in modern history,” Carlson wrote on X.
Carlson compared the proposed 40,000 tons of bombs with major US bombing operations during World War II, noting that the Eighth Air Force’s March 1945 raid on Berlin involved about 3,000 tons of bombs, while Operation Meetinghouse over Tokyo involved about 1,600 tons.
He argued that the scale of the proposed transfer had no historical precedent and questioned the military justification for deploying such weapons in the region.
“Nor is there a justification,” Carlson wrote, saying the transfer was such in scale that made one think that the Israeli regime was waging “World War Two.”
Carlson also argued that the weapons’ destructive power made their use in populated areas particularly consequential. He cited the MK-84’s ability to collapse buildings and create deep craters, and reminded that the regime had used hundreds of such bombs in Gaza.
‘Taxpayer-funded gift to Israel’
The commentator further characterized the transfer as a taxpayer-funded gift rather than a conventional arms sale, pointing to the Foreign Military Financing mechanism.
Sen. Chris Van Hollen said he intended to oppose the sale, arguing likewise that the administration was sending taxpayer-funded bombs, while Israeli forces continued to wage aggression in Gaza and Lebanon.
The administration has declined to comment specifically on the pending transaction.
Trump says Iran urgently seeks deal, Tehran sets conditions for talks
Al Mayadeen | September 15, 2026
US President Donald Trump said Monday that Iran is urgently seeking an agreement with the United States, while leaving open the question of whether Washington will engage in negotiations.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump described Iran as a “failed country” and said Tehran wants to reach an agreement with the United States “very quickly.”
Trump added that he would decide whether the United States would engage in the effort and enter negotiations, indicating that Washington remains open to the possibility of reaching an agreement with Iran.
The US president did not provide further details on what any potential agreement would entail or the conditions under which Washington would pursue talks with Tehran.
Tehran warns against mixed signals from Washington
Trump’s remarks come against the backdrop of sharply differing signals over the prospects for negotiations with Iran.
Iranian Supreme National Security Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaei warned against being misled by what he described as contradictory statements from Trump, pointing to the shift from declaring that there would be “no negotiations” to saying that Washington is ready to talk.
Rezaei stressed that Iran would not enter negotiations before its conditions are met, saying, “No negotiations before Iran’s conditions are met. Period.”
The Iranian official also said that the equations surrounding oil and strategic waterways had changed, warning that attempts to contain the consequences of the current situation would not prevent what lies ahead.
Iran sets seven conditions for reopening strait
Iran has told the United States that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until seven conditions approved by the country’s top officials are met, Iranian news agency Tasnim reported on Saturday, citing an informed source.
The message comes as Tehran prepares to meet with Iraq and Persian Gulf states in Oman on Monday to discuss safe routes for commercial shipping through the strategic waterway.
“Until these seven conditions, which have been approved by Iran’s top officials, are met, the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed,” the source told Tasnim.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry announced the planned meeting as efforts continue to coordinate maritime traffic amid the escalation of the US war on Iran.
Oman agreement does not include reopening waterway
The reported conditions come after Iran and Oman reached an agreement concerning the Strait of Hormuz, although the arrangement did not include reopening the waterway.
The understanding between Iran and Oman “does not provide for the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, but lays the groundwork that could allow for its reopening,” an Iranian source told Tasnim on Saturday.
The source added that the arrangement would be a step toward Iran exercising its sovereignty over the Strait and that reopening it depends entirely on the United States meeting Tehran’s conditions.
Under the agreement, the two sides coordinated the main routes for vessels entering and leaving the Strait of Hormuz.
The waterway has become a major point of concern for international shipping as the war has sharply disrupted maritime traffic through one of the world’s most important energy routes.
Russia Wants to End Ukraine Conflict – Lavrov
Sputnik – 15.09.2026
MOSCOW – Russia wants to end the Ukrainian conflict, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Tuesday.
On Ukraine
“We want to resolve this conflict and appreciate our friends’ willingness to help in this effort,” Lavrov said at the embassy roundtable on the situation around Ukraine, adding that if the US had not abandoned the Anchorage agreements, we would have been living in peace already for one year.
Russia is always ready for negotiations on Ukraine and has never delayed them or tried to complicate them, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said, commenting on the prospects for the imminent convening of a new round of negotiations.
“We are always ready for negotiations. We have never delayed these negotiations or tried to complicate them,” Lavrov said.
If Ukraine is ready to resume negotiations, Russia agrees to them and has something to say, the minister said, adding that Russia has never changed its position on talks on Ukraine.
“We are ready to seek reasonable compromises within the framework of this position, but fundamentally, we have not changed our goal: to ensure our security, to prevent NATO from appearing on our borders, and to safeguard the legitimate rights of Russians and Russian‑speaking people who have lived on these lands for centuries,” Lavov added.
On Russia-US Relations
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that he plans to meet with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.
“I have a meeting with secretary Rubio scheduled in New York on the sidelines of the General Assembly,” Lavrov said.
