Five West Bank Settlers stabbed to death

By Saed Bannoura – IMEMC News – March 12, 2011

Israeli sources reported that an unknown assailant, presumed to be Palestinian, attacked a family of Israeli settlers in their house in Itamar settlement late Friday night. Israeli authorities have called the murder of the family, which included a 3-year old and a baby, a terror attack.

The area around Itamar settlement in the northern West Bank, near the city of Nablus, has been the site of a number of recent attacks against Palestinians by Israeli settlers and soldiers in the last several weeks, including the beating, stoning and shooting of Palestinians with live ammunition by Israeli settlers.

Friday night’s attack was carried out by an unknown attacker who is presumed to be a Palestinian, and Israeli soldiers streamed into the settlement following the attack and set up a perimeter. The troops then invaded several nearby Palestinian villages and set up checkpoints along nearby Palestinian roads.

According to Israeli media reports, the victims were killed while sleeping in their beds, and include a mother, father, 11-year old, 3-year old and an infant. Another child, 12, reportedly managed to escape to a neighbor’s house to call for help.

The details of the attack are still unclear, and the assailant is still at large. Initial reports indicate that the killer was acting alone, with no connection to any Palestinian group.

If the attack was carried out by a Palestinian with a political motivation, this would mark the largest single attack on Israeli civilians in six years. Israeli forces have killed over 1200 Palestinian civilians in the last six years.

  1. Please consider that this may have been an Israeli false flag operation to encourage the international community to pressure Egypt to keep Gaza locked down. Israel was founded on such lies and deception.

    • David your comment makes much sense.

      • Israel has many collaborators in it’s grasp;
        they could easily coerce, pay or even threaten the killer’s own family with torture and death if the operation failed.

        And sacrificing a “settler family” could even be construed by the most radical Zionists to be ‘sacrifice for the nation’ ;

        but we know for sure that all normal people believe that murder is wrong…. and we deplore what happened to this family.

        Let us take the loss of this family to heal our differences and understand that

        atrocities like this do not happen in a vacuum; that these people are subject to

        intense warfare for merely being Palestinian and this could turn any normal person to insanity….

        Violence begets even greater violence…..

  2. How sick is it that the first thing that comes to mind is false flag terror?
    To benefit the Settlers of all people, from whom the murders occurred.
    Yet that is what precisely comes to mind.
    The view of intentions has flipped 180 degrees. That would not have entered the mind of the average person 5-10 years ago.
    Now, it must.

    • I don’t think anybody said that it “immediately comes to mind” but that we commented that it could not be ruled out in the context of the evils of war………..

  3. This family, like the other half million Jewish squatters are illegally living on Palestinian lands that were forcibly stolen from the rightful owners. And the encroachment, despite the condemnation of the entire world, continues. It that family weren’t there, whether or not Mossad or anyone else murdered it, it would have likely remained alive.

  4. Formore on the conflict:

    And for just a small sample of what Israelis do to Palestinian families:

  5. If the killer was Palestinian how did the person get into a fully secure settlement;
    it’s never happened before…..they are heavily guarded by IDF, police & settlers……
